I submitted I Feel Like I’ve Met You Before to Franklin Publishers because I understood their marketing to describe a traditional publishing arrangement in which the publisher covers editing and publication costs.

During our discussions, I was asked to contribute $1,300 toward editorial work. Franklin explained that this was an editorial contribution rather than a publication fee, with publication dependent on completing revisions and receiving editorial clearance.

That distinction did not resolve my concern about the difference between the arrangement I expected from their marketing and the one offered to me. I made clear that I was willing to undertake substantial revisions and respond to editorial guidance, but would not proceed with the proposed author payment.

My one-star rating concerns transparency and the trust lost during this process—not whether they chose to publish my book. Any circumstances in which authors may be asked to pay for required editorial work should be clearly disclosed before submission.

I sincerely hope Franklin improves that clarity for future authors.

Working with Franklin Publishers has been an exceptional experience from beginning to end. What initially felt like an overwhelming process became organized, efficient, and enjoyable thanks to the outstanding guidance I received throughout my publishing journey.

The project manager (Noah) was very efficient in getting the pickle cookbook out in a fast turn around time of only 4 months. I have worked with 4 different project managers in the span of about 1 1/2 years and they were not able to do what he did. I liked the way he communicated with me almost every step of the way from start to finish. I would recommend him to anyone trying to publish there first or even 20th book. He definately has been doing this a long time and is truly an expert in his field. I will in fact be using him and Franklin for my second book to publish.

Fantastic experience if you want to work with a hybrid publisher overall! From October 2025-June 2026, I worked alongside Noah Cohen and Michelle Estor to publish my fantasy novel Red Thread Thea Tapestry. Everyone from the animation team for YouTube Channel, to the copy editors (Chloe I adore ya), website designer( Faith) , and beyond made sure my finalized manuscript honored my wishes and challenged me to evolve the story with better context and sharper clarity. I had been working for over 15 years on my series and was nervous to self-publish or indie publish, however, the hybrid publishing collaboration really was the best of both worlds for me. I would recommend having a fully finished manuscript ( I deep edited mine twice before I sent it in to be evaluated) so the focus can be enhancing and evolving the original text versus trying to hand them a half-finished fan fiction. If you have a good manuscript and willingness to work with an experienced and professional team that prescreens works and focused on elevating them and highlighting the author’s intent and passion, then Franklin Publishers will be a good fit for you! I will be working with them on the next two books in the series as well because I trust they will produce the same quality and intentionality to all my novels!

Working with Franklin Publishers on my first book was a truly positive experience. They supported me through every step of the publishing process with professionalism, care, and consistency. Wow - This company is a SCAM! I'm so glad that I figured it out beforehand, as I just came out of another scam. When I started questioning the "Manager" (who went by two differnt first names at different times), he got very nasty.

I deeply regret my decision to sign on with Franklin Publishers a year ago to publish my first book. I was tossed around to FOUR different project managers over the year. No one took the time to invest in me as an author. Franklin screwed up my book's launch date and that's just the beginning of problems I encountered. Definitely WOULD NOT recommend.

"We wish to inform you that, due to unforeseen natural disasters and other external factors, we are unable to fulfill the shipment of the 15 copies of your book as originally planned."
It has been one month since they notified me, and I have not received the $248 reimbursement they promised me (below), and there is no good reason I should have to wait longer than a month for a credit back to AMEX.

5 Stars — A Journey Worth Taking, Plot Twists and All
While my experience with Franklin Publishers began a bit rocky—feeling rushed by the sales team into making a commitment—I’m now deeply grateful I stayed the course. With the steadfast support of my literary agent, Robert Riddle, my dream of publishing a sci-fi novel has become a reality.
Robert has truly stepped up, offering the kind of consistent guidance and encouragement that made all the difference. We’re continuing to refine our workflow as we collaborate on future projects, including an upcoming children’s book series.
To be honest, it is a huge learning curve. For any first-time authors out there: it can be disorienting to work with a team you’ve only met via email and calls. In today’s world, trusting customer service is no small ask—but I’m glad I chose to stick with Franklin. My one wish is that their onboarding process could be more thorough and that communication details were a bit tighter. Things can sometimes get lost in the shuffle—but I’ve come to realize that’s part of the creative (and very human) process.
Big thanks also to Erik, David, and the editor Richard, who helped navigate some rough patches. Every publishing journey has its plot twists—and in KINDSIGHT, I know mine was worth it.
I recommend Franklin Publishers especially if you're working on progressive or cutting-edge material that deserves to be shared. Be patient, stay engaged, and let Franklin help you tell your story. Just don’t expect it to be hiccup-free—what good story ever is?

I made the mistake of requesting info just to see what it might be about and then I had the audacity to get busy with my real job instead of answering. In the span of an hour this morning, I received 4 texts, a call, and a voicemail and when I responded to the text to politely ask them to remove me from their list after saying the above was a bit much, I got a sarcastic response of “you forgot to mention the email”. I told them thank you for that unprofessional response and again to please remove me. I got yet another snarky response saying “I did the first time when you messaged me. You messaging me afterwards opens up a new inquiry. But, you should read that email.” When I told him again that this was unprofessional and poor business practice, he responded with “You just opened another inquiry. Sounds like your having a bad day, maybe today isnt the day to publsh your book? Take some time out. Revisit the idea later.” To which I finally blocked it entirely.

Like… how unprofessional can this person be? Erik is a poor representative for Franklin Publishing and I would not recommend utilizing any publishing service that employs tactics like this.
