I purchased the NASM CPT course. Navigating the course was easy, but I felt like there was a quite a bit of info that was beyond what a trainer needs to know. Trying to read and memorize or understand hundreds of pages of info is no small feat. I wish some of that information was swapped out for more real life instruction on things like working directly with clients, coaching form, choosing specific exercises, etc. I was very surprised that wasn’t hit harder in the course. Knowing the way I study and learn, I bought the book as well as a study app to prepare, so I think the study materials could be a bit better. But overall it was worth it and I’m glad I went through NASM.

The overall experience was excellent. The website is easy to navigate and sign up for courses. The CPT course was extremely thorough and was great for all types of learners. The chapters were very dense but the videos were extremely helpful to review and see the information. The quizzes exposed you from the get go to what the types of questions would be like on the exam. When studying, I found the chapter notes and practice exams to be very helpful to prepare. Taking the exam online was a good experience and not to hard to navigate. Overall I would recommend this certification for anyone in PT. It is extremely thorough and prepares you well for being in the field.

I really enjoyed the comprehensive, complete, and evidence based material in the NASM CPT course. I feel like I now have a well rounded understanding of all of the elements of being a personal trainer. I liked the ability to contact NASM for help.

self paced is ok, but frankly it's not the best type of learning. I'm happy I passed on my first try and i was able to learn the material, but learning hands on while you learn is much more beneficial.

Earning my NASM certification was a great experience. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to take the next step in my fitness career!

I could go at my own pace. Scheduling was easy.
I did end up using an extra paid for app, Pocket Prep, to help study for the exam. The questions on pocket prep were more in depth than on practice exams provided by NASM.

I have come to learn about workout movements, and I have learned more than that. I understand the science behind the science of human movement system, metabolism. The training is tough and the certification is well-prepared. I am proud to succeed at it and now I am ready to start this new career.

The material is thorough and engaging. There are resources through the NASM portal to learn each course. The exam is has an increased level of difficulty when compared to all of the practice materials (chapter quizzes, sections quizzes and practice exams), but consistently studying the material does prove that you will be prepared for the final exam!

The test was really easy to get set up and customer support was nice.

I truly loved all the studying material, it makes really easy to learn and to study at my own pase.

I purchased a full package from NASM and upon completing the CPT course signed up for a proctored exam. I completed the CPR/AED course as the prerequisite, but on the day of the exam, I had difficulty accessing my certificate and the proctor closed my session before I got to it. When I spoke to the NASM rep, she told me she would extend my window two weeks with no additional cost; however, the next morning when I attempted to reschedule, the option was not there to reschedule and when I spoke to NASM, a different rep told me I had to pay $35 for the reschedule of my exam. I told him in detail about what the prior rep had told me and he said her notes did not reflect what I was saying. I asked him then why did my original expiration date change from December of this year to September 14th, 2026, if not because she had given me the 2 week extension. He said he did not know and would still need to collect the fee. When I asked to speak to a manager, he said that was not something he could do. This is not about the $35, but about the principle of it all. When you pay upfront $1,800 to purchase a full complement of courses and then have a rep make a commitment that isn’t followed through on it is just bad business. I paid the fee and rescheduled and passed my exam and will complete the additional courses, but this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding NASM.

The CPT information is presented in ways that can be confusing. I had to watch Axiom videos & even take an Axiom 2 week course in order to understand the NASM cpt information better. I did other research on my own in many of the confusing & hard to understand areas of your program. I felt for the price & amount of material it should be presented better.

Online study materials were great. I don’t know if I missed the directions for the online proctored test prep, but that was a bit of stress right before taking the test. Perhaps an email that’s very specific about setting up the proctor browser a few days before testing.

Lena was a great help to answer all my questions when I had them, additionally she was super excited and supportive of my goals and really wanted to make sure she built the correct program for me, and that everything fit in my budget. I’m on course right now to be personal trainer certified as well as finishing courses on nutrition and correctional exercise thanks to her!
