I was charged £29.99 for my advert to be taken down after a second of being advertised but I was not paid back or told why it was just tuck off just that I will get an email as to why but I never got this so I email them 2 days ago and have still not had an email back or my money back. The price as gone up dramatically to in a short space of time I'm very annoyed right now that iv been scammed! I will be contacting the consumer rights regarding this matter.

very basic features, don't expect any checking and vetting of users and good luck buying and selling stuff...

Never again! After years of selling on Gumtree I've now deleted the app. Reasons as stated on other reviews. Total waste of energy.

What have they done, been usinggumtreefor years...just opened gumtree and its Been updated..awful.. keeps saying something gone wrong, won't open, no search alerts, hard to track things you've saved..
Better sort it out or bye bye gumtree

GUMTREE IS A SCUM GUM, WHICH NOT ONLY FOLLOWS YOU ONLINE, BUT ANYTHING TO DO WITH MONEY THEY THEMSELVES WILL SEND YOU FAKE MESSAGES FROM FAKE INTERESTS. Then when you click In link in message you have being SCUMED PERMANENTLY ON EVERY WEBSITE ON INTERNET YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MONEY. If you complain they will take your money and STILL CONTINUE TO LINK YOU TO ANYTHING FINANCIAL , TO GET YOU TO CLICK IN FAKE LINKS WITHIN ALL OTHER WEBSITES. THEY WILL SEND YOU ERRORS NUMBERS, MEANING THEY ARE IN THAT CLICK. SO WHEN THAT HAPPENS SWITCH ALL OF YOUR DEVICES OFF, AND SWITCH OFF INTERNET FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS, THEN RESTART ALL OF IT AGAIN. THAT WILL CLEAR SCUM GUM LINKS AND KEEP DOING THAT WHEN EVER THEY SEND YOU NUMBER ERROR CODES. So over any website you are on they will send you fake links. THEN THEY WILL SCUM YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN. You would think that you were scammed by other websites, BUT NO BEHIND EVERY SCUM IS GUMTREE PROFESSIONAL SCUMBAGS, BECAUSE THEY KEEP YOUR DETAILS AND EVERYTHING YOU DO ONLINE IN THEIR SO CALLED SCUM BOOKS PERMANENTLY, BUT THE SCUM BOOK CREATOR AND OWNER AND OPERATOR IS GUMTREE AND THE ONLY USER OF THEIR SCUM BOOK IS GUMTREE. THEY ARE SAYING THEY ARE CONNECTED TO FRAUDS PREVENTION, BUT THE ONLY FRAUDULENT PEOPLE ON GUMTREE EVER IS GUMTREE THEMSELVES PERIOD. SO STAY AWAY FROM GUMTREE THEY ARE SCUM FOREVER PERMANENTLY. Terrible company, you write out your listing, but it can't be posted until you have paid your £34.99, when they have your cash it's immediately deleted! message reads your advert has been deleted because of some imaginary infringement, and states you will be sent an email with their reasons for deleting, which of course never is sent! Just set up to rob you! Stay well clear! not the site it used to be!
I feel you need negative stars for this one

They deleted my ad that they charged me £25 for just because my phone number was in the photo . No warning or asking me.to change the photo just deleted it and refuse to give a refund

I am using gumtree because on there you can find everything you're looking for and you can also find things that are not around anymore in shops and I do go on there because I though things will be more cheaper like today on Wednesday the 18th of June. 2024 I found a pair of trainers I was thinking to get and they was to much money and thy cost about £50 and that was too much money because you have to add on the post from where you live and that will make it go up even higher plus it is more money and I would pay. Plus I have seen Retro Art Deco style Bedside Tables - £150.00

Used Air force 1 white size 9 - £60.00

But adding on the postage it will come to more money and it does depending on where you live but on the low prices sometimes might not be good in quality and something it might look good quality until you use them and then you find out they not good quality after all as thy just look good like they are quality and it is just. Really really ridiculous ! to have things so high price knowing the post will make it even higher anyway the trainers I was thinking to get was brand new and people are just selling them at a high price because they want there money back for what they have payed for them in shop or on the website. And I have seen other new trainers on the site for £126 and higher but um it's just still ridiculous !! on prices of thing on Gumtree plus I come to Gumtree because I stop using eBay as I have close my account on eBay because it was to much money on the site for things I needed so I come to Gumtree thinking it will be more cheaper BUT HO NO ! it`s the something as eBay SO WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKIG PUTTING THINGS AT A HIGH PRICES ON THINGS. I MIGHT HAVE TO STOP USING GUMTREE LIKE HAVE ON EBAY. SO WHAT ! ARE PEOPLE THINKING ON THE HIGH PRICES. Plus some people cannot afford things because of high prices and because most people now days are renting a place because NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO BUY HOUSE because it is just impossible to afford a house by buying it. So I wish Gumtree sort the prices out on there site or I just I have to stop using Gumtree like I have stopped using eBay.
THEY NEED SORT THE PRICES OUT ON THERE SITE ASAP before more people stop using Gumtree as well.
But I know Gumtree will NOT sort the prices on there site or read this and reply to it as they just do care about there customers.

