In last 12 years it has gone down from top to bottom.
App keeps throwing tantrums.
They keep asking for verification docs more often than normal.
Their service fees are unacceptably high.
Time for me to move on.
I’d have given them Zero star if it was possible.

Deschiderea unui cont este foarte complicata și durează extraordinar de mult, iar aplicația mobila este... de rasul lumii.

A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE ! THEY BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT ANY REASON !

Very bad experience... I would never recommend this bank. I started to open my account in October 2025. Now, it is end of December 2025, and after two visits at the bank and many messages with their costumer service, I still didn't succeed in opening ING Young accounts for my daughters... The only good point is the nice and polite staff, trying to be useful, but they can't succeed because of the ING's stupid regulations. AVOID THIS BANK IF POSSIBLE!

AVOID THIS BANK – SHOCKING AND DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE

I am a foreign citizen and opened an account with this bank. Everything seemed fine until I was summoned for a so-called “data update.”

I went in person to the ING branch on Bulevardul Eroilor, Cluj-Napoca. The teller checked my documents several times, clearly struggling to understand them (they were in a foreign language), and then presented me with printed forms to sign.

Total shock: the documents listed me as a Romanian citizen, with a made-up Romanian personal identification number (CNP), and my official documents from my country of residence were described as being issued by the “Romanian authorities in Cluj.” Essentially, the bank had “naturalized” me on the spot.

I left the branch thinking I had accidentally entered the Population Records office or the National Authority for Citizenship. Obviously, I had taken no oath and requested nothing of the sort. I returned and pointed out that the documents were false and that the bank had no legal right to change citizenship or assign CNPs.

The staff’s reaction was aggressive and arrogant: I was told that “this is how the software works,” that I didn’t understand Romanian well, and that I was speaking too loudly. Zero accountability, zero professionalism, zero respect.

Seeing I was talking to a wall, I left the branch—declared a Romanian without request, without an oath, without any legal basis.

Later, I received threatening emails about my account being closed “in stages.” I filed complaints with ASF, BNR, Consumer Protection, and other competent authorities.

A week later, another “consultant” informed me that the document falsification was “a human error,” but my account would be suspended anyway if I did not provide absurd and nonexistent documents (NIF, NAF, DSC), which I had never been informed about and which had never been requested when I opened the account.

Conclusion: serious incompetence, lack of oversight, major legal risk for clients—especially foreign citizens. If a bank is capable of changing your citizenship on official documents, imagine what it could do with your data or money.

Strong recommendation: avoid this bank.

I've had my account with them for half a year now, this is arguably the best bank in Romania at the moment. The app is very good and full of nice features you dont find on other local bank's apps. The customer support is good, they even have a chat option which I've used and my problem was solved quickly.

Evitati sa faceti schimb valutar la ING! Va fura pe fata! Am schimbat o suma mica de Euro din greseala si am facut imediat inapoi conversia si am pierdut 1000 Lei! Sunt alte banci mult mai serioase!

Absolutely awful. Been trying to close my account for MONTHS and it does not work. Went to the bank, they can't close it there, I need to do it online or in the app. But the browser and the app has been giving me the same error for months. Even showed them in person. "Just keep trying at home". Thanks for nothing.

HOW CAN YOU STOP BEING A CUSTOMER AT THIS PLACE. Been paying the tax fees on the account for nothing.

(How is it possible that you can't close your account at the bank. When you go there. In person. Asking from real people. They really need to update their processes if they can't make the website and app work correctly (FOR MONTHS) because what is this.)

Cea mai proasta experienta. Sunt 3 țațe(ca doamne nu le pot numi) care stau si nu fac nimic si niciuna nu ma serveste. Se poate asa ceva? Sa stau sa astept aiurea?

