I went to the Wilmington, MA M&T branch on 5/1/26 around 3pm. I tried to withdraw $100 from the ATM with the hope of using that money to open an account with M&T. The money didn’t come out of the atm but it appeared withdrawn on my online account for my current bank. I went into the branch to report this happened. A nice gentleman tried to help me. One of the tellers, an Asian lady, was extremely rude & lacked compassion. She told me there was nothing she could do & to file a claim with my bank. I am so upset because although $100 may not seem like a lot, it was for me. To be dismissed in such a heartless way is the reason I will now or ever open an account with M&T. I have started to tell my friends & family of my experience & I will share this experience with as many people as possible because no one deserves to be treated in such a way that makes you cry.

Please 🙏 do yourself a favor and RUN from this bank, customer service is unprofessional and emotional, they hang up on you, they're rude and trying to pay your mortgage to them is like pulling teeth, they say they took the payment then you get zero notification the payment never posted then all of a sudden you're late and they ruin your credit score , They blame everyone else but themselves. They are a total NIGHTMARE, M & T banks hires trash people with zero professionalism & communication skills. RUN! Save your sanity!
Unacceptably Horrible Customer Service
Horrible customer service and communication. I lost my credit card on April 4th and was told a new one would be sent in 7-10 business days. On day 11, I still had not received my card and was told by phone representative to try going into a local branch for assistance. So I did and they saw no records of a new one ordered so I requested expedited next-day service which they claimed they put in. We'll 5 days later still no card. Went into the app to request a new card because the humans weren't doing a good job. I did get an alert that a new card was sent, but none has arrived yet. A credit card is pretty vital to a person's existence in today's world. This is unacceptable. The worst part is that they do not provide a tracking number to the customer so that we can see where it is in the shipping world. Not a professional way of doing business

This review is specifically for the M&T Bank app. The most frustrating thing about the app is that you are not able to set up automatic recurring payments. Additionally, even though I’ve set up face recognition, logged in using my username, password AND 2step authentication, I ALSO have to call and have them unblock my account so I can PAY them. What kind of bank doesn’t want their money repaid to them??! What kind of bank doesn’t have an autopay feature in the 21st century? Yes! Correct! Ding! Ding! Ding! M&T Bank!

Camping World gave my loan to M and T bank last August. They’re HORRIBLE! They won’t allow me to pay extra on the principal unless I mail in a check. They lied to me and said anything I paid over the normal payment would be applied to the principal but it all went to interest. I got conflicting answers every time I called. They are thieves and they should not be in business. DO NOT USE THIS BANK. They will STEAL your hard earned money.

Estoy en PR hace pal de meses cuidando de mi papá le envié dinero a mi hija desde acá obvio me envían mensaje de fraude y me comunico rápido para dejarles saber que era yo la persona que me atendió al igual que la traductora muy amables me ayudaron que quede sumamente satisfecha porque hasta que no se envió el dinero la representante del departamento de fraude se quedó conmigo en el teléfono. Excelente servicio por eso le doy 5 estrellas las pocas situaciones que tengo con ellos siempre me resuelven al 100 no me arrepiento de abrir mi cuenta con ustedes. This bank is an embarrassment
This bank is an embarrassment. I had a fraudulent charge on my credit card at a Walmart in Mexico for $690.93. I was told to cancel my card, which I did, and my account would be credited in 2 hrs. That didn’t happen. Called back after being on hold for over 20 min. & told it would be credited that evening. That didn’t happen. Called the following day on hold for over 30 min. & told it would be 10 days after an investigation. I told them it was unacceptable & would like to speak to the supervisor & asked for the name of the head of the fraud dept. then was hung up on. Called Walmart fraud dept. several times to try & find out what items were purchased to see if they were placed for sale on social media & whether M & T Bank contacted them & they, expectedly, would not release any information. Called the bank once again to find out the status of my “alleged” dispute, once again, to no avail. Please do your due diligence when choosing a bank. M & T Bank should not be on your list.
Customer Service Disappointment
First, there's a nasty auto message when calling M&T, a message that says, "We're trying to collect a debt." Then, the rep failed to do a little more research and get the pay off information I requested.

this evil company sends out notice of missed payment *backdated* but so late that it arrives1 day prior to the last day the fees can be paid before late fees would apply. In other words: this company is actively engaging in late notice and deceit in an effort and effect that encourages the accrual of late payment and associated fees.
DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK IF YOU CAN HELP IT.

I have been trying to setup my online account without success for the past 4 months. When trying to setup my online banking ID they do not allow emails that end in ".co" It looks like their technology is behind with not allowing emails ending in .co. Very surprised that an established bank has not caught up to current email account ending. Very disappointed.

People go somewhere else . Unfortunately I was given this bank from a RV loan with Camping World.
Have had nothing but problems with online services.
I will be paying this note off immediately as I dont want them to make any money on my loan. Again go elsewhere for banking services!!!!
Absolute worse bank Ive ever dealt…
Absolute worse bank Ive ever dealt with. Online it tells you extra payments go to principal so I made 2 extras and instead they applied it to my next 2 months of payments telling me I dont have a payment due until June. They are refusing to apply it correctly even though my contract and online it informs you anything extra will go to principal. I made extras not to get ahead on payments but to reduce principal saving me money in the end. If I make my usual what should have been May payment today they will apply it to July.

Their payment system is lacking. I tried three times to pay through their website and it looked like it took but then came a late fee. They snail mail the notice to ensure you are not aware of the issue until it is to late to pay prior to the late fee.

My 85 year old bedridden grandmothers account located in Laurel Delaware was frozen because she would write me Checks for medication, groceries, and many things to keep up on the property. The cause of this was reported from the bank as being suspicious. So they froze her account repeatedly for three months and lo and behold electric shutoff she’s on oxygen, direct tv shut off, gas bill three months behind they took the tank!!! All because she was allowing me her grandson to cash checks she wrote personally wrote to me!!! The employees behind the desk were very disrespectful made my grandmother feel as though she was the victim and never gonna get her money from them and the bank made her out to be the victim of a crime that never was committed!!!! I will never use this bank ever again!! So sad that my grandmother had to experience such rude and cruel bank employees
