Modern Musician has the systems and the people who teach them well. I have not found a better way to work on my Music Project. Everything you need to run your music business is covered. When I first started working with them, it was not complete but they kept adding elements and improving the quality, and when I was able to move my website over there I knew they had pulled it off.
Jared Christianson is a rising marketing star and helped me navigate the FB Ads and ad strategy angles, as well as gave me great advice when I started my radio show/podcast. I advise you to get on a session with him!

So when I first discovered Modern Musician, I had all but given up on my musical "career" and getting my music out into the world. The Modern Musician program (and promise) sounded too good to be true. Find fans for your music. Build a community that loves your work. Monetize your audience over time. Repeat. But it works! This was the most intense music marketing and music business program I've ever participated in. But it was worth everything I've invested so far. I can't express how impressed I am with the structure of the program and the quality of the courseware. The tools and systems available to us are sophisticated and "modern." And the results so far have exceeded my expectations. But I believe the secret sauce of Modern Musician is the people, their corporate culture, and the global music community they've created. The leadership team is amazing. The individual coaches I've worked with are superb. Everyone is truly knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and passionate. The people are positive, encouraging, and motivating. The other benefit of Modern Musician is being part of a bigger community of musicians from all over the world who are going through (or who have already graduated) the Modern Musician program. Meeting and learning from everyone is part of the fun and joy. It doesn't matter how old you are, what kind of music you create, what you look like, or how cynical you might be about the "music industry" or the "business of music." If you put your heart, soul (and mind) into the work that this team of people has mapped out for you, you will advance your music career ambitions to any level you desire. Guaranteed. I started at zero. After 7 months, I'm seeing huge progress and momentum. I've acquired fans, started engaging with them, and am moving toward early monetization. I highly recommend Modern Musician for any musician who is serious about advancing their career and seeking success in the challenging (and often times disappointing) music industry. Finally, I want to say that this review was written by a real person, not an AI bot! I can personally attest to the fact that Modern Musician is the real deal. They rock.

I went to the masterclass. I learn nothing and did not get the freebie that was promised in the beginning of the call. It was stated in the beginning that "this is not like those other masterclasses or webinars", literally stating that they're "not here to do commercial". This was the only thing this masterclass consisted of. It also took this dude 3 HOURS. The dummest thing I've spent that much time on in years.

I am a rising artist and started the Gold Master mind course not knowing what to expect. Not even knowing if it was a legitimate learning opportunity or not. After finishing the course, I have been able to successfully grow my fan base significantly. But the benefits received by this experience doesn’t stop there. I have active fan engagement, learned how to correctly set up social media ads, monetize music, my music streaming is even increasing. And that’s just the start!!

The process was eye-opening. I have led many organizations primarily from an operational capacity. This program made me step outside of that context and create a customer centric process, clearly laid out for me to understand. The people and the culture are outstanding. Everyone is committed to helping and seeing musicians succeed. I love being a part of a community that truly values the success of the client. Every musician in the program offers ideas and suggestions that have been gained via experience. Everyone helps everyone, because each of us have unique fans. It is truly an inspiring program that directs the musician to a servant leadership approach. I love this approach as well as this strong, caring, and committed community of musicians.

Modern Musician sells a tactical strategy that can be very effective for certain kinds of personalities and musicians. If your audience is one that expects and buys merch, that’s great. And if the direct appeal works for your audience and you, even better. For a solo female artist this approach was not for me…The customer service is attentive enough but also not too good — they want to drive you to the pricier “gold” level.
I found customer service to be very friendly and supportive. But the software while having lofty aims does not deliver. There are better CRM programs and way better email programs — I just didn’t have enough experience and didn’t do research, so believed their statistics and pricing comparisons. The social media integrations are not as functional as others and for a small band pretty unnecessary.
I learned a lot from this business, most of it being how to sell because they did such a great job of it. I truly got a lot of value just seeing how they operated. I have since moved to an email service with a way better delivery rate (that I never would have sought out of this hadn't been such a failure!) and changed my strategy altogether. I’ll let you know if I end up finding the master strategy but I think it’s a better course of action.
I’m writing this to provide someone else with a little more color on the MM experience from someone who was really invested and implementing for 3+ months — I’m happy for those who have had this approach and community work for them and their music but it was not something that worked for me despite best efforts.

