It only took me about 20 minutes to do my taxes with this website. Very straightforward and easy to answer questions. And had my return I filed it on the 14th and I received my refund on the 18th. I will definitely be using them next year. And there was no absolutely no charge.

I am sorry if you felt your refund should have been higher. This is what you were owed based on the information that you entered and the current tax laws. We guarantee the accuracy of the calculations. We do rely on the accuracy of the information that the taxpayer enters. Based on the information that you entered, you were due roughly $250. This was communicated to you prior to filing your return and you proceeded with filing. I do not see any support requests or questions related to your refund on your account. I apologize if you were hoping for a larger refund but this is what you were due based on the information that you entered.
Rejected Extension- Why?
Ignore my previous review. I did contact E-File and resolve my extension problem. I just was not patient enough to receive a reply.

Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company. For some reason I was redirected to this company from the IRS website. They advertise that it is free. There were no costs mentioned on their website when I started the return. When I completed the return, I tried to print it, but I received a message that I had to pay $29.99 before I could print it. Due to running out of time to file, I continued to pay. After paying, when I tried to print it, I received another message that I couldn’t print it until the IRS accepted it. I will be filing a formal complaint with the required government agencies.

I am very sorry for the trouble you've had with this. It sounds like you were attempting to print the final accepted return which is not available in the MyAccount page until after the IRS processes the return and sends back the acknowledgement. However, our paid users can always print a copy of the return that they are preparing to review it by using the Summary/Print tool. I believe this is what you visited and where you were prompted to pay for your software. After doing this, it appears that you may have visited the My Account page to obtain a copy of the accepted return, this copy would not be available until the IRS has accepted it. I understand the confusion with this and we apologize for it. It appears that your return has now been accepted so you may print it out as you were attempting. A support specialist has reached out to you to provide further assistance if it is needed.

Bait & switch. They bait you by saying you can file an extension for free, then charge you $29.95. Just be honest and ethical and tell people up front!!!!!!!!!!

From your review, I cannot tell if you are confusing us with another company or if you misread the E-file.com website. We make no claim to offer free tax extension software/filing. Now, with all extension software purchases on E-file.com, we do include our 1040 tax return software at no additional charge. This allows users who file an extension to come back anytime between April 16th and October 15th to file their tax return at no cost. This is a savings of up to eighty dollars. Again, I’m not sure if you misunderstood this, or if you are confusing us with another company. Please double check that you visited E-file.com and not another website with a similar name/URL.

I’ve been using e-file for several years now. I love that I can just sit down with my w-2 form and I-phone to knock out my return in 20 minutes or less. Although they offer to take the fee from my return, I opt to pay upfront and my return is usually deposited into my account within a few days. E-File takes all of the stress out of tax time. 10/10 I highly recommend!

Prepared my return in Taxslayer and…
Prepared my return in Taxslayer and paid the fee for the usage of it. When I tried to access the tax return to review it, I could not locate it with the user name and password. I contacted them by phone and was told I had to go to e-file.com to access my return. I did so and was able to access, but they wanted to charge me again. I call e-file and the lady I spoke with was of no help. She basically accused me of lying about paying already. She would not provide any information and was extremely condescending. I told her I would just dispute the charge with my bank. I will never use this again!

I don't know why TaxSlayer would have referred you to us if you made a purchase with them. I can see that you have recently created several accounts with us, but I can find no purchase or completed filing associated with any of them. We log all support calls, and I am also not showing any record of a call you made to our support. It sounds like this purchase and your phone call was made to another company, not E-file.com. We attempted to reach out to you to see if we could assist you with determining where this purchase was made and whom you may have spoken to, but you did not respond to any of our emails and hung up on the representative who tried calling you. I am sorry you had this experience, but it was not with E-file.com and since you do not wish to communicate with us, we are limited on the assistance we can provide you.
Use another service
I usually use HRBlock and regret using e-file. First the fee structure is not upfront. It was supposed to be free until i got to the end. I paid my fee with a credit card ($ 60.98) For some reason they also took fees out as my state return went through a third party ($60.98 + 40.00) Now they refunded my credit card the original $60.98, but still charged me the higher cost on their service. There should be no way a customer can choose the service and pay with a credit card. Plus they'll take additional fees from my federal that hasn't deposited as of yet. Customer service is useless.

I am very sorry if you had confusion with this. Our software costs can be found on the home page of our website. Your filing required our deluxe software since you have capital gains that you are reporting. You also opted to add a state tax filing. The cost of this was $60.98, which is $48 less expensive than you would have paid for the same software at the other tax software provider you have used. As for the $40 fee you spoke of, you originally selected to pay for your software by using the proceeds of your tax refund (there is a $39.99 fee for this third-party service). After the return was transmitted while it was pending acceptance by the IRS, you entered credit card payment information so that you could print out a copy of the filing (when paying with your refund, printing is enabled after the IRS accepts the return). When you contacted our support team, the agent explained what happened and refunded your credit card charge. I apologize if you were unhappy with this experience.

I don't trust this company. They added on charges without notifying me and required payment before I could see the documents. The results were the opposite of what I expected. Their phone help is never open and their emailed responses are not useful.

It sounds like you may have been attempting to call the wrong business or attempting to call a non-support phone number. We requested information from you through TrustPilot, so that we could investigate this further, but you did not respond. Our telephone support is available Monday through Friday 9:00 - 5:00 eastern, longer as we near filing deadlines. We offer free federal filing for those who qualify for our basic software. There is a fee for our state filing software and also a fee for our deluxe or premium software which is often used with more complicated returns. It sounds like a form needed for your return is not included in our basic software, so the system upgraded you, this would have been noted at the top of the page. I apologize if you missed this and the upgrade was unexpected. Since you did not respond to our request for more information, we were unable to lookup what caused your account to be upgraded.
