Worked flawlessly. Our flight was delayed and almost did not make the pickup time as counter closed at 10PM.

Device was waiting for us at the hotel as promised. Worked well throughout our weeks in Japan. All ports we visited (cruise ship tour) gave us no problems. WiFi is very reliable. Great customer service.

This is my second time availing their pocket wifi. Very user friendly, easy to pick up and return, the price is very reasonable.

I rented two devised. By the 3rd day, one of them didn’t hold the charge. It will overheat and disconnect.

The device is very old. When turned on, it shows “SIM card not ready.” I had to call customer service twice, and they asked me to reset the device 4–5 times before it finally worked. In the end, the cost of calling customer service was higher than the rental fee for the device. The internet speed is also very slow—sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m not sure if this is because the SIM card is locked.

I rented a 4G unlimited data hotspot. No issues with pick and drop off was super convenient (just put it in a self addressed envelope they provide at the post office in the airport).
Data worked well for four of us sharing the hotspot. It came with an extra battery pack so the device lasted the whole day.
Would rent again next time we visit Japan.

I’ve used Japan Wireless every time I traveled to Japan and based on my personal experience I have yet to encounter an issue with the connection or with the hardware. The company makes it easy to either pick up the unit at the airport or have it delivered to your hotel and to return the unit (via self postage envelope you drop off at the mailbox) before flying out of Japan. Based on my experience if you want a smooth, seamless experience, give Japan Wireless a try.

Apparently even though Japan Wireless claims "No Speed Throttling. No Data Caps" for "Truly Unlimited Pocket WiFi." However, it appears that SoftBank does have "fair use" data caps, and if you exceed those, you can be MASSIVELY throttled, to the point that it becomes completely unusable.

In my situation, I used the mobile Wi-Fi without issue for the first 2 weeks, but in week 3 the connection became completely unusable. Although I would have expected any carrier throttling/data cap to be lifted after 24 hours, it was not, and remained in place for the last 3 days of my reservation. I attempted to call Japan Wireless' Japan phone number to resolve this, but it was an outgoing message only in Japanese which simply invited me to leave a message, and it wasn't clear if a message left in English would be responded to. With no help from Japan Wireless, I was left having to resort to arranging for alternate internet for the last 3 days.

I really wish that the real life throttling/data caps were more clear, and that there was some sort of warning if you were getting close to being throttled/capped. Yes, I uploaded some digital photos, but nothing beyond that which I had done before using Japan Wireless portable Wi-Fi, such that I had no expectation of being hard throttled like this.

Japan Wireless was a great addition to our Japan trip! It was waiting in our hotel upon arrival and gave us reliable internet for our whole trip. It even comes with a backup battery. Drop off was seamless too with a prepaid package and easy mailbox drop off. We would highly recommend them for your next Japan trip.

Japan Wireless pocket Wifi was great for our family of 4 throughout our 14 day trip. Easy to pick up, use, and return. We'll definitely use again.

Japan wireless was fantastic! Our box was waiting for us at our hotel, it was so simple to set up, use and return. They responded quickly to a question I had. I would highly recommend them.

We couldn’t have done without it. The hotspot was a lifesaver. There were eight of us to travel together almost constant communication going on day-to-day. The charge lasted all day without a battery back up, with excellent dependability. Hotspot with slim and easy to carry.

Used Japan Wireless pocket Wifi for three weeks. Easy pick up at Haneda airport and simply post back at the end of usage period. Very simple setup so we were connected quickly. Item provided excellent Wifi coverage for two phones and tablets, everywhere we went. Useful to have a power bank provided although we didn't need to use it. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan.

Used this pocket wifi for 19 days throughout Japan. 2 adults and two teenagers. Was great 95% of the time, dropped out occasionally in train stations etc but overall was good. The power bank that was given to didn't seem to work but thankfully we had another power bank that we could use on long days out and about

GREAT service. device is easy to use , just turn on and connect. Excellent to have solid wifi anywhere we went . Speed was good, would watch Netflix at night with no problems. Thanks Japan wireless

The service was good. Delivered to my hotel. Super easy. The wi-fi signal was great. My issue was the instructions were too hard to read, small print size and incomplete explanation of the different screen prompts. The biggest issue was very difficult to recharge the device and a relatively short battery life. By the end of the week I couldn’t recharge it and stopped using it. I would not recommend.
