Left Avast for a slightly cheaper antivirus, but am swiftly going back to Avast. Norton took over my pc and completely messed up web browsing/ websites don’t display correctly anymore and everything is slow.

The protection works well. Mind you, be careful to remove auto-renewal as soon as your have started with them. Thus way you don't accidentally end up renewing. You can cancel it by logging on to their website and tick off the auto-renew box in your account. So good company for virus protection but extremely annoying, typical American money grabbing attitude to customers!

I have been a customer of norton for many years now but their renewal tactics this year mean I will be looking elsewhere for antivirus protection. The renewal offer states that my existing product is replaced by Norton lifelock which, as you might guess, is much more expensive. To renew with norton I would have to sign up to £39.99 for the first year with automatic renewal at £94.99 for the next year. This is lowlife con trick selling at its very worst and I am not buying! There are plenty other antivirus companies out there and that is where I am heading. My very next job is to remove all traces of norton from my pc.

J'édite car nous sommes le 26/10 et toujours aucune bonne nouvelle.
Même avec les preuves de payements ils continuent de faire tourner les gens en rond.
Pas d'antivirus alors que c'est payé depuis bien longtemps.

Rimeligt ironisk at et antivirusprogram oprører sig fuldstændig som en virus. Har nu kæmpet med at få det afinstalleret, men det kan man så åbenbart ikke bare gøre. Mon systemet prøver at gøre sig besværlig for at man skal forny licensen?

It would appear that the customer service/tech support is outsourced and one of three things are the problem:

1) Poor understanding of the English language.
2) Lack of technical competence
3) Can't be bothered.

I bought their Deluxe product and I explained that I had tried to create a rescue USB disk. I explained that I had tried to set up the rescue in Windows, using both Rufus (recommended by them) and unetbootin. it didn't work, I explained that I had tried to therefore create a rescue USB in Linux. She then couldn't get her head around a client having a dual boot setup and the reason why Linux would be beneficial in this scenario.

The person I spoke to was not technically competent and did not want to escalate my enquiry to second line. I don't appreciate my time being wasted and if a company cannot create a rescue ISO (I have used many over the years), and then doesn't care about customers enough to put me in touch with this technically incompetent person, then I will not give them my service.

Maybe a record, but they had my custom for an hour. When I started as a network Engineer back in 2003, we didn't have any time for Norton due to how their programs slowed down computers. It doesn't seem that anything has improved in over 15 years in the overall product offering. I have asked for a refund and luckily paid through Paypal as I was, as it turns out rightly, wary.

Contacted customer service for support as the student discount code I was provided was not working. The adviser first claimed Norton do not offer student discount which resulted in my having to send screen shots of the website to prove that they do in fact offer this. The advisor then told me that if I purchased at the standard price whilst on the phone with him, he would then refund the difference. As soon as I confirmed that I had done this he told me that he would not be able to refund the difference as the additional amount was 'tax'. Despite my informing him that in the UK the price shown includes tax he refused to refund the amount he had initially said he would. Completely unacceptable to make it impossible to buy at the offered price and then to lie in order to convince customers to make a purchase.

Slows Windows 10 down and the programme is really slow. In the process of uninstalling it, so far thats took 15 mins. Dont ask about the auto renewal they are really cheeky.

Re-new, this year £29.99 NEXT year £84.99 and you have to agree to auto re-new. Phoned Norton and they agreed to lower next year to £29.99, so why after several years with Norton do they try to rip you off.
If I had agreed to the deal, I would also have to agree to auto re-new. I will not be using Norton in future.
There are lots of other Anti-virus software out there.
I am with BT broadband so I get FREE McAfee protection!

VPN qui se déconnecte tout seul, il se lance quand il veut, comment peut-on avoir confiance après ça. J'ai eu cet antivirus en cadeau suite à l'achat d'un PC, je laisse passer l'année puis le vire. Quand on télécharge LÉGALEMENT un fichier ou autre, cette daube de VPN se déconnecte et le téléchargement s'arrête. Vraiment pitoyable. Heureusement que je ne l'ai pas payé. C'est une grosse M***E

I am a computer security consultant. When staying in Newark Northgate in England, the owners were very kind and professional.

