avoid, company is dissolved but the website is still taking orders!

Jason refused a refund for the item I purchased when I asked multiple times. He has 3 different emails and wont answer any of them. He used to come across as a very nice guy but it seems he turned scam artist.

When I went to the bank to claim a refund he disputed this over and over direct to the bank without reason (still wouldnt talk to me) until I showed trust pilot reviews to the bank as evidence, he likes to drag out claims until the date has passed for them to be valid.

It worries me people will still use the website unaware its a dead company.

A sad end to what was a good company

I was a longstanding customer of Nerd Toys and they were to begin with a really good company in terms of reliability, price and customer service.

They were fun to engage with on social media and even had a loyalty points rewards scheme.

Whenever there was a mistake the owner Jason would put it right, would let me keep the wrong figure sent and replace it with the right one.

He gave me a discount on an item out of goodwill when he didn’t really need to.

Somewhere along the way it has all gone badly wrong. I know Covid hit the business hard and then the expansion to the new premises must have not worked out with financial losses spiralling out of control.

Having seen what happened with Sonner Toys and Toysarama I knew it had been tough for small businesses and I did somewhat fear that this was happening to NT.

I recall, a £200 pre order I made taking 2 years to come into stock despite being available elsewhere. I put my faith in NT despite being worried and eventually got my item. I reckon there will have been countless others in the same situation but will have cancelled those orders (understandably so) which I know does impact stores financially.

I also at one point ordered an instock item that did not show up so I called the store and was advised about a mistake with the listing and another and so I got it cancelled.

These type of mistakes were out of character for the store and so it was there for me that the warning signs were there that the company was struggling.

I see ‘E Barnes’ has questioned people who had written about getting a refund and the validity of this. Well I have to say what those reviewers are saying is absolutely true. In June 2023 I got a refund for my pre-order of around £120 with the store, as I had grave concerns about ever seeing the item as I could tell the store was struggling. I sent many e-mails and had a few phone calls with Jason.

I got the impression that Jason did want to keep his business going he was passionate about toys, a collector himself and was working 2 jobs in addition to running his struggling business from what I could hear.

During that period I kept messaging his business e-mail and Facebook and like I say Jason did do the right thing where I was concerned and I got my refund for that pre-order.

I had good relations with Jason from our chats on the phone and on the social media pages I genuinely liked him as a person and his business.

He did come across to me as a good guy and I know many others would say the same thing but I have read some of these reviews and it does appear that there are some collectors that have been left out of pocket which is what happened to me with Sonner Toys and understandably are very upset.

I see that the company is now dissolved and I was really hoping they get back on their feet, that the business would thrive again and that collectors would get their items in hand.

Never pre-order from these guy's, No communication. I paid in full for my pre-order I understand that release dates can change but it is now over 1 year since release date and i have heard nothing. I would not try to cancel as they will ignore all e-mails

Just tried to contact nerd toys to see when I will be getting my chucky doll Which I placed ages ago and Pre order date is long gone. its all been paid for as I paid it monthly Emails don't work no Facebook page now and no numbers £550 down. Has this company gone?

Keep away from Nerd Toys !!!

Pre ordered over £100 worth of items ,pre order dates have long gone and all other suppliers are selling them.Nerd toys has 3 different email addresses and they don't answer on any of them,totally disgusting,can't understand why this company is still going,trading standards need to step in

Please do not use this supplier I have 5 outstanding orders that has been on order for over a year totaling to nearly £200 pounds I have tried to contact the supplier a number of times but I get no response.

AVOID - Go to Trading Standards and Small Claims

I never had trouble with them until recently.

Jason sent out a email about his troubles and felt for him.

But with no sign of my order, I asked for updates, no reply, then I asked for a refund, no reply, and it forced me to go the small claims route after trying to resolve this without doing so with the help of trading standards.

The fact he's kept the site up and accepting orders still, is disgusting, the contact address ISN'T even correct (trading standards advised me of the correct address - Jason McQuade, Nerd Toys Limited, 47 Bridgland Road, Purfleet-on-Thames, Essex, RM19 1AP is the current trading address for those who need it).

I also have read on here how some have suddenly received loads of junk and spam since complaining, and I'm saddened to say I am experiencing this, unsure if its connected or coincidental, but if it is connected, It's very sad and petty.

I'd recommend using Props and Replicas if you need a new go to store, I need to check out the Whole-SheBang.

But don't even flirt with the thought of ordering at Nerd Toys.

He's a crook and although I am sorry about his troubles, he deserves to be charged as he's ripping people off and keeping their money and trying get away with it during a cost of living crisis.

