Useless. they don't answer the phone.
Stay well clear of them.

I insured last year with this company and they have now renewed my policy without my agreement. In order to cancel I apparently have to PAY them £20 and an amount for every day I'm insured (without my consent!!!). How very convenient for their income stream that they only inform me TODAY that they have renewed, making sure of £20 plus one day's insurance. A great marketing tool, but they have lost a customer forever so perhaps they should think that through a bit.
I am unable to contact them immediately as the only way to do so is apparent via their 'app' and I don't use apps. I'm 73 and cannot be bothered filling up my mobile phone with these annoying, memory hungry things which require me to type on a mobile phone - a totally annoying waste of my time and energy. So I can't email them or phone them until tomorrow (which will mean I have to pay two days insurance that I don't need as I have already started a policy with a different company). This smacks of sharp practice to me, and I object strongly to them helping themselves to my money, and even MORE of my money in order to cancel. Never again with Hastings and I suggest anyone reading this thinks twice about using them. Any other company I've ever insured with - and I usually change every year as each insurer usually loads the price, then when you tell them you don't want it, THEN they want to reduce it. I won't play those games so always move providers as a matter of routine. I've NEVER has a previous insurer just assuming I would continue with them.
EDIT: When I was able to get in touch with Hastings to cancel the renewal, they waived the additional charges when I told them I had NOT chosen automatic renewal when I originally took out the policy. I am grateful for that and it shows good customer service after the event.

They have no respect for people or their time. I have been waiting to hear back on getting damage to my vehicle repaired for 3 weeks. My calls are not returned, my emails are not answered. The one time I reached someone in the office I was "transferred to the adjuster" aka hung up on.
