Melissa Janke was great!

Melissa Janke helped mutual clients of ours purchase their first home. She was great to work with! Very responsive and got the loan closed over 2 weeks early which is unheard of. I would recommend her and can't wait to work with her again!

Sierra Wheeler and her team are the GOAT!!!

Sierra Wheeler and her team were amazing. Anytime I had a question there was a reply within 15 minutes. They walked me through every step (this was my first home purchase). When it closed and Sierra called me to tell me you could hear the genuine happiness in her voice. It was not just a job for her. I had tried to buy a home a year earlier with a different lender, but it fell through. I was in a better position this time; however the experience was so much more enjoyable with Sierra and her team/Neighbors Bank. If you are looking to purchase a home do yourself a favor and look them up......you will thank yourself when the loan closes!!!

Everyone was amazing...made the process easy!

Everyone at Neighbors Bank that we worked with for our mortgage made the process easy and were so amazing. Jessica Jamison is incredibly knowledgeable, anticipating where issues may come up and offering options. As she got to know our situation better, she also gave us additional information that will be helpful in the future. Our Loan Coordinator Kara Muenks kept us on track with needed documentation, and while she was out Nina Eaker stepped in. The whole process was seamless and stress free thanks to all of them. Everyone was quick to answer any questions or concerns we had and are are all very friendly and professional. We appreciate all of their work and how smooth they made the home buying/mortgage process. Would absolutely recommend Neighbors Bank, and especially these ladies!

Jennifer Katrina Brown was my savior

Jennifer Katrina Brown was my savior. I cannot speak to how far she went far and beyond her normal. We have had long history because of the 1st house that went for 267 days and did not close due to title issues. Once that happened she bent over backwards to help expedite and work with me in working up a second home process effortlessly. If there was some type of award or major congrats it should be given to her for being the absolute consumer advocate. Again, speechless for words to praise on her.

Avoid this lender at all costs

If you are a Realtor working with a pre-approval from this company, do yourself and your clients a favor, find another lender.

We were assigned this lender through Veterans United Home Loans, a company we no longer work with due to misaligned values and concerns about their lending practices. Our loan originator, Heather Yackley, was initially responsive and helpful, providing home-specific pre-approvals. However, once we had an accepted offer, communication fell apart.

The first issue was the loan commitment, which required repeated follow-ups just to receive on the day of the deadline. Fortunately, the listing agent granted an extension. From there, things appeared to move forward and FHA repairs were addressed. Then, less than 48 hours before closing, I was notified by the title company that closing was canceled, with zero prior communication from the lender.

After reaching out, we were told my client lacked sufficient funds to close. This was surprising, as she had been quoted for weeks around $2,700 cash to close. Less than two days before closing, new “reserve” requirements were introduced. Anyone in lending knows large last-minute fund changes can cause major issues.

To make matters worse, the loan coordinator, Brittany Christian, gave my client conflicting instructions on how to move funds, creating unnecessary confusion. My client was ready to resolve the issue through acceptable means, but this should have been addressed well in advance.

What followed was a consistent pattern of poor communication. Emails would go unanswered for days. When responses came, they were often late in the evening and incomplete. Meanwhile, my client, a first-time buyer, had already given notice to her landlord and had no clear timeline on when she could close.

After multiple attempts to get answers, I raised concerns about the lack of communication. In response, I was told I could no longer communicate with the loan coordinator. Shortly after, Heather contacted my client directly and stated they would no longer work with me because I was “rude,” despite my client having full visibility into all communications and agreeing the concerns were valid.

Nearly two weeks after our original closing date, we still had no clear timeline. When I followed up again, the response was dismissive and provided no real update.

Even right before closing, last-minute requests were made for FHA repair photos that had already been provided weeks earlier. I still drove 35 minutes to the property to get them, only to confirm the lender already had the documentation...for weeks prior to this. Which again makes me blame them entirely for the delays in this transaction.

After closing, another major issue arose. The lender’s closing disclosure contained errors, resulting in a $2,000 shortfall due to double-counted earnest money. We were told Neighbors Bank would cover it, but they only sent $1,300, leaving my client to resolve the rest. The title company expressed serious concerns with how this file was handled and also threatened legal action against them.

This was one of the most disorganized and poorly communicated transactions I have experienced. I have filed formal complaints with both the lender and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I strongly advise agents and buyers to avoid this lending team. The lack of communication, conflicting guidance, and repeated errors created unnecessary stress and risk throughout the entire process.

We absolutely loved working with Jennifer B. and Nina E.!!!!! We were so grateful to have them on our side in the process of buying our first ever home!! We are so happy and proud to be a success story!

Jennifer B. was phenomenal throughout the whole process from start to finish! She was absolutely wonderful from the very beginning! She was prompt, timely, always answered questions thoroughly and went out of her way to find answers to our questions. She did her absolutely best to relieve any stress from us. She is the best and consistently went above and beyond for us!

Nina E. took over our account as our loan coordinator once the process already started. She joined the team swiftly and was very open with us. She did a great job stepping in and helping us get through this process.

We were beyond blessed to have Jennifer and Nina in our corner through this process!

I had such a great experience with Jennifer B

I had such a great experience with having Jennifer Brown as my Loan Officer. I couldn’t recommend using her more!! She was informative and extremely helpful all throughout this process. She was also always quick to respond to any questions I had and if she didn’t know the answer off the top of her head, she was quick to get one for me!

Best Loan Officer!

Jennifer Brown was the most helpful and kind loan officer I have ever worked with. She kept me informed and walked me through the entire process which can be very scary. It was a smooth process with Neighbors Bank and it was all thanks to Jennifer.
