HCI: Elevated Employee Experience Review
I attended the conference from Wednesday to Friday and all of the speakers were really engaging and informative. I learned a lot from this conference. I brought a lot of new ideas back to my company that I'm eager to try. The location was nice. I really appreciated the use of the AC; I usually get hot pretty easily but that wasn't an issue. The food provided was delicious and as someone who has a lot of food allergies, I really appreciated that they put ingredient note cards out with each dish. I also enjoyed the semi customizable schedule.
The topics were great and relevant
The topics were great and relevant. The speakers and host were great and kept the audience engaged.
I appreciated the opportunity for questions, and felt the speakers were experts in their area. I had great take aways and felt energized to make some positive changes in my work and the work of my team and organization.
As a possible change, I would have liked shorter break times and ended the days a little earlier. Overall was a GREAT experience!

The content covered engagement from many angles. I thought every presentation I was a part of had helpful, practical take-aways and things to consider.

This is for the EEE conference
This is for the EEE conference, which I thought was a very good conference. A few suggestions for next time:
- because it's a smaller conference (which I love), it would be great to offer participants a searchable database to find each other afterwards - even a simple form to enter your name and LinkedIn info would be good.
- it would also be great to intersperse more interaction / conversation opportunities. The day got long with being talked to while sitting in those chairs, so a lightly structured roundtable session would have been nice to have once or twice.
- the workshop style sessions were the most helpful to me - the faciltator from Scotland (blanking on her name!) who had us writing about our own employee onboarding - anything to help us quickly apply what was being talked about to our own organizations was really engaging
- There were two accessibility "oops" I thought I'd pass along. First, the facilitator who told people to stand up if ... (I wouldn't do that - not everyone can comfortable stand up). And second, the HCI research session about employee engagement - the colors on the slides made the information REALLY hard to read. Someone who was color deficient or blind would never be able to read those.
- I also would have appreciated a group walk or 5 minute stretch or yoga or something midday to have some social connection and also to get out of those rooms!
- the food and service were really great and much appreciated!
HCI EX Conference
I recently attended the EX conference and found it to provide great speakers and a good location/venue. There were several different definitions being used for "employee experience" which altered my expectations and my takeaways. From a tactical standpoint, I would have appreciated power strips at the tables in the conference rooms so I could easily take notes on my laptop the entire day. Also, the music between sessions was fun, but during the sessions it was too loud and distracting. The food quality was wonderful, but as a diabetic I would have appreciated low carb options at the lunch.
Being in person made the experience…
Being in person made the experience great, especially getting to meet other professionals and learning from them their challenges and successes.
HCI Denver 2024 was AMAZING!
The speakers were phenomenal and were able to give great insight to how things are working in their companies and can be applied to other organizations looking to enhance their employee engagement experience
Perfect Size - Can't Wait to Go Back
I really enjoyed the HCI conference. This was my first event with the organization, and I really enjoyed the size of it. It was not overwhelming, unlike SHRM, where you frequently get locked out of sessions and have to run around an entire convention center. The timing of the events were great. The topic covered was great, and I appreciate the diversity of the speakers. I look forward to attending another HCI conference in the future, and hope they maintain the smaller size, because it really made a positive impact.
Recertification Process is a Joke
Don't expect to have an easy time trying to figure out how many credits you have towards recertifcation. They require a certain amount of credits, but there is not an easy way to determine how many you have.
You need to count them invidually. Then to make matters worse, their recertification process requires you to upload a copy of your HCI transcript, but that cannot be downloaded. I guess they want you to screenshot it.
I am incredibly disappointed, but have to play their games because I need recertification.

The instructor was very knowledgeable and the materials/workbook allowed for practice/application of the content.
Great speaker; bad tech issues
Great speaker, but very bad technical issues. The speaker's laptop had some weird intermittent technical issues throughout the two day course. Sometimes we heard him plainly, while other times his voice cut out or sounded garbled like he was talking underwater. THe speaker is very knowledgeable and provided good insights and examples. It was just a shame to have tech delays and interruptions. For a pricey course, I expected top notch from HCI. I contacted my HCI account liaison, and he was helpful during the process.
Great Experience
The experience was really great. The guest speakers were excellent in their delivery and were experts on the Discussion topics. HCI is keeping current with trending statisitics and relevent topics. Love how you can go back and view the videos and presentations if by chance you were distracted by work during the conference.

I liked the majority of the speakers, especially the ones that were engaging. All topics discussed and presented were very helpful.
Excellent Presentations and Flow
The presenters were excellent and the flow was great! I took advantage of one of the cafe sessions and it was a nice way to do that. Overall, great information, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Unorganized
I took the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Certification and it was very unorganized with lots of technology issues. The instruction was an hour late the first day and tried to keep us late the second day. Plus have the time she was unable to share her screen due to technology issues. I wish the instructor had a second person helping as I think it would've been a better experience. I can't remember much of what I learned because it was disjointed and interrupted by tech issues. It was not worth the money due to these issues.
2 Good presentations
Two out of the five presenters held my attention. I really thought that Shelly and Justin's material and presentation was the most thought provoking. 2nd would be Elora's presentation. The others felt like they were just reading their slides.

I thought it was really well rounded- addressing several different areas of DEI.
