Gardening Express Reviews 

I’m not sure if they should have the option of using the word express in their logo. Thus far I am 12 days in from placing my order and it still hasn’t been dispatched. I “raised a ticket” through their automated customer service, apparently they will get back to me within 24 hours, we’re 48 hours in and not a word from them.
This company is not worth the hassle—highly recommend that you shop elsewhere for plants!

GE have replied and agreed to credit the items not shipped. I'll have to wait to see if the Tulipa Tarda bounce back in Spring. I am still waiting for another order to be sent out so hope the condition is an improvement. Changed the rating to reflect the communication.

Plants arrived, partially shipped. 6 plants are just pots of soil. They are packed ok and all watered but not fantastic. The 6 pots of Tulipa Tarda AKA soil pots are disgraceful. I think I would have been better donating my cash to a much needed Charity. Awaiting a response from GE. Hopefully they can sort it out by sending my refund. Wish I could upload a pic. Come on GE this type of service is unacceptable.

Absolutely disgusting company avoid at all costs! I purchased a Acer tree. It arrived half head, dry, infested in ants and beetles. It had been flung over my 8 foot gate therefore also had been out of its soil until I got home. I instantly sent photos across to the company who advised I would need to pay for a return? The tree arrived not as described at all compared to the photos on their website and The condition of the tree is awful!
Fast forward 3 weeks the tree is now completely dead. I followed the after care advice they palmed me off with which clearly did not work as it was well on its way to death when I received it. I am now being completely refused a refund as they’re trying to claim I have not followed their advice. Absolutely disgusting! Daylight robbery! Please please do not buy from this company. I shall be reporting to trading standards

I received a poor excuse for a magnolia yellow bird, what arrived was a 7ft twig with 3 leaves!! I have issued a complaint, asked for a refund, I keep trying to get a sensible reply, since 23rd April. All I wanted was a replacement, but now I just want a refund if £49.99 so I can go to another nursery and buy one

Paid nearly £80 for plants that arrived wilted and dying, after a few weeks were dead. After a great deal of hassle, I found their chat and asked for help. They were so unhelpful and their attitude was 'tough luck'. No refund or replacements. Please avoid this company, they are thieves!!

Guys, you’re better off spending a bit more and knowing you’ll get something healthy and thriving. £22 for four dead or barely alive plants – I can’t even begin to describe the terrible condition these plants are in.

Wow ordered 2 standard rose trees and a selection of bulbs I am truly amazed at how well they are growing bulbs are already in bud and the trees are looking amazing only planted them a week ago will certainly be placing more orders delivery time was about 2 weeks but well worth the wait thank you so much to everyone involved

If I could,I would have given this company minus 10 stars . Last order in 2019 and had problems with quality of plants provided. Now in 2026 same issue. Rose bushes dead on arrival.
Complicated returns policy with the customer having to fork out for postage. You can't talk to a human- never again.

Made a first time order, unfortunately didn’t read reviews beforehand. Can say this is first time and last time I will order from them.

Plants arrived in poor state, badly packaged. Customer service nil, no phone number, still waiting to hear outcome of photos and complaints. Do not use this company, I wish I had paid via PayPal as I would have had some comeback. Will write to CEO Chris Bonnet but I am not hopeful of a reply. Avoid this company at all costs

Wish I'd found these reviews before ordering. Received a California Lilac tree in bloom, unlike some of the reviews it wasn't bad. Just a little tired from the packaging and delivery. After planting though, it didn't flourish and 3 weeks after receipt, it's yellowing. Like others, I tried the chat and got errors messages about uploading- I know the format is fine. Waited a couple of days for an email and told to supply photos, packing slip etc. I tried to reply with photos but got a non delivery nessage on the email. Tried again with 1 photo, same non delivery. I then received an email stating 'no further assistance ' could given as this plant wasn't covered by their guarantee (are there any really?). I tried to send another email with no attachment and got another non delivery message. So it appears their Customer Service inbox is full , well no surprise. Shocking service, don't waste your money.

ONLY HALF ORDER ARRIVED AND THOSE WERE COMPLETELY DEAD, IMPOSSIBLE TO COMMUNICATE AND ANY EXCUSE NOT TO REFUND. I AM NOW TOLD BY OTHERS WITH SIMILAR EXPERIENCE THAT IT COULD BE A POSSIBLE SCAM.

I ordered a few plants the 5 ready to plant out foxgloves were of very poor quality, limp brown leaves. They have been in water but are not reviving very much. My issue is that there is no easy way to discuss this with the company obviously they way on purpose I’d say! My advice look elsewhere do not use this company.

I purchased two 10ltr hydrangeas mophead blue £56 last April 2026 , they arrived when I unpacked them I couldn’t believe the poor quality of them, they were so pot bound the pots were split in half , the stems were covered in moss no life in them whatsoever. I immediately complained to the customer care team, I was told give them a year they will recover , not a hope in hell I told them . One totally dead, the other one did spring to life but poor quality. The 5 year guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on.
Please do not give them your money go to a garden centre and pay a little bit more. These people are criminals who know nothing about their plants .

AVOID THEY ARE SCAMMERS. IMPOSSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY SENT A STANDARD ACER WHICH I DID NOT ORDER AND THEIR RESPOSNE WAS AS BELOW THEY SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE TO TELL ME THE TYPE OF ACER I AM GETTING. THE OTHER PLANT IN THE ORDER WAS SHOCKING TINY WITH ONE STEM! KARMA WILL GET THEM.
here is no reference to the form of the tree, we do not state it is a standard, or that it is not.

This is a live, healthy tree and is as expected and so if you did wish to receive a refund for this, this would need to be returned to us prior to us issuing a refund or replacement, etc.

I am sorry for any inconvenience caused, but this is as advertised.

I was shocked by the condition of the plants I received two weeks after ordering from Gardening Express. They were dumped on my doorstep in broken and dented boxes without a knock to announce that they'd arrived. A friend in the front room saw this and advised me. We were both shocked at the state of the plants which looked really beautiful on line but were in a pitiful state, some even diseased. I spent £209.68 and the company has resisted reimbursing me even though I've offered to take the plants that, with care, are likely to come back to life. They have refused to call me and every time I message them I get the same response back asking for more photos. I spent two hours taking the photos in the way they asked and yet they still ask for more photos and show no signs of reimbursing or discussing.

I feel totally hoodwinked as the website is professional and inspiring and they claim to guarantee quality and good customer service. Five of my plants have black spot and the others are just bashed, beaten and dry and may well come back to life. I do not recommend this company. I have wasted money and now have to buy the plants again elsewhere.

Plants arrived in very bad condition soil dried out and don't look like my order as plants to tall plants withered don't look like they will survive

Very unhappy! We are creating a new garden that, for the previous owners here had been a 20 x 6 ft gravel strip alongside the garden path to our front door.
It's been a big job for 2 elderly people. I have been buying roses and peonies to plant there, so that visitors get a lovely welcome when they visit. I've managed to buy flowers that are flowering this year and needed another peony to complete the planting.
I've used Gardening Express before and the plants have been OK. They advertised a "Paeonia Coral Sunset - Peony - In Bud & Bloom". I wanted this particular flower and thought it would be perfect.

It arrived, in a large pot, I opened it and it has ONE LEAF!! That's it. Anyone who knows peonies wil know, I am not getting a flower this year!

I paid £16.99 for the plant and £6.99 for delivery, for ONE LEAF!!

I now find there is no way to getting touch to obtain a refund, this is not what I paid good money for. The Chat Bot doesn't work, there is no way it will let me type into it.

So, I am left with the only recourse of leaving a bad review (something I don't usually do) as a warning to others.
