Disappointing customer service – MyConstructor declined to assist with my complaint

I have used MyConstructor for approximately two years and have spent around £700 on services arranged through its platform. I trusted MyConstructor to connect me with reliable professionals, but the way it handled my recent complaint has significantly undermined that trust.

I experienced a problem with work carried out by an engineer arranged through the platform. When the issue was not resolved satisfactorily, I had to arrange for a second engineer to attend and carry out corrective work. The second engineer resolved the problem, and I have an invoice confirming the work completed.

When I contacted MyConstructor to request a refund, the company declined, stating that the engineer was responsible for resolving the matter and directing me to report it to Gas Safe.

I recognise that the engineer may be responsible for the quality of the work. However, MyConstructor did not provide meaningful support, did not appear to engage fully with the evidence I supplied and directed me elsewhere rather than helping to address the complaint. As a platform that connects customers with service providers, I expected it to take a more active role in reviewing the issue and supporting me through the complaints process.

After two years of using the platform and spending approximately £700, this response has been particularly disappointing. Customer service and accountability are especially important when problems arise, and MyConstructor’s handling of this matter has significantly reduced my confidence in the platform.

I hope MyConstructor reviews its approach to complaints and provides a fair resolution. Based on my experience, I recommend that other customers retain all invoices, communications and evidence of any corrective work, and consider in advance what level of support they can expect if a service arranged through the platform does not meet expectations.
