We booked an accommodation via Booking.Com that is managed by Holidu.. We arrived to find the property filthy, with stained sheets, dirty shower and toilet with excrement.. Every surface was unclean and beds were unchanged from the previous tenant!.. Holidu are asking me to refund some of a part refund total incurred by the property owner.. In short pay pal fees.. I’m the one out of pocket and they are asking me to do a refund!! Communication is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced!! just avoid .. I’m still trying to recoup what I paid in a property I never stayed!!

Beautiful house in tranquil surroundings. It had everything needed as described. The pool was brilliant, beautiful views to sunrise. Host very friendly and helpful, good communication and lots of activities to do as extra.

Great guests, warm connection, we hope to see them here again soon!

The pictures of the villa were as was, lovely with great views although the electrics were little dated. Not happy that every time we revisited the website the price had gone up substantially. Communication was good and the process for payment easy.

Avoid Holidu at all costs – they ruined a huge part of our family holiday

I am absolutely furious with how Holidu treated us.

Before booking our family holiday, we specifically contacted Holidu because having a private outdoor pool was extremely important to us. We didn’t just rely on the listing. We ASKED them to confirm it.

A Holidu customer service agent confirmed to us IN WRITING that the property had a private outdoor pool.

We trusted that confirmation and booked.

When we arrived, there was no pool.

The villa itself was lovely and the host was wonderful, so I want to make it very clear that our complaint is NOT about them. Our problem is entirely with Holidu and the information they gave us.

What happened afterwards made an already upsetting situation so much worse.

Instead of enjoying a holiday we’d saved for and looked forward to for months, we spent hours trying to get help from Holidu. Their automated customer service system sent us around in circles and seemed completely incapable of understanding the actual problem.

We were on holiday with our family. We should have been relaxing. Instead, we were stressed, angry and constantly having to travel elsewhere to access water, paying additional costs for things such as parking and sun loungers because the amenity Holidu had specifically confirmed simply wasn’t there.

Those are hours and days of our family holiday that we will NEVER get back.

When we finally managed to deal with actual people at Holidu, I expected someone to understand just how badly we’d been let down.

Instead, we felt there was virtually no empathy or meaningful accountability.

One of the proposed solutions was effectively for us to leave the accommodation partway through our stay and find somewhere else. In peak summer. At extremely short notice. With our family.

How is that a realistic solution?

The alternative compensation offered was, in our view, completely inadequate considering the disruption, additional expense and impact this had on our holiday.

What makes me angriest is that WE DID EVERYTHING RIGHT.

We didn’t misunderstand a listing.

We didn’t make an assumption.

We specifically contacted Holidu BEFORE BOOKING and asked them to verify the pool. They gave us written confirmation. We relied on their answer and spent our money accordingly.

Yet when that information turned out to be wrong, somehow WE were left dealing with the stress, inconvenience and additional expense.

People work incredibly hard and save all year for one family holiday. It’s not just about money. It’s about time together, memories and a week you’ve spent months looking forward to.

Holidu took a huge part of that away from us.

The villa itself was lovely. The host was lovely. Holidu was the problem.

I have completely lost trust in this company and after the way this was handled, I will never book through Holidu again.

Great apartment, accurately described on the website both its strong points and reviews with constructive criticism. The whatsapp mechanism for ordering extras was hard to follow but did work.

We booked on Holidu (never used them before and never will again!). After booking, we received emails from Holidu, Expedia, Vrbo and another company. I didn’t even know who I paid my money to - there were that many companies involved.

After booking and paying, the host sent us a message asking us to pay a non-refundable £45 deposit and sign a tenancy agreement. He did not tell us how to make the payment or send us the tenancy agreement. I’ve stayed in many places and have never signed an agreement before so I was a bit sceptical about this. I sent multiple messages to the host to ask him to provide the missing information but he never responded.

We were supposed to receive an email with the key code for the property about 1 hour before check in. We received an email but it did not have the key code on it. At that time, we were sitting in a car park with young children waiting for the code. It was not clear who to contact in an emergency. After a lot of searching, I finally managed to speak to a human being at Vrbo. They could not contact the owner either. They also could not give us a direct refund. We had to request a chargeback on our credit card. The whole ordeal took 2 HOURS to resolve. We then booked another place at the last minute - otherwise we would’ve had to go home. It took 10 days to get our money back! I will never book with Holidu/Expedia/Vrbo/Modern Homes ever again!

Luckily, we managed to book another place at the last minute but the whole situation was extremely stressful!
