We only have one aim, to give savers direct access to, or allow trustees, employers and providers to provide tools their pension savers need, to improve their retirement outcomes. Put simply, there are plenty of tools which tell pension savers if they take A each year, earn B returns, their pots will last for C years. For almost everyone these offer no practical help, as nearly everyone has other income or savings to put towards retirement. Included in these are State Pensions, Final Salary pensions, ISA savings and part time work for example. Some of these are taxable, some are not. Our tool is the only fully holistic planning tool that can be used directly by individuals without expert input. Our tool answers the one question pension savers actually want answered, "How do I use everything I have, to get the after tax income I want in retirement?". Nice and easy to use and I was able to put in all the relevant details. However I have been doing flexi drawdown for the last 3 years and I was unable to input what amount of my pension has been crystalised. Unless I missed something.

Many thanks for the review, if you have said you have started accessing your pots we build you a plan from next month. In the Wants page it asks "did" rather than "will" you take a 25% lump sum at retirement.
However that only works correctly if you took the full 25%. If you didn't take it all then it will overstate tax.
We will add that functionality at some point put lets say you took 15% so 10% of any pension pot payments are still tax free. Just put 90% of the value in pension pots (which will be all taxable if you say yes to the 25pct question) and 10% in savings pots (which arent in drawdown) Its not perfect but its a very close approximation.

Very good free pension calculator
Very good free pension calculator, plenty of options to experiment with, would be nice to be able to adjust more of the assumptions, and of course calculate for a couple but unlike big company calculators they don't nag you via email or cookies.

It’s a good product but I’m not sure it addresses tax accurately eg if I say my savings are x you don’t then seem to attribute an income to that ie bank interest and then you don’t address the tax payable on the interest. Maybe I’m missing some of the tools or misunderstanding how to use the tools

That's right you cant. Regulators would not let us allow people to choose the length of retirement and enforce a prudent single length (i.e. 25% probability of survival). Why? Because some people may not have sufficient enough knowledge to estimate their own life expectancy. Unless I can prove every user does have the knowledge to do this, I can't offer people the option to vary it even if I would like to.

Excellent retirement income modelling tool
Very easy to model how to use pension and other savings to achieve your target net income in a tax efficient way. An eye opener for me, because I was struggling to get my head around it all using just my own efforts with an excel spreadsheet!
Really useful, and easy to play around with your numbers and scenarios.

Guide is a superb tool
Guide is a superb tool. The process of planning retirement finances and cash flow is laid out extremely clearly. The interface is very logical and clear requiring enough detail to be realistic without needing too many details. It uses relatively simple assumptions but that is fine given no one knows what will happen in the future. You can download a detailed report with guidance on cash flow year by year. It is also free!
I would like Guiide to offer planning for couples as well as individuals.
Overall I think it is an excellent resource and would recommend it to anyone interested in planning for retirement.
