I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience flying with Fastjet as part of my international journey.

Before travelling, I contacted customer service and was clearly informed that my international baggage allowance (23kg x3 with Emirates) would be honoured. However, at the airport, this was not respected at all. Staff insisted on different baggage rules and made no effort to verify the information I had been given.

Travelling alone with an infant, I expected at least some level of understanding or assistance. Unfortunately, the staff were dismissive and unhelpful, and I was left to manage everything on my own, including rechecking baggage during transit. This caused unnecessary stress and disruption to my journey.

In contrast, the assistance I later received at OR Tambo Airport was professional and empathetic, which only highlighted how poor the earlier experience was.

I raised a formal complaint with Fastjet and was told the matter was under investigation, but I have not received any update since.

I hope Fastjet improves staff training, communication, and support for passengers—especially those travelling with children.

Got at the OR airport at 6:00with a connecting flight at 11am to victoria falls only to be delayed 7 hours later and as am writing this I’ve still not boarded yet all my plans that’s were paid n booked for had to go to waste n the airline doesn’t compensate when they delay or cancel flights ,we’ve been called to come n board and still not boarded yet just sat for the last hour so I’ve been sitting at the airport for 13hours certainly not booking again!!

A positive in flight experience on a…

A positive in flight experience on a flight from Harare to Victoria Falls. It was a much better experience than I was expecting from a low cost airline on a short haul flight. Although I had had no prior experience with this airline, I booked with them as the flight timing was better for me than the full cost competition. I would certainly book with them again in the future.

The service was terrible

The service was terrible, I flew back from O.R Tambo today, first the flight was delayed by 4 hours, yet no one had a explanation or an apology, we then go to board and there was further delays, again we just sit the with no information, we then get on the bus and again get told wait on the bus because they cleaning the plane, eventually we board, toilet didn't flush and was in a disgusting state, the basin water tap didn't switch off properly, then we arrive in Harare only to find my luggage is still in Joburg, we understand a delay or two, but the fact that no explanations or even an apology by anyone involved from Fast Jet is a disgrace. I will never fly with them again and will never suggest fast jet to anyone

Giving them a star is even generous. Worst airline, especially from HRE. Atrocious service. They certainly need competition. Book this supposed airline expecting disappointments. Ridiculous t's and c's, have seen better with other budget airlines.

They cancelled a flight and there was no compensation for cost incurred

They cancelled a flight and there was no notification until we arrived at the airport. We missed a connection flight which cost us a lot of money to change the ticket. We also lost money for the hotel booking at the destination. They refused to take responsibility. Their terms and conditions, state that they are not responsibly for any cost incurred. Book with them at your own risk! Terrible airline!!!

Bad experience

Not impressed booked to be on same flight with my sister and her family. Somehow I was placed on a different flight departing at same time.How did this happen. Not impressed.i have medical issues.You planes need upgrade too. Never again

My husband and I were flying from Vic Falls back to Harare sometime around 8/23. The ladies at the Victoria Falls Fast-Jet check in area lacked professionalism when interacting with customers. They need to get up, off their bottom, and stop holding useless personal conversations in the front of customers, and serve customers promptly. I recommend customer service training for both and if not all of the airline's workers. Customer service training seems long overdue for these workers.
I enjoyed the round trip flight though, it was just the counter crew who left a bad taste in my mouth, that's all.

Recent flight from Zimbabwe with Gate1…

Recent flight from Zimbabwe with Gate1 travel May 2023. Excellent customer service departing from Jo Burg, staff on plane, good flight. Departing Zimbabwe, customer service horrible. Boarding Pass held hostage until they got an additional $40 from me and would not let me remove items to decrease my bag weight. You are removed from line and have to go to another area to pay. I was told “can’t you just pay the money.” Reported incident to Fastjet got no help from them. If you have a choice don’t use Fastjet.

Dont use them!

