Masters Of Mystery Reviews

Our experience with Masters of Mystery could not have been better. We played "High Noon at the Deadman Saloon" and everything from the instructions, to the characters, to the suggested awards were so fun and helpful. The game play was super seamless, and even though I was hosting the game I was also able to play! I would recommend Masters of Mystery to anyone looking to host a murder mystery. Thank you!

Really disappointed with the game, you can’t have influence on the outcome and just have to follow the rounds while reading the predetermined lines. Do not recommend this at all.

The game was really funny and I really like the idea, that it can bei played many times. However, in our Case I think that the motive for the murderer was a tiny bit weak compared to other roles.

If you’re looking for a way to turn a regular party into the most talked about party of the year, Masters of Mystery is the perfect solution. It couldn’t have been easier to purchase and execute the game. (And honestly such an affordable way to elevate an ordinary night.) The game kit includes “evidence” and character guides to help each of your guests get into their role and stick to the script. Some of my guests wished that the character guide gave more guidance for their costume, but others appreciated the liberty of the looser guidelines. Really looking forward to playing more of these games!

I appreciated how I could preview important aspects of the game, including character descriptions before making my purchase. Once I purchased my game, it was very easy to download the zip file for use on game night. The format of the game had my guests, many of which had never played a murder mystery and/or were introverts, mix and mingle without any awkwardness. Even people who do not like acting or being put on the spot really enjoyed this game and found it approachable. The instructions were very clear and game play went off without a hitch!

We had a Mystery Dinner party for my daughter’s 18th birthday. She chose the Murder at Moorborne Manor- Sherlock Holmes inspired. The kit comes with everything you need for the party. You do have to print it all off and I was thankful to have access to a commercial printer, but that was because we bought the expansion pack for 20 characters. The kit came with theme invitations to send out digital or hard copy, food ideas, decoration ideas, and the scripts and directions were really easy to follow. What made the party a hit were all of the guests who came dressed in character and ready for some fun! The party and dinner was around 2.5 hr. My husband was the host and detective, as conversations slowed he kept the story moving. We did have a variety of ages 13-60+ at the party and the kit content and script was clean language and family friendly. Of course there was some drama and plot twists, but those made the storyline interesting. My daughter said this was the best birthday. If you’ve been thinking about trying it you should! Also, take time to go over the host and detective information ahead of time, it makes for a smoother game.

Fun characters, good directions, easy to move in each round—all characters got to participate as if they were a main character

We played the wild West crime

The Charakter of each Player are very fun and interesting.

We played it for 3 times and it was every time very funny.

The murde change every time what makes the game different from the last one we played.

We absolutely recommend it

I found purchasing the pack very straight forward, everything was extremely well explained and I was even able to share information to my friends before purchase as website was so fan! The downloadable documents were well organised and the process was very straightforward.
It was such a bonus that everyone could begin on the game as well as host.
The character sheets were very well done! Everyone got into character and the scripts were easy to follow.
Getting dressed up, the ideas for costumes and food were a brilliant help.
A evening to remember!

They offer great options and value for money. Made it possible to have an awesome birthday dinner with loads and loads of laughs. My only suggestion is to provide the pdf's in colour - that way people have the option to print greyscale if they don't want colour.

This online game was a brilliant option for a children’s birthday party. My 12 year old daughter and 15 friends loved getting into character and really got involved. If you’re prepared to host, do a fair bit of preparation and printing out of all
the character roles then this works out to be a very different, fun and economical party option. Thank you!

We played the 1920s Murder Mystery Game with Italian friends for my wife's 50th birthday. It was a lot of fun – everyone had a blast! Too bad the game is not available in Italian language because translating the character guide for 12 people was a lot of work. But it was worth it!

Wild West was a blast, we had a group of 9 & we all enjoyed dressing up. The playlist & dinner suggestions made hosting so easy! And really enjoyed playing as the host! Cant wait for the next party!

We purchased the 1920s/Gatsby- themed game “Jazz, Gin, Money-and Murder” set for a shared birthday party for my two teenagers (age 14/16) and 11 of their closets friends! (1-14 participants pack). We decided to omit one character due to being a “drug addict”, but the other 13 characters were appropriate for teenage participants.

