Just completed a Driving Ban course…
Just completed a Driving Ban course facilitated by IAM Road Smart driver retraining academy, and found it to be very enlightening. It was run over three consecutive Mondays and the level of detail provided was exceptional in ensuring that the knowledge and learnings were at a level which were very understandable and achievable against the objective of the three days. My knowledge of the law and its impact along with the impact of my own actions have been a huge wake up call. Well done to Caroline who was our Instructure for the three days as her presentation skills were exceptional. Thank you.

Enjoyable experience
Sally and the other participants were great. I was very apprehensive before starting and was relieved after the first few hours. While its serious and a lot of deep topics were covered, it was nice to still have a laugh and a chat with everyone on the course. Highly recommend to anyone for extra knowledge!

The course was set over 3 sessions.
Liz was very easy to get along with and the course topics were made very simple to follow.

I purchased an IAM RoadSmart Advanced…
I purchased an IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider Course in April 2026 with the intention of improving my riding and ultimately working towards volunteering opportunities.
Following the initial welcome communication, I experienced repeated delays and had to chase multiple times for updates regarding training arrangements. Communication was inconsistent and I was left unclear on when training would realistically commence.
I appreciate that training delivery relies heavily on volunteers and I was prepared to be patient if expectations had been managed clearly from the outset. My disappointment was not the delay itself but the lack of proactive communication and needing to repeatedly follow up.
By the end of May no observed riding sessions or substantive training had commenced and I had unfortunately lost confidence in continuing. I requested a refund, however this was declined under the organisation’s stated terms and conditions.
During the complaint process, IAM RoadSmart acknowledged that my experience had not met expectations and confirmed that my complaint had been escalated and reviewed internally. Despite this acknowledgement, the original decision remained unchanged. It’s important to note the company did not deliver any service, was not out of pocket yet STILL refuse to refund my money.
I have since started advanced rider training elsewhere at ROSPA, who, in the time it’s taken I AM to deal with my complaint have been able to accept my membership, allocate a tutor and commence my first session - it’s also considerably cheaper too!