Astăzi am contractat un credit de nevoi personale de la ING Bank Ferdinand Cluj. Am fost deosebit de impresionat de prestatia Andreei: profesionalism, rapiditate, bună dispoziție. Mulțumesc! Dorin Rus

Eu și soția mea am fost clienți ING peste 5 ani. Experiențele noastre au fost marcate de lipsă de transparență, superficialitate și, din păcate, minciuni repetate.

Totul a început cu creditul „Noua Casă”. De la început ni s-a spus că avansul este 15%. Cu o zi înainte de semnare, banca ne-a informat că, fiind străin, trebuie să plătesc 25%. Am fost pus în fața faptului împlinit. După ce am făcut plângere pentru discriminare și am plătit avansul, m-au chemat să-mi spună că... nu există o astfel de condiție oficială și că se poate renunța la ea. Dar doar după ce am plătit diferența. No comment.

Recent, când am început procesul de refinanțare, ING a aflat că vrem să plecăm la altă bancă. De acolo a început un lung șir de minciuni. Ni s-a spus că reprezentantul lor nu a ridicat acordul de garantare de la FNGCIMM. În realitate, fusese ridicat cu câteva zile înainte – confirmat oficial în câteva minute. Răspunsul lor brusc? „Aaa, da, a fost ridicat de noi.” Serios?

Apoi, ni s-a spus că nu putem refinanța la altă bancă decât dacă refinanțăm mai întâi la ING. După ce am demonstrat că acest lucru este fals legal, au zis din nou: „Aaa, da, corect.” Manipulare pură, până la proba contrarie.

Ca bonus, acordul oficial pe care ni l-au emis conținea „Subsemnatul name” (da, chiar așa scria!). Și lipsea și numărul cărții funciare. Profesionalism zero.

În cazul soției mele, am cerut explicații clare prin email. Am primit două răspunsuri ambigue, gen copy-paste, fără conținut real. Iar într-o altă vizită, când am întrebat ceva despre procesul de actualizare a datelor, răspunsul a fost: „Eu nu fac consultanță financiară aici.”

Nici măcar simulatorul oficial de pe site nu e în regulă: dobânda afișată este 7,64% (IRCC 5,55% + marjă 2,09%), dar la ghișeu ți se spune că marja e 2,29%. O diferență „mică”, dar fără explicație. Încă o contradicție care îți taie încrederea.

Și peste toate, se adaugă o atitudine arogantă a unor angajați din backoffice, care cred că sunt deasupra clientului, deși profesional, nu-i recomandă nimic special. Problema nu e doar cu angajații – e cu întreaga cultură internă a băncii.

Recomand oricărui client să analizeze serios dacă ING merită încrederea lui.

Și vă rog, nu-mi răspundeți cu „vă rugăm să ne scrieți în privat pe pagina noastră de Facebook”. Strategia asta de PR e obosită. Folosiți-o cu altcineva.

Experiențe neplăcute tot timpul . De evitat

RO: În cazul unei fraude online, îți spun că nu au ce să îți facă. Te trimit la plimbare. Tocmai ce mi-am blocat cardul de debit, după o utilizare frauduloasă și mi-am făcut alt card de debit din aplicația lor, asta e tot ce am putut face.

LE: Mi-au restituit suma...

Extremelly unprofesdional!! Blocked account and my money for no Reason and without any explanation! And their employees are non stop in break mode .!! Hahaha 😆😆😡🥺😳🤓🤡worse than in market place, laugbing loud and talking loud while the customers are in the bank! Wow!. Lack of eveeything!.. such a shame people!.. good bye!..

O banca de tot rahatul,2 zile sa valideze un cont pentru un minor.

This bank is a huge SCAM!!!
They blocked my account for no reason.
I provided everything they requested TWO MONTHS ago and they just don't reactivate it.
The only answer I receive every day is "You need to wait, the case is being reviewed".
They don't have any information or any time frames. Nothing. They will NEVER do anything to return your money to you.
I recommend never to open an account in this bank, and if you have a similar problem as me - just hire a lawyer and sue this bank.
