Funds held for 540 (!!!) days with no explanation

We used Mamo Pay as a payment solution for our UAE-registered business. Our account was suspended in October 2025 and all funds were frozen without prior notice.

After the initial six-month hold period passed, we requested the release of our funds. Mamo extended the hold to 540 days from the last transaction date, citing "material risk of chargebacks or regulatory exposure" — with no specific evidence, no chargeback claims disclosed, and no documentation provided to justify this decision.

We offered to submit our Emirates NBD and Stripe account statements to demonstrate our business is in good standing. This offer was not engaged with.
When we asked for clarification, Mamo stated they are "not able to disclose the specific risk assessments" behind their decision.

We have now filed formal complaints with Sanadak (CBUAE) under case reference CAS-274162-D8M8J0, and with the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). Legal action is also being pursued.

If you are a business considering Mamo Pay, be aware that your funds can be held for an extended period based on undisclosed internal assessments, with limited recourse available through the platform itself.

they was polite professional and helpful
when even they hold my account i was having trust on them that is due regulatory and I respect and respond to each question with reality..they check out and release the hold .it happens two times in 4 years and they are still my first choice...grown by faith and grown by mamopay thanks for all the team

I had a very disappointing experience...

I had a very disappointing experience with Mamo.

Our business was onboarded successfully after their initial compliance review, and at that time our business model was clearly evaluated and accepted as non-risky. For several months, transactions were processed normally without any major issues.

However, suddenly our account was flagged as “risky” and the services were terminated without providing any clear explanation. What is most concerning is that our funds have been placed on hold for a minimum of six months, with a possibility of extending it up to 540 days. This creates a serious cash flow problem for businesses.

From our records, the chargeback ratio is very low — only three chargebacks in the last three months. In several cases we were not even notified in time about disputes, which prevented us from submitting evidence. Additionally, during their review process the compliance team asked mainly about failed transactions instead of successful ones, which does not accurately represent the actual nature of our business operations.

We operate with other well-known payment processors such as Network and Stripe, where our business has been running smoothly without any risk concerns. Because of this, the decision from Mamo feels inconsistent and lacks transparency.

I strongly believe payment providers should communicate clearly with merchants and give them a fair opportunity to explain transactions before taking such drastic actions.

I hope Mamo improves transparency and support for businesses in the future.

Unprofessional and Terrible Customer Experience

They barely communicated and handling the situation felt completely unprofessional. I’ve used other payment gateways and never had anything like this happen. Dealing with them made running my businesses feel impossible, and honestly, I wouldn’t trust them with a single dirham again.

Exceptional Support and Personalized Risk Management

We recently onboarded SDL Platforms with Mamo, and the experience has been refreshingly professional. Unlike many gateways that rely solely on automated algorithms, the team at Mamo—specifically Khadija—took the time to actually understand our business model and historical data.

The integration became an exhausting ordeal for us!

The integration turned into a deeply frustrating ordeal, with little to no support from the team. Support vanished after full payment was made, as if we no longer mattered. We were left to figure everything out alone, and despite repeated attempts to reach out across multiple platforms, silence stretched on for weeks. Contact only resumed recently, followed by a string of shifting excuses.

Amazing , MamoPay is better than PayPal or Stripe

So far, I am having amazing experience with Mamopay, they offer much better service and payment rates compared to competitors like Stripe and PayPal.

Their support team is top notch and always helpful, I would like to mention Khadija, she is very kind and helpful and she helped out small business onboarded.

One thing that makes MamoPay better is that they offer humanly experience on their platform. There is always a human behind screen to help you navigate

Promising platform weighed down by inconsistent support

The platform itself shows promise and appears designed with modern users in mind, which is why the experience was disappointing overall. When issues came up, support responses were slow and often vague, requiring repeated follow-ups to get basic clarity. Resolution timelines felt unpredictable, making it difficult to rely on the service for time-sensitive needs. While the interface looks polished, reliability matters more than presentation, and that reliability wasn't there when it counted. With more dependable support and clearer communication, This could be a solid product, but as a customer, the experience fell short of what was advertised.

I don’t think there’d be any other customer service much worse than this! Even when your payments were delayed, you still have the right to be respected, not be talked down to and be rude!

It Doesn't Get Any Better

By far the best experience I've had. They make collecting payments and managing my small business extremely easy and with very good rates. Most importantly, they *listen* to their customers. When I provided feedback, their CEO personally reached out and expressed appreciation and within a few days, the improvements on their platform had been made.

Mamo changed the way I run my business

Having previously been with Stripe, I came across Mamo when simply looking for a local payment gateway provider. Having realised it's so much more, I signed up in 2023 never looked back. Mamo has come in clutch so many times for me. Being able to use it like a bank account, when my actual bank account was giving me a hard time. Cash back rewards have been super helpful for my low margin business, customer support has been rad (the two times I needed help) and it just works. My customers haven't had any issues and I've been stoked on every update. 100% recommend you try 'em ✌️
