I could not recommend Shelton’s Solicitors enough. They were suggested to us by our estate agent and I can see why. Heather Arme was our main port of call and she was nothing but friendly and extremely helpful through-out the entire process. I would like to say a big thank you to the whole team at Shelton’s Bulwell office for making the process a doddle.

After a separation, we decided to sell the family home, I spoke with the estate agent and they recommended Shelton’s Solicitors as our conveyancer.
From the get go, I dealt with Liz Collins in the Bulwell office and her wonderful assistants, Keeley and Jodie. The amount of stories I’ve heard about solicitors not communicating or responding,
Liz was not like that at all. Every time I emailed she replied straightaway, no matter how silly my questions were, she made the whole process of buying a property on my own far less daunting than I thought it would be and she was very clear in answering any queries, avoiding legal jargon so that I fully understood. I received a breakdown of fees and charges and the whole process was explained to me in advance.
I ported my existing mortgage over and my lender required a letter from Liz, I’d requested this when Liz was on leave and on her return, I thought I’ll just check she received my email, she advised she had and had written the letter already, it was good to go, so excellent communication and super efficient as well.
We completed the process last Friday after a year (first buyers pulled out) and I want to say a huge thanks and express my gratitude for everything you did Liz, you’ve been a pleasure to deal with and I can’t recommend you highly enough, you’ve been brilliant!

Hannah and Sarah at the Syston office were excellent with our conveyancing, it was a difficult time for us and they were there for us every step of the way. They were efficient, helpful and kind, especially when our buyer’s solicitor was making things extremely difficult for all us by being unresponsive and incompetent. All the staff we met at the Syston office were also very kind to us, which was very much appreciated.

Heather at the Bulwell branch did an excellent job with selling our home and was always very quick to respond to any of our queries. Thank you, I'd definitely recommend.

I have recently remade my Will with Sheltons, Bulwell and could not fault their friendly and efficient service. From being greeted by their lovely Receptionist, Rachel. to then being lead through the procedure very clearly and professionally by their trainee Solicitor, Nicole, it was nowhere near as daunting as I had imagined. I would certainly have no hesitation in passing on a recommendation.

6 weeks after completion I was advised my account was down by £995. Apparently this should have been flagged before I completed. Rebecca Lovett gave me 10 days to pay and this is two weeks before Christmas. Thanks for that. I emailed asking for an explanation as to why I suddenly owe this amount of money and did not receive a reply. This was your mistake and therefore you should in some way be liable for it financially. How do I know there won't be another 'mistake' in 6 weeks and I will owe another £995?

Making my first will at Sheltons Solicitors was easier than I thought. Nicole, a trainee solicitor was excellent in explaining all the details and taking me through the process. My draft was quickly sent and a few minor amendments where no problem. Highly recommend Nicole and her team.

I bought my first home using Sarah and the team as my conveyancer (EHL Loughborough Branch), after recommendations from my family and independent mortgage advisor who both have previously used their service.

The service was great, and I was kept informed throughout the process. Sarah was fast to respond and provided great advice with resolving a boundary dispute that arose during the house buying process. Which was difficult given the seller’s conveyancer were not responding to our quires adequately.

Overall I am very happy with the service received and would recommend Sara/EHL to others, I will be using them again in the future.

From start to finish I had an exceptional experience with Heather and the team, extremely helpful, efficient and professional. Always got back to me extremely quickly regarding any queries I had, could not fault them. Made such a stressful time a lot easier to deal with, excellent service.

There is something clearly not right about this firm.

Client abuse appears to be common especially regarding estate management following the death of a loved one.

Like so many others who have complained here and on Google reviews about this firm, beneficiaries monies are retained unlawfully past dates for distribution. It took them an inordinate amount of time to sort out my relative's estate which only involved a house sale.

I'd have been struck off if I acted as unprofessional as this firm.

Their management of estate funds is something that can be challenged via the Senior Courts Cost Office especially where they have overcharged for their services.

Have raised complaints with the firm directly especially to one of the directors. They simply ignore you and act as though they are above the law.

It appears that they do not understand some of the basics regarding client relations also.

If a loved one, relative or friend has their will written by Sheltons, Edward Hands and Lewis or one of their other businesses, I would strongly advise you to get another firm with decent upstanding morals to write the will and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES allow this firm to act as executors in your estate! The bargain basement will writing service that they offer will soon pay dividends, FOR THEM, as they squander your relatives or friends funds living a lavish lifestyle through overcharging for their estate management services.

As others have said, they refuse to pay out funds which are rightfully yours, their communication is beyond abysmal. They will leave you stressed, tearing your hair out and appointing a solicitor to fight to get funds released.

There is no compensation available under the FSCS Scheme as they are classed as an Exempt Professional Firm (the word professional is obviously misused here).

The Legal Ombudsman is the service to use to complain about their services and I would encourage everyone with the slightest valid issue to raise a complain with the LO once you have received an unsatisfactory response within 8 weeks of complaining to the firm in writing or at 8 weeks if they fail as they did with me to respond to your complaint. It can be a very effective way of getting action but be aware it does take time for the LO to act as they are overrun.

You should also raise a complaint with the Solicitors Regulation Authority about any solicitor at their firm that you have had problems with and also the firm itself but the points they can consider are very limited so read their website and telephone them for advice if necessary. The SRA are very helpful.

Very efficient and professional at all times. We are going through problems with the passport office at the moment and needed to get my change of name deed re-excuted This was done in a timely manner and continued communications at all times and is willing to help and give the time to see through this application for my sons passport .as we needed this pretty quickly my solicitor did this immediately and as requested to be kept informed until passport is completed incase I need further help and support in which case I will do . Further more I'd like to recommend sheltons solicitors. I appreciate your help and support and professionalism .

A distressing and frustrating experience

Do not use this firm (Melbourne office) for wills/probate. It has taken two formal complaints and nearly two years to settle my mother's very simple estate. Avoid them if you can.

What a wonderful company to deal with. Very professional, understanding, patient and went above and beyond our expectations. Special praise going to Keeley Dove and Liz Collins for their total dedication and help. BOTH A CREDIT to the company.