I felt that the price was very affordable—especially for something SO well done & complete. The materials were very well done, directions clear and easy to follow for all parts (host guide, Detective script, and all of the roles). It did take about a full cartridge of ink & ream of paper to print out all of the materials—But was well worth it. All of the kids were able to follow along and understood what to do in each round—once we got through the 2nd round, I couid get them started then leave during the round to refresh food, mix up more drinks, cut the birthday cake, etc while the kids went through the round on their own. The suggestions for timing were entirely accurate for pacing the game, and I set a timer for each round to stay on track. We got started about a half hour late due to some later arrivals, but that was not the game’s fault! With 13 participants, using the pacing suggested the game itself was true to the expected 2 hours. We usually had about 5 minutes at the end of each round where we couid have moved in to the next round, but we have kids breaks to get some food/drinks and interact. They ALL stayed in character the WHOLE time!

Doing “cold” reading “in character” was a bit challenging for a few of the younger participants—but to be fair, the game suggested 16+, and it honestly wasn’t a huge issue. All of our guests were strong readers, just a few of the younger participants (age 13) had a harder time pulling off their “full” character into a first-time read-through.

We printed out 4 copies of each piece of evidence so the 13 kids could share them in small groups. Thus seemed to work well, and encouraged discussion. I loved that we were given the option of using a script to supply our own detective, use an animated video, or use audio files. We had a “real” detective, but if I was throwing a party where I didn’t have extra help or a dramatic friend willing to take on that role, it was very nice to know the recording was an option!

I had some issues initially with downloading a few of the videos (all of the documents downloaded just fine, and I think this was an issue with my computer, not the links provided) and used up my allocated 10 “downloads” on failed attempts for a few videos. I emailed Masters of Mystery and explained what happened. They responded promptly and reset the download links so I could try again. They all worked on my second attempt. I really appreciate how quickly they responded because I only had 2 weeks between purchasing the game & throwing the party!

The party was a “Roaring” success! The game gave helpful suggestions for setting up the ambiance, gave explicit costume/accessory suggestions given to each character so participants could plan effective costumes to go with their character (or we could be sure to help find/supply them with these accessories in case they didn’t already own them—such as a letterman's jacket & violin case). These accessories really helped the kids get into character.

I have to admit, I was nervous that the kids would be too awkward and shy to really pull off their characters—especially since I was mixing two different distinct friend groups of different ages,—but I believe the excitement of the game concept itself, the excellent suggestions for costumes, providing mood-setting decor, food, music, and authentic 1920s “mocktails), and having extra accessories available in case anyone showed up without them (we supplied feather headbands, pearl necklaces, favors hats, fake mustaches, mini notebooks & a pen for taking notes) really helped them channel their inner flappers!

I LOVE that the game can be played again and again with different outcomes. We kept all game materials & accessories that the participants did not take with them and FULLY intend to play the game again several times with our adult friend & office groups!

If you are looking for a very well done, complete, easy to follow and pull off, fun, versatile & reusable 1920s themed murder mystery game, then I STRONGLY recommend the “Masters of Mystery: Jazz, Gin, Money—and Murder”. We did invest money in the food, extra accessories & decor, but the whole party still cost less than taking 13 kids to a destination party such as an entertainment park or escape room experience. And it was well worth it. Best of all, we already have most of the materials needed for the NEXT time we play!! We are already looking at different theme options & planning to purchase another game kit for next year’s birthday party!

We ordered the Eurovision murder mystery and it did not disappoint. The package was easy to use, entertaining, and so much fun. Our group had 19 people in it, with a wide range of comfort levels. Everyone quickly discovered that with this package, you can simply follow the script, with or without a little improv. That put everyone at ease. The performers performed, and the reserved participants were at ease, simply following the script. No matter the comfort level, everyone had a blast. The best part is that we can play it again and again with different results. Will buy more packages from these guys. Well worth it.

The pack is perfect, has everything you’d need for a great game! Perfect for any occasion

We hosted my daughter’s 11th birthday with Kid’s Mystery at the Museum, and it was an absolute hit. The kids fully committed showing up in character from Edward Teach to Amelia Earhart (and yes, they understood the assignment 😂).

The storyline was engaging, the clues were just the right level of challenging, and most of them stayed involved from beginning to end. It was the perfect mix of hilarious, interactive, and genuinely entertaining. Watching them work together to solve the mystery was such a highlight.

If you’re looking for a birthday experience that’s unique, memorable, and keeps kids completely engaged, this is it. Highly recommend!

The Masters of Mystery murder mystery game is fantastic. It is complete, well organized, and easy to use. There’s no doubt that it requires a bit more organization from the host to make the experience feel realistic, but that’s the case with all games. The instructions are clear, and there is a wide variety of games to choose from. I highly recommend this company!

It made for an amazing experience for my long distance relationship. It was really easy for us to access it was truly a mystery and kept us on our toes the whole game it was lovely
