I gave up and lost all my stuff. I’ve never written a bad review online in my life. It’s taken me months to write this, but I genuinely just don’t want any of you to go through the same thing. I got off lucky in a way because I wasn’t shipping my entire place from LA to South Africa. I just wanted a few furniture pieces I loved, plus clothes and boxes. Well, I lost all of it. I read the positive reviews here, ignored the negative ones, and I wish I hadn’t. Like many of the bad reviews, I was quoted $2,800, all my stuff was taken, and then I was hit with almost double the amount — $4,800 — and I was still in for port fees of around $2,000–$3,000 (which I realized when I came back to read the bad reviews after I’d already used this company).

Say I gave them the benefit of the doubt — which isn’t accurate, but let’s just say… I’m sorry, but you JUST CANNOT DO BUSINESS like this. You cannot quote someone one price, take their stuff, then double the quote and hold their belongings for ransom. You cannot do business in this order.

Firstly, I had someone on the inside tell me that my stuff wasn’t even the size they were quoting me extra for. Then I asked for my things back (I had a friend offering to keep them for me), and Michael quoted me another $2,750 just to get my stuff back. How does that make any sense when I was originally quoted $2,800 to get it all the way to South Africa? What kind of numbers are those?! When I asked, Michael said it had gone to port in LA and those were the fees. But it wasn’t — it was in the warehouse. I had inside intel and a photo to prove it. So he lied, as he will many times if you do business with him. Do you want to trust a liar with all your possessions?

I had no way to fight this or get my stuff back. So I just left it. I was asked to pay for storage, and then they said they’d dispose of my things. I didn’t have the additional money to store it, so I dug deep into some Buddhist principles and just let it all go in the name of protecting my peace. Again, in a way I was lucky because I had so little stuff, and I just thought: I can’t deal with this guy for the next four months and risk paying even more money.

As you can see from these other reviews, other people were not as lucky — he held their belongings ransom and they had no option but to pour more and more money into it. I made the decision to wipe my hands clean. Michael was rude from the start, to be honest. He was short and NOT understanding — and I’m a very nice person to people when doing biz. I had quite a few questions. I’m a young woman and it was my first time shipping things internationally, and when I sheepishly said, “Sorry for all the questions, I’ve never done this before and moving internationally is quite stressful,” he barked back, “Not really,” and shut me down. It was a red flag, and I wish I had listened to my gut then.

I’m pretty sure most of these reviews are fake — because you can actually do that on here. You can buy reviews. I suspect this because, back then, there were a bunch of bad reviews on the first page just before this happened to me, but I stupidly ignored them in favor of the good ones. When this all went down, I came back to this page and about 12 or so new “positive” reviews popped up over just two days — and they’re all vague, saying vague stuff. If you go back and look, they’re always scattered around the same date.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Even if, maybe — MAYBE — every now and then they do a good job (which I think is a lie, but let’s just say), I still wouldn’t roll the dice on working with a liar, an extortionist, and a bully. I had sentimental things I lost — not to mention the monetary value. Anyway, I still think I got off easy compared to the other horror stories on this page, but I came here because I genuinely want to speak up and protect you and others from this company and these people. Trust me please. I can’t wait to see what he replies with what pathetic excuse or lack of accountability.

I wouldn’t wish our experience with Inter Movers LLC on anyone. From start to finish, it was a nightmare. The movers (3 men, one of them named Igor who was the worst one) were shockingly unprofessional, they smoked inside our home, broke several of our belongings on purpose which the security cameras caught and forced us to help them under threats. Worse, they shouted at us, intimidated us and a few times, their aggression felt like it might escalate into physical violence. They genuinely scared us in our own home.
What should have been a straightforward move stretched into an agonizing ordeal that took far too long, left most of our belongings damaged and cost an absurd amount of money. Inter Movers LLC doesn’t deserve to be in business. They’re not movers, they’re bullies who destroy trust, property and peace of mind. Hire them if you want your worst fears about moving to come true.