On Sat 21 July 2024 at 11:31 pm I close my Gumtree account because it is getting to much money on the site like eBay is so it will be 2end site I have close because it to much money as people are only selling there things as high as. They want there money back for what paid for them in first place online or in shop so all I can say just be careful on price of things.

I was informed by the seller that my partner could collect a suitcase that he was selling. My partner turned up at the address to be then told that he would not sell to her. When she asked if he had sold to someone else, he said no and was now it was not available, however there is still an active ad on Gumtree. Very shoddy to be treated in this way.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Gumtree has now become a scam. Every time both my husband and I have tried to post adverts, they have declined it and refused to provide a refund not explaining why. Stay away from Gumtree. They have become scammers!

There are 'buyers' who are trying to lure people.
I've noticed a few new profiles that either a) ask for your number, b) ask to collect from your address or c) ask for you to come to their address.

Quite frankly, if the profile has no ratings (good or bad) i don't engage with them.

Constantly getting let down by the ( is it still available) ( no show wasters) . Ready to give up gumtree now .

I have been using Gumtree for few years and lately got contacted by very rude buyers who messed me about a lot. One of them didn't even turn up to collect the item. Few weeks later I found that I was left extremely negative review and my seller rating dropped badly due to that. I contacted Gumtree customer service and they said nothing can be done about bad buyers leaving negative feedback. I asked for this matter to be raised as a formal complaint so it can be taken seriously and the live chat advisor (Alistair H) responded with: sorry I cannot help you further, have a good day. Then ended the chat in my face !!!

Very very bad service, I can't believe they allow things like this. They should just get rid of the review system altogether if it can be abused this badly.

Can't see messages or manage my ads just keep getting "The server you are looking for is currently not available." been like this nearly all day now. Even the app on my phone is the same.

Recently opened an account, did my first post and then spent all day trying to find it. It was found in the inactive posts with the word "removed" so tried to find out how this might happen and then created another post completely reworded. again the same result so I contacted through the live chat, I was informed that it would be looked into. It wasn't, so I started another post again rewording and being extremely cautious whilst reviewing the terms of use. Again the same outcome so I contacted through the live chat again and was told I would receive an email explaining, it certainly did not explain and very abruptly told me that I was never to post again and the the matter is now considered closed. what kind of response is that and how unfair considering they never even explained to my why this had ended in this way. I contacted again through live chat to see if I could get some answers and was basically told there was nothing they could do and no answers or explanation, I said "so where do I go from here" I said should i then delete my account and the answer i received was nothing more then YES. I am absolutely disgusted in the way this website treats people, if this is their attitude towards genuine people trying to sell a caravan then I am really sickened by them. They didn't even have the common decency to explain the situation to me and instead treated me like some kind of criminal. I will never end telling people the truth about gumtree and the way I have been treated.

I don't get the low ratings. Especially the one with 1 star for completely baseless conspiracy level accusations.

Anyway, I always put my items on Gumtree and it gets sold. Quick and simple. Yes you get the odd buyers who are interested then back off. I have always messaged multiple sellers and picked the item I want. People need to learn to be polite and give an update that they're no longer interested, that's about it.

I used to use a place (that I shall not name) which charges like 20% commission and have so much issues. Even once got scammed and their support did nothing.

Gumtree really needs to make a simple process of "sold" so I don't need to delete my item. It would also be nice to see new or old account labels.

I would also add something for old users with 100x buying/selling should be allowed to rate and view ratings.

Placed my first ad with a £12 promotion fee.
No interest from genuine buyers only scammers.
Resulted in my financial information being open to a series of scammers. in Russia. My information was not protected by Gumtree and received no support or advice from them about this serious information breach.
Cost of £12 to have my information hacked.
No apology or reply to my problem from Gumtree only to confirm information to close my account.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I have used Gumtree for years, both buying & selling - mainly positive experiences. However, recently i was selling an item which was an hour's drive from home. A prospective buyer expressed strong interest & after much to & fro discussion via Gumtree, we agreed a time to meet, with 2 confirmation messages that day beforehand. The buyer not only didn't show but blanked me afterwards.
I wanted to leave a negative (honest)review about the buyer, so other sellers weren't scammed by them. I contacted Gumtree and apparently in the category my item was listed in- you can't, only in the For Sale category. I pointed out my item was 'for sale' to no avail. Ridiculous!! I asked if i could relist under For Sale; was told it would be in the wrong category so would be removed. So that means sellers of thousands of items have no protection against trustworthy scamming buyers......
No wonder their rating on here is abysmal.

Pathetic Time Wasters.
Full of sad pathetic lonely people that have nothing better to do than ask you if it’s still available then don’t bother following up.
There is a ‘report seller’ option but clearly nothing ever comes of it.
Don’t bother listing anything, you will regret it!!!