I learned so much in my past several months at Modern Musician. Getting to know StreetTeam in detail has been rewarding; but moreover, learning the marketing concepts that drive the machinery has been invaluable: and will continue to help be develop and grow the business-side of my music. It's been rewarding to create my Starter-Pack merchandise, and to see some of the start to move. Once I have a new logo to move with, I will be upping my physical offers, which I am excited about too!

Although I still have some funnel steps (especially those high-ticket offers) to complete and build-out, I feel confident in the knowledge of how to do this, from design to implementation to testing and tweaking.

Beyond the technical side of building-out the StreetTeam systems, I gained a lot from the concepts that really drive everything: daily habits and routines; goal setting and tracking; relationship building with our fans.

Re-warming my old email list was also rewarding. Creating robust welcome and nurture email sequences has fostered great points of connection, with new and old fans/friends alike.

As stated in some of the final trainings, I feel like things are not ending, but indeed just getting started! A big part of my goal to join MM when I did was to have these systems up and running before I release music (with my premiere dropping tomorrow, 8/11/2023!), so I wouldn't have to figure all of this out during or after release. I feel like I am both ready to grow and expand—and well in-place to reach followers, current StreetTeam members, and new fans alike. Thank You Modern Musician!!!

This program was awesome! It is laid out to make everything very simple and the instructors all know the system like the back of their hand. Everything the said would happen has happened.

Really love this team. My husband and I have been running successful campaigns for building our fans and we have gone from 300 fan group members when we started to almost 2,000 in 12 months. These are real people who chose to join our private FB group as a result of what MM taught us. We get orders for our merch and connect with them weekly.

Taking the Gold Artist Program at Modern Musician was a big step in my music career. I learned a lot of valuable things that helped me improve my habits and outlook on my music career, and I had a lot of breakthroughs that changed my thinking and approach around monetization, merch, email list building, and more.

The best part of the program was getting to know other musicians and to have a really practical, inside view of what they're doing—the nuts and bolds of how an ad performed, how much they spent on shipping merch, how they figured out how to monetize their livestream, etc.

One thing that holds me back from giving a 5-star review is the fact that, after following the coursework and really putting in the work, I'm operating at a STEEP loss which does not make my current setup viable in any way for me. Some of the business systems that have proven profitable for members of the Modern Musician team haven't worked as well for me—for example, the ad system that seemed to work well for others are insanely expensive for me to run, and shipping costs from Canada erase the profit margins on physical goods. I've spent a large portion of my time re-engineering the systems that were said to work when I joined the program. Becoming monetized and profitable was the main reason I joined, and that was a huge selling aspect of the course, so truthfully I am a little let down that I'm not seeing any returns.

So, in the end, I'm going to get a result that works for me, but it's only because I'm willing to really put in the work and redesign it all, based partially on concepts I learned in the course.

Overall, this is a fantastic group of people. It's a lot of work to implement the coursework, but if you do, you'll end up with a more organized system for running your business, connecting with fans, positioning your merch, and other aspects of being an indie musician!

The Modern Musician Artistry Gold program exceeded my expectations!

I’ve spent a LOT of money (more than 6 figures) on high end coaching programs. Michael Walker’s program along with his coaching staff are among the most competent I’ve dealt with.

The program is laid out concisely, and there’s no “fluff”. Every module is relevant and laid out logically.

Each coach is highly skilled in his or her lane of expertise, and they literally hold your hand, step by step, getting everything up and running.

I enjoyed the program so much, I’ve now enrolled in their next tier program. In fact, I was asking if they had one even before they offered it to me.

If you are SERIOUS about invested into your music career, Modern Musician will teach you how to BE your own label in these times.

It will cost you time and money, so don’t come here writing negative reviews if you aren’t willing to do your part. Much of this program is “do it for you”; but some of it IS “do it yourself”, with coaching of course.

If you are among the serious ones out there, and you are ready to focus, THIS is your program!
