Having had a FIT installation put in 10 years ago, I decided it was time to update my Solar panels, with new panels and adding batteries. I Eventually decided to go with a Sigenergy system, 11 x Aiko 475w panels replacing the old 24 x 120w panels, Sigenergy 8kw Inverter, Sig Home Backup pro SP-F and 2 x 10kw batteries. I wanted to keep my FIT payments, so the install had to be done a certain way to enable this. This required ALL the old FIT installation to be removed from the roof and the loft, before the new installation could take place. A lot of installers will tell you that you cannot upgrade a FIT installation, but it is possible if done the right way.
I Spent a long time researching a suitable company and wanted someone fairly local. I happened across GJM Energy who were in Bedford so not too far away, the online reviews were all very positive, so a Teams meeting was arranged by Ellie with Gavin to discuss what was required. From the outset they were a very professional company, Gavin knew that I had done my research and was a great help in confirming what I needed was indeed a good fit for me.
A further site visit was then arranged, and a contract signed and install date set. From the minute this was done the customer service was the best I have ever had from any company I have ever dealt with, they immediately set about sorting the DNO and G99 paperwork, which came back within the week for a full 8kw allowance, taking all the stress out of the paperwork side of things, they do this before they install, so no waiting to switch your energy supplier and the subsequent delay in issuing the DNO & G99 that others seem to have.
Due to how quickly they got the paperwork back, the install was then brought forward 10 days, the scaffolding crew arrived 2 days before and were done within a couple of hours, ready for installation on 16th February.
On the day, Jamie arrived with the electrician, and all the parts, panels, cables, roof rails etc were delivered to the house, at the same time as they arrived. I work in Logistics and the planning required to arrange for everything to be delivered at the right time on the right day was first class. After talking with the electrician and advising I would probably add another battery later next year he made sure the cabling would be long enough and fitting location suitable to do this without it having to be moved or rewired, something a lot of people have issues with later on but this wont be the case for me.
The install was completed within the day, and Jamie went through everything on the app with me, all the required paperwork DNO, G99 and MCS were delivered by email the following day. The scaffolding came down 2 days later, all very efficient.
After commissioning I discovered that I needed to change they way the system worked as I needed to measure the production from the panels to a single generation meter, to enable me to keep my fit payments running, no problems with this a new design schematic was produced, with the changes required and the work was completed yesterday 9th March.
I now have a fully upgraded system from my old FIT system that still qualifies me for my FIT payments as well as using cheap rate electricity on Octopus Flux to charge my batteries, and the ability to export back to the grid when the sun is shining. In the current climate with everything going on in the world, that’s a good place to be, just need some sunshine now !!!
Gavin should be very proud of the team he has working for him, as for the other team members I have dealt with, Jamie, Ellie, Jemma, nothing seems to be too much trouble, everyone has an outstanding customer service ethic, they are polite, friendly, and have no issues with explaining anything you ask, or changing things when you ask them to. They leave no mess after the work has been done, and my experience of the whole process has been nothing short of outstanding.
There are a lot of different companies in this field and it’s a bit of a minefield trying to find one who “Does what it says on the tin” I have no problems with recommending GJM Energy to anyone who is thinking about getting solar and batteries installed. Talk to them, you wont be disappointed.

During the early stages, Gavin was fantastic throughout the sales process. He was knowledgeable, patient with our questions, and took the time to explain the system options clearly without any pressure. It made comparing solutions much easier and gave us confidence we were choosing the right setup.

From an administration perspective, Ellie was brilliant. Communication was quick and clear, and she kept everything moving smoothly with paperwork, scheduling, and updates.

The installation itself was handled by Cezar, Jamie, Max, Alex and Johnny, who were a great team. They worked quickly and efficiently, kept us informed during the install, and left everything incredibly tidy once the job was finished. It was clear they took real pride in their work.

Overall we’re very happy with the system and the service we received. A professional, friendly team throughout, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend GJM Energy to anyone considering solar.

These guys have been a breath of fresh air and offered such a high standard of communication and quality that i can say i'm impressed. They took all the stress out of a tricky situation.

Earlier in the year we had a solar installation beset by issue from day one by an installer that misled about their credentials and delivered a badly designed, badly installed and ultimately faulty Solar, Battery and car charger.
After the original installers ghosted me, I found GJM Energy on the MCS register. (can happily say they are accredited up the wazoo with the relevent trade bodies!).

Gavin was there right from the get-go and laid out the possible options from repair to replace. Absolutely no-nonsense regarding specs or pricing. Ended up getting Aiko panels and FoxxESS system with heated battery (mounted outside).

From that point Ellie was on point with communications/paperwork and kept us updated up to date of install. There was a new Gateway/Homebackup option released a couple weeks before the installation. Dropped us a short text message if it's something we wanted to look at. Had a look, no hard sell, fair price and they managed to get it without having to delay the installation.

Save for the scafolding, installation was done within the day! On the day Jamie, who had previously visited to do the site survey, was there. The parts were there in the morning and everyone was impressively co-ordinated. We didn't have to do a thing, save for a few coffees and keep the biscuits topped up on the plate. Special mention to Jamie and the electricians on the day who tolerated my clarifications, questions and suggestions on how things were run/positioned and how they worked. After it was said and done, they walked me through the system and made sure everything was setup and working on the App.

Since then, everything has worked great and it's worked without issue. I've no doubt if there was an issue they would be on it.
Wish i had used these guys first. If i had another roof, I'd have them fitting more panels without question!

GJM provided quotes and install of 16 PV panels, inverter and battery. The work was all done in a day (scaffold were already in place) while we were on holiday. Very trustworthy, knowledgeable and excellent communicators. Estimates and certificates all done very fast and with no fuss. Also very friendly. Highly recommended.

Just had a solar/battery storage system fitted by GJM. I cannot speak highly enough of Gavin and all his team, who had to work in extremely difficult conditions,(storms Bert and Darragh!). Everyone worked hard and arrived exactly at the times arranged!
