Great conference. Have been there before. Very good value for money compared to events in London. The quality of the speakers was excellent.

I had a fantastic experience at the 25th anaesthesia and critical updates conference in Portugal. The lectures were relevant and delivered by experts in their fields. I have learnt some nuances in performing USG guided blocks. The well-being was new concept for me and it was helpful, as it’s easy to follow a routine in our hectic lives. The speakers were knowledgeable and gave crisp talks.
The venue was good and that helped as there was not much travel involved. Learning happened in a very friendly and relaxed environment.

excellent conference! the talks were very educational and delivered by well recognised speakers. The workshops on ultrasound, wellbeing and finance were run by knowledgeable individuals. The lectures were of high quality. This was the first time I have attended this conference and I must admit that it exceeded all my expectations. It was well organised and more importantly the speakers kept to the time. I have come back from the conference feeling that my study budget allowance has been spend on something that was really worth it. Highly recommend attending this conference!

An exceptional conference.. content covered many of the specialties of anaesthetics. The lectures were very good. The ability to speak to lecturers after their talks with follow-up discussions is an important benefit of this conference. The networking with other anaesthetic colleagues as to procedures and pathways and the wellbeing provision is an added bonus.

What a first class Update this was!!!

As a new attendee to this particular Conference, I realise now how much excellent education is delivered within the 4 day period. Well worth the fee.

World renowned experts in their specialist fields give up-to-date information, results of audit and research, and introduce new and innovative techniques.
In many cases these will enhance my practice and can only be beneficial to the care of my patients. .
The scope of subjects is impressively large. In 4 days we covered 35 different individual topics.
The conference venue is easily accessible from the hotel accommodation and dining facilities, and spending additional hours together allowed the attendees the time and a forum in which to ask further questions and delve into topics of their interest.

The opportunities to sit and talk with colleagues from so many hospitals, to share news, to learn from the practices of those working in many other trusts and specialty areas, is invaluable.

Above all this seemed time to release a pressure valve for many people, whose working life has been so stressful (and in many cases isolated) in the last few years.
It was a huge benefit to be able to spend some leisure time in the evenings with colleagues of all ages and with friends old and new.
Modern hospital medicine doesn’t allow time for this interaction as it did in the past and we are definitely all the worse for it.

I will certainly be applying to attend next year and would hope to be able to present a talk or chair a session.

In the UK we are behind the curve in how we expect doctors to learn with endless sessions and no time to network. Doctors Updates follows a US model.

Mornings are full of lectures (of an incredibly high standard) but then in the afternoon, there is the chance how to talk to people and find out how to improve patterns of working so we can look after our patients better.

Thank you to the organisers for putting together an exceptional programme.

Fantastic conference. Great speakers covering a wide range of practice relevant to my day to day practice. The three days have been of more educational value to me than any other meeting I have been to over the past few years. Excellent value for money.

I have attended Doctors Updates for several years and cannot recommend it highly enough. The programme meets almost all my CPD needs with high quality speakers from a variety of backgrounds. In between lectures and the excellent workshops, there are mindfulness sessions as well as opportunities to discuss clinical and non clinical aspects of our jobs with colleagues. Thanks Dr Liban for organising such a great conference.

Another great conference from Doctor's Updates. The quality and range of the talks were excellent. Most of the invited speakers were either internationally or nationally renowned. I learnt some very important pieces of information that will help me in my decision-making in the future. Very well organised and a boost for myself and my patients.

Really informative and educational conference. Impressive selection of speakers. I learnt more than I have from any conference in several years. Much better than online meetings, discussions and networking with colleagues and peers around the country invaluable.

All for no more cost to the taxpayer than the average conference in the chilly UK.

The lectures at this years conference were at the same high standard that I’ve come to expect. This provides me with an annual update that enables me to satisfy many of my yearly appraisal requirements on the route to my legislated revalidation. The Well-being sessions ensure the recharging of batteries ready to return to work in the stressful environment of anaesthetics.

Superb conference
Excellent diverse lectures from world class speakers. The location and length of conference support networking with colleagues from across the UK & Ireland re-establishing old friendships from pre-Covid & making new ones. One of the best conferences annually for content & updating knowledge across the board in anaesthesia & other specialities. The relaxed atmosphere and location support well-being & assist our learning.

The recent Doctors Update conference was packed full of clinical and operational tips delivered by inspirational speakers. I have already taken back ideas to my own trust to improve the quality of patient care and efficiency of theatre lists. Thanks for including lectures on workforce and wellbeing - vital to be aware of these issues in today’s NHS.

A meticulously planned conference.
Excellent varied content which is consistently well presented. Speakers research their topics thoroughly & share useful personal insight.
The consideration given to well-being & personal reflection extends through some of the talks & activities but the biggest benefit comes from sharing downtime with friendly colleagues.

This is my second time attending this conference and it was even better than last year. I have come away with so much more than I thought I would.

I had questioned whether I could afford the meeting this year with the current economic crisis. My study budget nowhere near covers the cost of the course, but I am 100% sure every £ I spent has been worthwhile. I am so grateful I decided to go.

From an academic perspective there wasn’t a lecture that I wasn’t writing notes, with many take home messages that will alter my practice directly. It’s so rare to have such a protected space and environment to do our CPD. Learning from colleagues experiences and research in this way has injected a huge amount of energy in me to return to work and try and improve how we do things. This energy has gravely decreased and been tested over the last few years, with morale at an ever low. This has really helped reverse that damage.

From a well-being perspective, I like many have been close to total burnout, but the mutual sharing of experiences and coping strategies and the overall emphasise of wellbeing and personal health has really lifted me. One speaker shared so humbly and openly that they did experience a breakdown post pandemic and how they recovered. Sharing coping mechanisms with us all. This really opened us up to sharing the real weight of our careers personally.

Now more than ever I feel the importance of having these protected times and spaces for continuing professional development.

Thanks you to Doctors Update for all your hard work. I really hope I get to attend next year.

Congratulations to organisers and speakers of Doctors Update 2023; programme was very practical, orientated towards the clinical anaesthetist with messages which have changed my day-to-day practice. Social engagement provided opportunities for networking and learning from each other. I return home reinvigorated and re-enthused!
