I was recommended Magnetic North by a friend when I was planning a trip to Norway for my elderly mother and myself. I wasn’t disappointed with the service I got! I explained what we had in mind and Annie put together an itinerary which was great. It included hotels, 4 night Havila cruise, transfers and flights. Everything went extremely smoothly from start to finish. I would definitely use MNT again and recommend it to others.

Our trip to the Faroe Islands was our second holiday with Magnetic North and as with the first everything was perfect, great itinerary and excellent trips and advise. The App is particularly helpful and an organised WhatsApp group ensured we were in constant contact in case anything went wrong. We travel a lot and I cannot rate Magnetic North high enough.

We had a terrific experience planning a trip with Annie and the Magnetic North team to Iceland, Sweden and Norway. I had a million questions, which Annie patiently worked through, and crafted an itinerary that worked really well for our family of four (including two active teenage boys). The biggest challenge for me with travel is often figuring out where to splurge and where to save. It’s easy enough to plan something on your own when you are either trying to get the cheapest deal or money is no object. What I find far harder is deciding what experiences or hotels are worth spending more on vs. saving. This trip ticked all the boxes- for example, arranged private hotel transfers and private guides for hiking, but no need for a private guide to see a city like Upsala- just took the train from Stockholm and wandered a bit.

The Swedish biking along the archipelago was absolutely great- and organized through a local touring company. Even though the weather didn’t perfectly cooperate (with rain on many of the days)- we still had a great time and really got a flavor of the countryside.

The Magnetic North app is brilliant. Easy to see what is on plan each day, with all tickets etc attached.

Every transfer etc went very well- never had an issue finding our driver or guide at the airport or hotel and the hotels were always well situated and lovely. The only issue we had on the entire trip- the room in Oslo didn’t have sufficiently sized beds for our teenagers- was handled immediately and effortlessly through a What’s App message. Even though it was late evening, Annie handled it immediately, and found another additional room that made everything work. That issue alone made using this travel company worth it. I don’t want to spend my vacation time arguing with a hotel clerk regarding a room. We simply had a drink at the bar, and it was resolved within 30 minutes.

I have already recommended MN to a number of friends, and would absolutely use them for a future trip.

We had a great time in Norway, doing a self-drive from Bodo, to the Lofoten islands, up to Vesteralan, Senja, Tromso and onwards to Kirkenes. We had to postpone the trip previously due to the pandemic but Laura and team were very helpful to re-schedule and made things happen for us this year. Accommodation options were awesome (each place had its own charm and provided a mix of self-catering to half-board) and their proposal for sight-seeing options were mostly enjoyable. Laura also made herself available during our trip to assist on some queries which we were appreciative of. We encountered very small hiccups which was overshadowed by majority of everything else that went spectacularly well - an overall unforgettable experience in the midnight sun. Thank you very much!

Our trip to Lofoten and Vesteralen was well planned, all flights and hotels worked well. The car (from Sixt) was a bit of a bone of contention, but we managed.

Well organised itinerary and helpful throughout the travel. The app was amazing and made the day very easy to follow. Magnetic North has the best contacts for experiences and well chosen hotels .

Thanks to Magnetic North we had an amazing holiday in Norway, skiing, kayaking, hiking and a wilderness spa. Attention to detail and local knowledge meant we had experiences we would never have had otherwise. Perfect for adults or families. We couldn’t recommend highly enough.

The trip was very well planned. The app well laid out and easily navigable. Lots of helpful information there. Laura was always available to answer questions and advise when we called an audible. She was helpful and responsive all the way through.

Helpful travel agent provided exactly the off-grid holiday I was after. Easy car hire, a variety of luxury and affordable accommodation. Excursions were perfect as a solo traveler. Zero complaints. All excellent. If you’re after a bespoke Nordic holiday, this THE company to speak to.

This destination had been on my radar for some time and it lived up to all expectations. Mind you we were blessed with exceptional good weather. There were simply no negative points. The three hotels chosen were excellent and well situated. Suggested itinery was busy but the holiday never felt rushed. This destination is definitely for those who appreciate wildlife, fantastic scenery and a relaxed way of life. Certainly not for the beach and disco crowd.

They planned a fantastic trip for us to Scandinavia! Each destination was well planned with the perfect balance of pre scheduled activities and free time to explore on our own. The hotels they selected were lovely and the guides in each location great! The timing of our trip was just right. They found the “sweet spot” with warm enough weather, but before the destinations were inundated with cruise ships! They provided us with an app that had our daily schedule with all necessary details so the information was readily available it even included maps of each city/area we visited. They were always available in case of snafus! I would definitely use them to plan another trip to Scandinavia if we are fortunate enough to return to this magnificent area. There is always more to explore!

Where to begin? Our trip was so amazing it’s hard to choose the highlight so I’ll begin at the beginning. We were originally booked to leave March of 2020 and we all know how that went. Laura at Magnetic North kept moving our trip each year til we were finally able to go this year. Every single detail was taken care of and executed flawlessly. We had private drivers multiple times traveling throughout Norway and Finland and they were always there right on time. Each of our accommodations only got better and better from wonderful city locations in Oslo and Helsinki to the remotest spots in Kierkenes and Inari, glass igloos in Levi and culminating in the poshest nests at the Arctic Treehouse in Rovaniemi. We were amazed and delighted each stop from being picked up at the Kierkenes airport by husky taxi and delivered to the Snowhotel after the most peaceful 45 minutes of hearing nothing but the excited yip of the dogs and the sounds of their paws hitting the snow to standing on a frozen lake in Inari watching a 360 degree display of the northern lights to a peaceful reindeer sleigh ride through the woods at night. That’s not to mention all you can eat king crab pulled from the icy fjord, the private snowmobile ride to a frozen lake side fairy tale cottage for hot berry juice and home made pastries. Magnetic North orchestrated a trip of a lifetime that was more than we ever expected, even after anxiously awaiting it for three years. If you want to experience the Arctic Circle like something straight from a movie, book with Magnetic North. I promise, you won’t be sorry.
