JD Gyms - Castleford Reviews 

Good selection of classes included in membership, open to all abilities which is good when just starting out.
Lots of equipment but very popular during pre-work and post-work hours so best to have alternatives for any personalised work outs otherwise you might be waiting a while.
Easy entry system and polite staff in Castleford.

Everything is fine and don't have any problems

It’s not a crazy busy gym , with lots of choices of exercises , a bit of everything i would say. Only few downfalls are : the fact that i haven’t seen tap water yet anywhere around the gym floor, maybe i missed it , the racks with the extensions for the exercise machines are actually boxes but are there at least ,and it’s taking them quite a bit to repair the broken station will do with a bit more cable machine as i’v seen they always busy but in the same time because of the space , you would have to replace another machine , so really not bothered as much .
Strongly recommend to try it before you make yourself any ideas.

My gym appears to me to be a lot smaller than the website seems to suggest. Out of 8 cross trainers only about 3 or possibly 4 work properly 2 fully out of order. I have trouble with the entry system too sometimes have to climb over to get in .. not too impressive I might look for somewhere else

Cardio equipment old style and weight benches not suitable

This gym is not suitable for people who take exercising and fitness seriously. The price is very competitive and is the reason I’ve been a member since this branch opened. In recent months the maintenance for this gym has become non existent, lots of machines including cables, leg curl, rowing machine and cardio equipment are out of order, some have been out of use for weeks. The cables in particular are frustrating because they have been out of use for quite some time and have broken multiple times. It doesn’t make me confident that the equipment in the gym is safe to use. Understandably, due to the price and location of this gym it is extremely popular but the issue lies with selling memberships willy nilly and not having the maintenance measures in place to cope with the amount of use the equipment gets. I’ve submitted tickets highlighting these issues but I just receive a non-response saying they’ve escalated the issue to the manager and head office but no action is taken. In summary:
This gym is not for you if fitness is important to you and you don’t go to the gym with a plan in place, the experience is an example of you pay for what you get.
This gym is for you if you go to socialise and want to keep it cheap if you’re not sure you want to commit to getting in shape.

Great gym plenty machines and classes r good too

I had previously been at the Exercise4less gym and wasnt the biggest fan but since joining in February I have really enjoyed going to JD Castleford. New management doing a great job down here. Special mention to Adam, Lloyd and Connor - always happy and helpful when on the gym floor. Gym itself very functional with all the equipment you need including 2 boxing bags. Sauna in mens changing is great. Keep her lit!

No one at the front who I could speak when joining the gym for the first time.
Cleaning lady spent all the time sitting in sauna (with clothes and shoes) on her phone!
Really don’t like lockers with lock pads - another money to spend..

Easy to sign up cheap monthly fees and no contract fantastic

The gym is quite small in comparison to other jd gyms. I would also prefer to be able to book classes so I know I am able to join if I drive all the way there.

Very welcoming staff as they are always wanting to help.
Really clean equipment including changing and locker rooms.
Would extremely recommend.

Easy to set up & simple to access & use. The walk through video covered most of the gym.

clean and tidy nice range of equipment and very big. safe changing rooms and a nice variety of stuff here, musics not bad and location is easy to get to.

all you need to train properly

I was a member at xercise4less previously and left because it wasn't fulfilling my needs. I have gone back to check out the gym under new management and it feels like the gym I want to be at again.

Amazing gym, staff are always so helpful and friendly. It’s a pretty layout so it motivates you more and theirs all the resources you need.