Placed a pre order in August 2021 around Christmas that year he promised me my item in January so i foolishly waited only for it not to turn up, would contact him a few more times for him to say it coming soon. As from January of this year I've been unable to contact him again. Absolute con man

Jason Mcquade..how can this person still be getting away with it

No response. Paid by PayPal unfortunately too much time has passed for them to help,they suggested I talk to my bank ,don't hold much hope but I'll try, i just dont understand how this person has got away with conning so many people.

DONT Preorder- read for insight and history of Nerd toys

For stand alone purchases this company can be good, the price is right and I've had items no problem. The issue is pre orders.

I'm aware that over the 12-18 months Nerd Toys have had issues, they have relocated, had stock issues and even had to set up several alternative email address which were now clearly part of the scam.

I pre ordered an item and nearing it's time of release were seeing mutterings that the company was going bust. I contacted but heard nothing back. Since then the item was released in the uk by other outlets so I contacted again and again heard nothing. Over the period of a month or two i sent a lot of messages to both emails and got no responses, the item on the website is still listed with no update to the release date. I would have been happy with just a response, some reassurance that everything is ok and he is still planning to send the item as he is always nice to deal with (normally). But I got nothing.

So I was forced to try to claim my money back through the bank. I know this is a small company and its a real shame as the prices are good and I want to buy other things from here but I can't trust this company anymore. Although I have made a claim for a refund it's been refused by him direct to my bank with no information as to why. He will contact my bank but not me.
It's a disgusting way to treat people it honestly is, even if he refused the refund he could have contacted me as a result to let me know not to panic but he hasn't.
I can only assume this is theft. He isnt sending the item, wont communicate, refuses the refund and refuses the claim, it's crooked plain and simple.

Real shame as this company never used to operate like this and now I have a seemingly continuing fight on my hands with nerd toys.

UPDATE: I've been told that again he has refused my dispute direct to the bank. I've also contacted direct clearly asking for a refund, this is now theft and I don't know how he can get away with it. The rumour is the company is going insolvent in December 2023, it seems to me his plan is to delay all disputes as much as possible until he goes into administration as every time the bank contacts him he has 30 days to respond and he is really dragging it out.

It's just Disgusting

It's just Disgusting, I am still trying to get in touch with Jason to resolve a refund of £200 for a pre order from July 2022 and refund was meant to go through Feb 23 but never happened and contact stopped directly after which really hurt, I have contacted PayPal but fear it will not help and my bank won't go near it. Really gutted and feel sick that this has happened not just to me but many others, does anyone have any other ideas about how to go about this situation as it's really upsetting, Jason if you see this, just get in touch.

WONDER WOMAN NEVER ARRIVED

My wife ordered an item in May 2022. Due to arrive October 2022. Still to this date no delivery, no responses, no refund. Delivery put back 5 times. No reply to emails. Letter regarding a full refund sent to address in Tilbury, Essex this week. Letter returned as no one at that address. Spoken to trading standards, citizens advice and Company's House. No other address available. To take him to court you need a current address so courts can issue necessary paperwork to him. No joy with our bank regarding a charge back as we have gone over the 122 days limit, since purchase date, to report a fraudulent transaction and claim cash refund via bank. Looks like we have to write it off as a bad experience seeing as we don't have a valid, current address to contact Jason Mcquade. If you are having the same issues, as we are having, then we reported it as a fraudulent transaction via Action Fraud UK over the phone. Very helpful, and friendly. They take a statement then give you a crime number and its then passed onto to other investigation departements inluding the local police force where he traded from. Doubt we'll see our money again, but even if Jason hit hard times, after running a successful, honest business prior to this, he must be stopped running off with customers cash.

How do we get our money back

Does anyone have an updated address for Nerd Toys as we have sent a tracked letter to the one on their website and the Gov UK website from the advice given to us from Citizens Advice about getting our pre order refunded after seeing everyone else’s reviews saying he’s a con artist and it’s been returned to sender as apparently there was no one at that address. Jason has taken almost £300 from us when we put in our pre order in may 2022 and CA said we won’t be able to go to the small claims court without having a valid address to send the papers to. Barclays have said there’s nothing they can do because it’s been over 120 days since the transaction was made so any advice would be appreciated

Do not order as Jason McQuade (nerdtoysuk) will steal your money

I ordered a 1/4 neca predator jungle hunter on July 31st 2022 and have not had any updates on what is going on. I have been trying to get into contact for months but I am being ignored on all formats. I am looking for a refund since i ordered this over a year ago but it just seems to be a big scam.
