Very unhappy!!
Very unhappy! We are creating a new garden that, for the previous owners here had been a 20 x 6 ft gravel strip alongside the garden path to our front door.
It's been a big job for 2 elderly people. I have been buying roses and peonies to plant there, so that visitors get a lovely welcome when they visit. I've managed to buy flowers that are flowering this year and needed another peony to complete the planting.
I've used Gardening Express before and the plants have been OK. They advertised a "Paeonia Coral Sunset - Peony - In Bud & Bloom". I wanted this particular flower and thought it would be perfect.
It arrived, in a large pot, I opened it and it has ONE LEAF!! That's it. Anyone who knows peonies wil know, I am not getting a flower this year!
I paid £16.99 for the plant and £6.99 for delivery, for ONE LEAF!!
I now find there is no way to getting touch to obtain a refund, this is not what I paid good money for. The Chat Bot doesn't work, there is no way it will let me type into it.
So, I am left with the only recourse of leaving a bad review (something I don't usually do) as a warning to others.

Incredibly disappointed – poor quality plants and zero customer service
I received a large order of plants today and the quality is deeply disappointing. Nothing arrived in good order. The sweet peas are pot-bound with broken stems and yellowing leaves. The azaleas have completely gone over the top and look in a very sorry state, the foxglove leaves are badly damaged, and several alpine plants are completely missing, very little was healthy or worth a fraction on the price I paid for it.
To make matters worse, trying to get in touch with the company is nearly impossible. They only offer an AI chatbot for contact. After ages trying to navigate it, the AI told me my order was "outside the 14-day window" and refused to help—despite the fact that the plants were delivered today. I will never buy from this company again. Buyer beware.
I purchased two climbing roses in April…
I purchased two climbing roses in April and they arrived very tightly bound in plastic and coir. I planted them up in compost and have been watering them but they’re dead. Just not sending out any shoots. The chat box I’ve just tried is dreadful, I just keep getting the same message from AI about pruning them back. The system is tricky to upload pictures on too, you have to save to files and reduce the image size.
I’m disappointed in customer service but just won’t buy again from this company.
I ordered two standard photinia trees…
I ordered two standard photinia trees in March, didn't have a problem ordering the above however the delivery driver just dumped them in the garden & was very rude & unhelpful. Two months on & one of the trees looks really good but the other looks blooming awful & just not thriving. Contacted the online company but I just got a ai chatbot. NO CONTACT NUMBER OR EMAIL ADDRESS
I bought some orchids
I bought some orchids, they arrived 8 days later and 2 of them looked almost dead. The flowers were 'finished'
I went on line to ask for the 2 orchids to be replaced, they asked for the photos to be loaded onto their website. I was unable to load the photos onto their website...... for what reason, I don't know, I often upload photos so am reasonably experienced, but these photos would not load! I asked for an email address to send the photos to, but was told I couldn't do that! So I paid £26.99 for two dead orchid plants!
Customer service were not flexible in anyway and other than sending the photos to their website, did not offer any other help!
Ordered a miniature cherry tree
Ordered a miniature cherry tree, arrived after 7 days.
When I opened it, lot of the leaves had been eaten or died. Contacted the company by a AI Bot. ( No telephone number….wonder why?) Then I was required to send in via email, photos of the tree, label on pot, despatch note..etc etc. only to be told some plants get distressed in transit! They suggested to me to repot it and it should be fine in a couple of months! What a load
of rubbish! This plant was already diseased before it was sent. So beware, I would not purchase anything further from this ‘Company’ 😡

Unable to give zero stars.
Delivered a tree that I wasn't sure was alive. Gave it 3 weeks to see and decided it was dead. Tried to contact supplier, no phone number, hopeless chat bot that cuts you off before you can give your message. All I managed to ascertain was that I needed to return it within 14 days if I wasn't happy with it. Not sure how you know within 14 days. Impossible to contact thrm in any reasonable way. DEFINITELY DONT BUY. Having looked at reviews on here, I wish I'd done so before ordering. Suffice it to say that there's actually a Facebook page named Gardening Express dead trees!!

delivered plants are size 100-110 which are advertised at £19.99 ea.
Response from Gardening express is that height is measured from bottom of pot not soil surface (for a hedging plant !

Gardening Express claim to guarantee their plants. I received a banana plant from them which has stem rot, but despite sending photos showing quite clearly the issue they refuse to replace (or refund) the plant, they state this plant isn't covered by any guarantee. After numerous emails I'm unfortunately no nearer receiving a replacement plant. Please be aware and avoid.
Gardening Express are SCAMMERS
Gardening Express are SCAMMERS and should be avoided at all costs. Purchased 2 x Nandina plants and 2 x ‘Salix integra Hakuro Nishiki’. All were meant to be “Large Specimens”. Arrived in extremely poor condition. The Nandina’s were tiny with the ‘domestica Lemon-Lime’ measuring just over 6 inches with numerous broken stems. The Salix integra Hakuro Nishiki had numerous broken stems and only leaf at the very top of long unpruned stems. The plants had not been pruned or cared for. Upon removal of the plants all were found to be pot bound and one of the Nandina’s was crawling with beetle insects. Customer Service is appalling. Ignore the supposed no quibble 14 day money back guarantee, it’s worthless. Returns are your responsibility until they reach Gardening Express and have to be re-packaged and returned using an insured and trackable service at your own expense. It just isn’t worth it especially when they use every excuse in the book not to refund you. Gardening Express are SCAMMERS and should be avoided at all costs.

I ordered 2 ornamental grasses. Normally hardy things but both died in a month. One dying is one too many but both died which is so bad. Was told that the ‘guarantee’ is only within 14 days. Just didn’t care. Big scam.
I ordered 3 magnolia trees
I ordered 3 magnolia trees. They were bare rooted and the company web site promotes a 5 year guarantee for hardy plants.
They arrived in a battered state, but as they were bare rooted, I potted them on and hoped!
Almost one year later, no signs of growth in 2 trees though one has leaves.
I asked for 2 trees to replaced or refunded to no avail. I've sent photos etc as requested and now they say to write via post to complain.
The Company does not register via Revolver nor accepts PayPal - so to cut a long story short I've wasted £75 and just have one small tree with no flowers!
No way of escalating the complaint to the CEO Chris Bonnett.

I’d give them 0 if I could. Customers service is terrible. 1/2 my order failed to arrive - they are just blaming the delivery company and making no effort to resolve. Worth paying a bit more to a company that actually delivers

Dreadful experience trying to get a delivery date for my order ordered 18 days ago with no prospect of a tracking date/delivery.
Customer services couldn’t care less and do not respond to questions in relation to an update on orders.
Avoid this lot like the plague - utterly useless as is their complaints process with a CEO wholly uncontactable and a completely ineffective ordering system.
Will never order from here again - they do not appear to give a damn about the customer…
They have now said they have refunded me after I insisted on a cancellation but pardon me for my cynicism but I will believe them when I see my money back in my account.
Honestly, spend your hard earned cash with a reputable company and stay wide and clear of this outfit!

I ordered a magnolia tree, followed the care guidelines and has shown no signs of life. Customer service responded with reference numbers and exemptions for the guarantee. Very much a grey area, especially when going through the purchase process on the website.
I put forward a response, there was no change in response and followed with an address for a formal complaint as they couldn't help any further. £35 down and months and months of caring, watering and talking to a dead twig in the ground! Saw me coming I think! Avoid!