Not Sufficiently inconvenienced

So I was booked to fly from Johannesburg to Harare on 3 August 2022 at 15.15. I had purchased the ticket through Flight Centre Rosebank. Today, 4 august, I’m still in Johannesburg with no idea when or whether I will ever fly on that ticket. I presented myself at the Fastjet checkin counter over 2 and a half hours before departure. I presented to them my valid passport and negative covid test result, which test had been done on 2 August. To my horror, I was informed that I wasn’t booked on the flight and should consult with the Fastjet reservation office which was conveniently located directly behind the check initial reception was courteous. The gentlemen manning the counter checked my ticket and informed me that inin counters. My their system my ticket had been cancelled. I called Flight Centre Rosebank who immediately spoke to the Fastjet folks. I guess I should note that the Fastjet counter is manned by Menzies staff who provide services to Fastjet. Obviously, the intricacies of these relationships are lost on me. As far as I was concerned I was dealing with Fastjet. The conversations between Fastjet and Flight Centre Rosebank continued until boarding closed and the plane departed. As I don’t live in Johannesburg, my next concer n was accommodation food and transport to get to the accommodation. Around 5pm, I communicated again with Flight Centre Rosebank who informed me that at that point it was unlikely that I would fly that day, notwithstanding the fact that there was a Fastjet flight leaving for Harare after 6 pm. I shared my concerns re accommodation etc with accommodation etc. They advised that I check into a hotel and retain all my receipts. In the aftermath of this mess they would seek reimbursement from Fastjet. Thus, my search for a hotel began. City Lodge OR Tambo and InterContinental OR Tambo were both fully booked. I proceeded to the shuttle parking lot and eventually managed shuttle driver from Birchwood Hotel and Conference centre to book the last with the help of a room they had. Note that the search for a hotel room involved walking around the airport for more than two hours dragging behind my 30kgs of luggage. I woke up this morning 4 August uncertain. Everything about this trip is now uncertain. By 9.30am I had spoken to Flight Centre Rosebank who were commencing the second round in the battle with Fastjet to secure me a seat for a flight I booked and paid for more than a week ago. I’m sitting at the BC Café at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre watching f lights landing at departing from OR Tambo. I think its been over 48 hours since I took my covid test so it may no longer be valid for entry into Zimbabwe. In the event that Fastjet succeeds in securing a seat for me today, I will have the worry of the Covi d test where to get one done. I noticed that the Dischem covid testing station in OR Tambo has been dismantled. I have kept receipts for the hotel and for a early dinner I had yesterday. While Flight Centre Rosebank may fight for a reimbursement of thes e expenses Fastjet may refuse any such request.

I got a call from Flight Centre Rosebank notifying me to get to the airport cos i had been waitlisted for the 6pm flight. I took the hotel shuttle and endured a long wait before being checked in.

Fast forward to a couple of hours later. We landed in Harare to find most of our luggage had been left in joburg. There was much wailing among the passengers some of whom were attending weddings early the next day. Judging by the rows of luggage arranged in different groupings, i guess, indicating different flights, leaving luggage was the norm. So on 5 August, I went back to the Harare airport at 5pm to collect my luggage.

So what is supposed to be a 1.40 minute flight between Johannesburg and Harare turned out to be a saga starting on 3 August and ending on 5 August. And still Fastjet believes I was not sufficiently inconvenienced.

Very useless Airline

Very useless Airline, when we landed they didn't have our bags and all we got was Sorry, Not Sorry, and patronizing us. Very unprofessional and their customer service is very disgusting

ZERO stars

ZERO stars, flagrant theft.
C-19 hit, Fastjet cancelled our flights. Now refuse refund, refuse further communication. This 'airline' sold us a flight, THEY cancelled it, and refuse a refund. This is theft. Will never recommend, they should not be in business.

If you want to lose your money and time, use fastjet.com

My flight to Kilimandjaro was planned for the evening but a week before arrival fastjet sent the message to me and my friends that the flight can be done only in the morning. We were offered the full refund that we asked for.
The refund was promised in 21 days but 40 days have passed and we didn't receive anything. Moreover, fastjet.com ignores our e-mails and I believe that I won't ever see my 95 USD (!) paid for this horrible service.
Be aware of this scamming air company!

pls do not use them !!! we had a case that couple should fly together to JAR and from VFA to HRE of FN .They were older couple .The mr has died and we asked for full REFUND of both tickets .we got an answer that only gentelmens ticket can be full refunded !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallo ??????????? you expect that the old lady 71 yrs Will travel alone to JAR and to VFA ??????????Disapointed !!!!
