Only after placing an ad I found out that people viewing the ads can only message you etc, if they register with gumtree, obviously lots of people don't want to give their details just to contact you about your ad, also had a message from gumtree saying I had an unopened message, but when I clicked on the link to view the message gumtree say they can't access messages at the moment, the next day it is still the same so I can't receive any enquiries.

Waste of time and money.

Would give zero if I could they take your money to post an add but then remove it before it even goes live I was advertising my litter of french bulldog pups when I received an email stating they have removed my add as they don’t believe it meets there pet posting rules. I then screen shotted 10 adds of French bulldog pups the same as my add that are active and queried why they were fine yet mines wasn’t, to receive a second email stating that the add was infact deleted because I have gone over the 2 pet/litters per 12 month policy. I have not so I screenshotted all my old adds and asked for proof that I had…no reply no refund absolutely AVOID

Don't use anymore. Too many scammers. Some of them are quite abusive. Do not give out your personal address to anyone and definitely not your phone number. Meet somewhere nearby even though this is a hassle. I tend to meet in a local carpark and tell the buyer what type of car I drive and only give the buyer the first part of the registration number. It's terrible that things have become like this. I remember even 5/6 years ago that selling on Gumtree was often quite pleasant. Unfortunately, nowadays, selling stuff is no longer a happy experience at times. I take more stuff to charity shops, as it is better than facing a barrage of scammers and abusive thugs.
I was able to delete my account, as I was receiving unwanted threats, which Gumtree are unable to prevent. Unfortunately, the world is full of Psychopaths and a lot seem to appear on Gumtree as scammers.

Listed a bike paid to get to top of the list the ad was deleted before it was posted with no reason and my money was taken, sent an email said wud reply within 24hrs i also went on live chat the girl said she wud get bk to me within a few hrs still no word days later so contacted live chat again and the woman didnt even reply she just closed the chat, reading all the reviews seems ther just stealing peoples money, shud be brought to justice for the criminals they are.

As a beekeeper I'm on the lookout for "bargains" locally. Gumtree has been patchy, but yesterday I concluded a deal with someone who clearly had bought new kit to start the hobby, but never got around to using it and decided to de-clutter.
Gumtree enabled a pleasant transaction with minimal cost as the seller worked a few miles from my home and I was able to collect and pay cash.
Yes, there are ads that I wouldn't follow up as the filter for distance is erratic. Also some sellers ask silly prices. Annoying, too, when ads stay one for yonks, unaltered, and you wonder why.

Used to use it all the time until the ridiculously annoying pop ups and adverts ruined it. Now i use Shpock instead

Selling my snakes and a PS5 on gumtree and they removed and deleted it for breaking rules even though it hasn't. I went to support and spoke to Faye C who said she will get back to me shortly via email about the problem and never. Went to support the next day spoke to Monisha who said the same thing. Still nothing still no help still no progress. SHAMBLES of a support and platform it's sickening. DO NOT USE OR GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY TO ADVERTISE.

As so many others have said, you spend time entering the relevant details, then they inactivate the ad without sending a message to explain why.

I thought the ad was live, but when I checked back after a week, it had been deactivated for some unknown reason.

They’ve changed my name on my account without my permission, the date I’ve joined, messaged customer services to get that sorted and they never bothered replying to me. I’m in a process of deleting my account if I can ever get an email from them to reset my password. They have now also blocked me on online chat, what a joke.

I placed a add they took the money then took it off I had to try chatting it bot it took 3 hours to get put back on then a week later they took it off again I asked on messages because no one would talk on the phone That’s a joke in it’s self

Still no one will call or send me a complaints form I won’t even use them again it’s a disgusting way to treat customers they get away with just keeping your money

I have used gumtree for years on & off without any problems , yesterday and today i have tried to place an advert . Both times they have been rejected and they were going to message me why they cancelled them and yet still waiting for a reason , Don`t think i will bother trying yet again i`m just glad i didn`t pay for the advert to be boosted .

A joke of app, platform and company! Very unsafe un regards to handeling personal data! Avoid!

Gumtree really need to up their game when it comes to reporting time wasters and individuals who message obscenities. Had a buyer who seemed ok and agreed to call in the evening, only for me to receive a message early evening asking me if I’d like a “B*** J** when they call to collect. Needless to say I blocked this parasite but unfortunately they have my address. Tried to report this but when clicked on their name..my name came up. How do I report this Pervert and stop them from intimidating others.

I have tried to put items up for sale and I keep being notified that it has been listed, but it never has been , if it's not going to be listed then I am being told lies , as you say it is now listed , again , today I tried to list a lamp , yes it is now listed ,,,,,,,,, NO , it's not !! Is Gumtree a real site. ?

I tried to deactivate my account today without any success 3 times !

On each occasion I pressed the DEACTIVATE button on the message they sent me and was told OOPs and shown a cat with a tie! Really this is not a joke- at least I don't find it mildly amusing.

It also states this page does not exist !

I posted a few items on Gumtree, I had a response to buy an item, they wanted my bank details for deposit but they also asked for my bank balance which set the alarm bells so I rang my bank and cancelled my card, so please be aware, I also took down all my items from the site.

I'm absolutely appalled by Gumtree's unprofessional and arbitrary behavior in handling user accounts. I had a paid account with them, which I believed would ensure better service and support. However, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Out of the blue, Gumtree decided to terminate my paid account without providing a shred of evidence to support their decision. I had been a loyal user, and it's beyond comprehension that they would treat a paying customer in such a callous manner. It's a clear violation of their supposed commitment to fair and transparent practices.

I attempted to contact their customer support to inquire about the reasons behind this abrupt termination. To my dismay, I was met with nothing but silence. No explanation, no clarification, and certainly no evidence of any wrongdoing on my part. It's as if they can just take your money and discard you like yesterday's news without any accountability.

I had invested time, effort, and money into building my presence on Gumtree, and to have it all snatched away without a valid reason is not only frustrating but also deeply unfair. If there were any legitimate concerns or violations on my account, Gumtree had an obligation to communicate those to me and give me a chance to address them. Instead, they opted for a blanket account termination with no regard for their customers.

In an age where transparency and customer service should be paramount, Gumtree's actions are a clear demonstration of their disregard for their users. I cannot in good conscience recommend Gumtree to anyone, especially those who value their time and resources. If they can treat a paying customer with such disdain, I shudder to think about how they might handle free users.

I urge anyone considering using Gumtree's services to proceed with caution. The risk of having your account terminated without evidence or recourse is very real, as I unfortunately found out the hard way. Look elsewhere for online marketplace solutions that value their users and uphold principles of fairness and transparency.

Took payment of £9.99 for a pedigree kitten. Approved the advert then removed my advert instantly with no contact I contacted them and they are saying they dont allow my health tested pedigree breed then refuse to refund me and blocked me on live chat

Terrible terrible service. I put an ad in 3 times and 3 time it was removed without any reason or explanation as to why. It was for a burgman 125cc and uploaded photos for show. They said an email would be sent to me explaining the reason but nothing was sent. It would make sense if I just banged my head against a brick wall because I would understand why I did it. Even trying to get through to them on live chat is impossible because it’s an automated service. How is that called live chat. Absolutely shocking.
