We do supply mileage readings if available but I'm sure that you can understand that mileage readings on every vehicle cannot be guaranteed by any company, as full mileage coverage for every single vehicle in the country is virtually impossible.

MyVehicle.ie currently have a mileage database of over 10 million mileage readings on over 1.2 million unique Irish vehicle registration numbers and over 100 million UK readings but in this instance, the registration number in question is one of those numbers which is not in our database

The previously asked questions section of the website points out that there is a possibility that no mileage readings will be recorded for a particular vehicle.

MyVehicle.ie seeks to provide our customers with the best service possible and as part of that service, we look to obtain as many mileage readings as we can but as our terms and conditions state, the company does not hold nor does it warrant that it does hold a database of odometer readings for all vehicles and accordingly it will only be able to provide a report in relation to an odometer reading for a particular vehicle if that vehicle’s odometer reading is already on the company's database.

The National Car Test (NCT) Service, nor the Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Testing (CVRT) centres do not share their data with any third party company due to what they deem to be “Data Protection” concerns.

MyVehicle.ie are continuously lobbying for this mileage data to be released to third party companies like ourselves in our to protect consumers against “clocking”, which is on the increase in Ireland.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you feel that way but we have absolutely no control over the data that is available and digitised against any vehicle. As you may appreciate, we do not create the record, but compile reports based on pre-existing data which is from all across the automotive industry. Our data is used by the entire industry, including hundreds of dealerships, most insurers, banks, finance houses, government agencies and almost all vehicle assessors in the country. If an extremely old vehicle is lacking certain kinds of data, this is not a fault of the vehicle history check and most of our customers and clients recognise this fact and that it is virtually impossible to have every kind of data that could be possible for a vehicle and this is most certainly true of mileage and MOT data in particular. Please note that if the MOT, who is in a totally different jurisdiction, has not provided data for this particular vehicle, it is impossible for us to have this and provide it. The UK VRM in question, A125YHR is not found in the MOT system and so we cannot be any more clear that the information you require has not been made available by this agency and so we cannot make it appear on a check if they have not recorded MOT details. With regard to expectations, you stated that "Myvehicle clearly stated all mot history and nct would be in the report". We must say that nowhere on our trade and public websites do we guarantee or promise these details. We can only check databases for such information but no history check provider in the world guarantees this kind of data. We are positive that you can understand that there are certain things that are beyond our control. On a positive note, you have two additional checks remaining with promo codes that have no expiry date and hopefully if and when you choose to use these, you will understand fully why the vast majority of automotive-related businesses choose us as their preferred data source. We hope this has answered your question.

Hello Carolyne!

We would strongly recommend that you contact the source of this insurance data and insist on them providing you with details regarding this alert, such as Insurance company name, date of incident, category write off, as we have had many many cases, where insurance alerts turn out to be an error and subsequently removed. Other, turn out to be minor damage repair and not subject to a write off.

MyVehicle can only provide data that comes from official sources and data that can be fully supported and backed up when queried.

You mentioned CATEGORY S, which in Ireland Does NOT exist and is not used by any Irish insurer.
In the UK they have in recent years started using category S for Structural Damage, but your vehicle was never registered in the UK.

Again, another reason to raise the query in relation to the insurance alert.

We can also see that this vehicle is still registered to a garage and not in your name. We would recommend that you contact the dealership to discuss this matter in greater detail.
Alternatively, we would always recommend getting an engineer pre purchase / post damage inspection, which we can certainly arrange for you.

Hello James and thank you for taking the time to review, although, we feel that this is actually not only an unfair comment but incorrect. There are absolutely no hidden costs in a vehicle history check and so we are not sure what you mean by this? If you are referring to a prompt to run a finance check on the vehicle, this is not in any way a 'hidden cost', in fact purchasing a vehicle that is under finance could land the purchaser of that vehicle with huge costs. You purchased a UK Car History Check and not a full check. Also, we do not create the record but can only compile reports based on the data that is made available for any given vehicle. In this case, a report can only be based on data available in another jurisdiction (GB). The information provided is certainly not 'very poor' as you contend and is comparable to any other history check supplier. We know this as our parent company provides the same data to the entire automotive industry, including, all insurers, motor assessors and major banks. We are sorry to hear that your personal perception of the report didn't match your expectation and we have no control over this. We can only provide you with what is available for this vehicle from official and authorised sources in Great Britain, and we cannot embellish the data as the vast majority of our customers and clients can appreciate.
