Disgusting company (Ashford branch) they will do evening to hold on your deposit. All other neighbours (tenants with Martin & co) had the same experience. Some left their homes in a even better condition than rented initially but they still had the deposit holded for ridiculous and unreal reasons.
Avoid by all means if you want to keep your deposit.

Laziest demotivated crew in Oxford. If there was a prize for not doing your job and complaining when someone calls you out for it, these guys win by a landslide. You're better off managing the property solo. A special shout out to the older Emma who is clearly unhappy and takes out her personal stress on tenants (i don't care if you feel unappreciated at work or at home, please be professional and learn how to respond to emails). Also to add, nothing was done at the property and the landlord and tenant had to do everything

They just wanted to take the money from deposit and make lame excuses to keep the deposit money. Be sure to talk to them before leaving their property other will they are gonna keep your deposit or deduct unfortunately charges.

Newport lettings office

Since the take over of the lettings dept by the new mangament the service and overall management carried out on my property dropped dramatically.
There have been a significant number of failures over the past 12 months from failing to inform my tenant of changes / stating they had - then not being able to provide proof through to failing to inspect the property .
Their mistakes have resulted in me having to intervene with my tennant ans take matters into my own hands … further to this their ability to communicate and speak to me as a customer is questionable at the least . After being charged for reports I had not requested and their inability to resolve matters I cancelled my contract which again was incredibly problematic.
I would think carefully on allowing the Newport office to manage a property and have concerns over their compliance and ability to not only resolve matters that arise but also their inability should things require legal assistance etc .

My wife recently sold her late fathers flat in Mansfield and the staff at Martin & Co at the local branch went to great lengths to provide an excellent level of support. In particular, and on top of the excellent personal service they provided, they also helped find local companies to clear and clean the flat at short notice, which made the whole process hassle free. I can't thank them enough!

Terrible (Bognor Branch)
Rented for 1 ½ years and they never helped me once. Despite asking Marlina multiple time inc visiting the office, I was never given a key to communal meter cupboard to get readings. I never knew if I was in credit or debt the whole time. I was even emailed by Marlina to say too busy to get one, please ask a neighbour?
Heating never worked, just a plug in radiator. Mould in bedroom ect.

After leaving they tried to claim most of my deposit with false claims.
End of tenancy report said multiple items missing despite them later admitting they had these in their offices. Locks tampered with, carpet dirty, pet damage & much more. They even took photos at strange angles to make things look worse than they were.
Lucky I took photos start & end of tenancy & The deposit protection ruled in my favour.
I promise you it was in better condition when I left. I even showed the owner round who said he was happy I looked after it.

During a final call to them I asked why they never mentioned anything to me if issues and they said it was company policy to only talk to their clients. I thought I was their client???????

Disgusting behaviour. If you dare use them (especially this branch) Take photos people!!
Ok rant over. I don’t normally moan but all the above & virtually saying I stole items, I had to comment.

So far …… everything has gone smoothly.
Abi Rosser has been very patient and helpful throughout. Can’t recommend her highly enough. Just about to start renting tomorrow so we will see how everything else goes !

Rented for 3 years with Martin & Co Birmingham, got left without a washing machine for 4 weeks because Debbie Kempson ordered the wrong washing machine! No compensation for there wrongdoing broken floorboards caused by contractors as the washing machine didn’t fit, no hot water for nearly a week! The worst company in the world.

On departure they said I would receive my deposit back within 10 days I left on the 25th of April and it’s been nearly a month! I’ve now had to get a solicitor involved to give them a statutory declaration form to get my deposit back as they have stopped responding to my emails!

Martin and Co was managing my tenancy on my rented Home and the staff were really professional and respectful whether face to face or over the phone especially Edward and Hallam Beveridge. Any challenges I faced during my stay, be it Boiler issues or Heating were attended on time. I highly recommend them as I feel they truely define Great public relations and value their tenants. Keep up the good work.

Don't work with Tenants. Just the greedy landlords.

Terrible customer service, increases in rent year-by-year with no maintenence on property. I've been asked several times for inspections, only to never have the employee turn up and so utterly waste my time.

Dodgy plumbers left me with no water heating all winter. They lied and harassed me into leaving for trying to get it fixed.

I spent over a month trying to get somebody decent to fix the water but they kept sending the same ones. Then I asked the council for help. Next day they started a no fault eviction (it's illegal to evict over repairs). They said the landlord was selling which was a lie.

After 2 months they came and said I should have left which is a lie. They got a guy they said was the landlord (who had a different name) to lie and threaten me about the eviction.

I'd been dealing with lying scumbags in a flat with no hot water for 5 months by this point so I gave up and left. They put the property up for let (for more money, when it didn't have hot water) before I moved out.

I asked for a manager but nobody helped. (There are no managers, but everybody has the word manager in their job title).

The council wrote to the "operations manager" for help but he ignored them. The "property manager" lied to them. The "assistant manager" hid out of view when the "property manager" came to harass me into leaving.

It's an independent agent with offices in Blackpool, Lancaster and St Annes. Martin & Co is just a branding thing for the independent agents to hide behind, so "Martin & Co" won't help either.

I wouldn't recommend anybody go near anything connected with this company or these people. I can't put into words the hell they will subject you to if you have an problem.

As soon as you have a problem, speak to citizens advice and try to get legal help. Record everything in case you need it in court.

We were very happy with the response and understanding of the property lettings manager Brittany. She was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and very professional. Very impressed with our end of tenancy checking out and her communication skills are exceptional.

Very poor. They seem rather incompetent and give very poor advice

I have already sent an email of complaint to the Folkestone Branch at the rudeness encountered when making a general enquiry. It would have been nice to have received an apology.

I am self-employed. My husband employed and we have a guarantor. But a very "nice" lady on the phone said that since I have been working for less than 1 year, my income will not be taken into account and the presence the guarantor does not change the situation in any way! So we could rent from them (or anyone from Rightmove) only on husband's salary which is enough only for properties not more then £900!!!
Obviously that adviser is not competent and left me with no hope when it was a lie!

I have dealt with Jo Cable from the Colchester branch who has gone above and beyond help me meet my property needs. She has been efficient and helped me arrange everything that needed to be done. I will not hesitate to use Martin & Co again in the future.

Trying to register with Folkestone Branch, spoken to Rachel with the intend of looking for a property to rent, she was totally unhelpfull on the phone and definitely rude: I have never been spoken like this before, and definetly not from a custmore advicer. She was not interested in take any business for the company. Totally an awful experience. Please avoid them.

i just got the keys yesterday am so happy for nadeem. who helped me sale of this.house very kind and. humble person. am so sad he lift martin co state agents. we need people like nedeem. moor in offices. will be missed.