I came accross the landlord being scammed, unfortunatly far too late. The loud voice of the Indian sounding scammer had already hijacked his PC and taken a large sum of money - but still would not restore the PC rather tried to extort even more. I came along and topped that. Sad that NORTON ANTIVIRUS WAS installed and gave a FALSE sense of trust to the owner who was not so
computer savy. To anybody complaining that I mentioned "Indian". The Indian government has "eventually" helped us anti-hacking teams track these people down.

They "eventually" realised that these scammers caused 80% of Indian sounding business phone calls that were legitemate to be REJECTED. Even bank call centers and ticket companies,
were no longer able to operate from India! COSTING SOME MILLIONS OF JOBS AND OVER YEARS AT LEAST 40 BILLION DOLLARS FARE EXCEEDING WHAT THE SCAMMERS EARNED!

The missuse of remote admin software on a computer that has
never needed it, is OBVIOUSLY CLEARLY CRIMINAL.
Anti-virus companies need to WARN users that they have
any form of control, screen sharing, keyboard logging,
a current remote login etc.

Anybody can INSTALL a huge list of other spyware and Norton Virus does nothing, the truth is the others are just as bad.

RIP off artists. I found out they had been debiting my credit card for 5 years at £89.99 a year. I never subscribed to a subscription with them at all. They told me I had (but cannot show me where).
They told me they sent emails to me every year reminding me of renewals which is also and out and out lie. I have checked both my inbox, trash and junk mail -nothing. If you want your money back they are adamant they won’t give it back but instead offer you a further year for free with Norton. Companies like this sicken me to my stomach. Useless company, useless software and staff who are even worse and don’t give a damn if they have stolen your money or not by making unauthorised debits. Thieves in my opinion.

Bonjour, il s'agit bien d'une arnaque. Vous installez norton et la fonction " renouvellement automatique" est activée dans les menus et non dite à l'installation. Résultat, ils se servent un an après sur ce même compte pour 70 euros et non 30e de promo pour 1 an de plus.
Et vous n'y pouvez rien vu que vous vous apercevez de cela trop tard. C'est contre productif parce que je ne serai plus client ni moi ni les personnes que je pourrai convaincre. Ils ont tout de même réussi à se servir sur une carte "virtualis" VIDE. C'est vous dire la détermination malveillante.. au revoir à tous.

This is the worst company around. They just want to waste your time and money.

I've been using Norton for years and I thought it was great but since 2017 it had gone down hill.

1. The switched to subscription based model. They added useless features like lifelock to justify a yearly $179 fee. I don't use lifelock and I don't care for it. If the credit company already lose your personal data due to hacking then your info is already our there. Kinda makes you wonder if there's conspiracy to make you buy services like LifeLock.

2. I used to pay for $59 a year for 5 pcs. Now I have to pay ~$100 and all they added was 5 more pcs for a total of 10 coverage. I cannot go back to just 5 pc coverage. They force you to buy more so they can charge you more.

3. The antivirus has gotten more aggressive. It deletes my files right away without giving the choice to keep it. Moreover, digging through the options takes painfully slow.

4. Each time it updates it recreates its icon on my desktop! I hate that. It basically it does its thing without giving you control over it.

5. You cannot use Chrome and Firefox to pay for subscription when you checkout. You have to use Microsoft EDGE. Shouldn't they be testing their ordering system?

In conclusion. While I liked Norton for years it is no longer meeting my expectation and it has gotten too expensive with lifelock. I will do my homework to search for alternative anti-virus package next year. Currently, I am considering bitdefender. The reason I paid for one more year is I don't have the time to uninstall all the antivirus on 4 pcs as I am busy with my business.
