Absolutely shite...just bread waste of an app

Not a great experience. I joined one of the squads and I found some people there not supportive in comparison to another one where I had a few collections and sharings. They publicly told me how to do things even though I did it the right way in my opinion. It was just a case of "i know it better". I left the squad as I found it unnecessary portion of stress and then I found out that Olio removed my role as a Food Waste Hero afterwards due to the fact that my rating went below 4. So because some members of the squad did not like what I said and that I argued my case as i found what they said unfair and tried to explain, they probably reported me or something as my rating immediately went below 4. At that particular occasion Olio had no issues with my activity. It was just somebody's opinion and their rating that led to me being kicked out. So even though I collected stuff, listed it, and as there was nobody interested, I shared the food with local retirement housing residents, I got kick in the face from the squad. Otherwise the food would need to go to bin. But the squad knew it better and argued with me publicly and then I believe reported as I got removed straight after. I met some great individuals and some that play bosses which effectively made me give this review as Olio itself seem to not care. There are other things too, which make me think that there is a lot to improve.

TERRIBLE customer service - My neighbour and I have been dedicated Olio users and Food Waste Heroes for a year. Over the last 12 months, we have worked hard to build trusted, excellent relationships with local shops, store staff, and our wider community. The entire ethos of Olio is to prevent food waste, and we proudly helped do exactly that. Now, we have both lost our regular collection slots over a faulty technical glitch. Both our accounts have been permanently banned because an algorithm falsely flagged us as "sharing a household" simply because we live next door to each other. Support agents rejected our appeal, citing the fact that we shared 5 items via the app over a one-month period as "proof" of fraud. This logic is completely flawed. Some of these "proofs" were "Save Me" items meaning if we were actually gaming the system or living together, we could have simply kept them or shared them privately without using the app at all. Listing and requesting them through the app proves we were following the rules, yet it is being used against us. How can two people living at two entirely different addresses, with definitive proof, be permanently banned as a sharing household?
Worse, the automated text broadcast to our local collection groups indicated a ban, causing massive reputational harm in the local community by implying we somehow cheated the system. Olio explicitly advertises a right of appeal and escalation to a Team Leader, but they don't actually provide it. They have completely stopped replying to our emails, ignored our appeals, and refused to look at our official proof that we reside at entirely separate properties. I am posting here to request that a senior manager or Team Lead manually review our case, look at the residency documents we submitted, and override this error.

Really easy to download sign up and use the app. Great listing and messaging features. Hopefully some location notifications improve as I get notifications for things not as local as I’d like but it’s a really good app :)

Is a super good option for not wasting the food .We love this food .Pick up for Nighbour and share what we not needing.Also we saving money in the week .Now we can go in the holiday for this money what we saved.

I was locked out of my account and had no access to my old email address 🤦 emailed Olio and Andrea managed to sort it out by the next day, very helpful for an already good app

Super way of interacting with people and giving items a 2nd home

Olio is great for saving money, helping feed the community for free, while reducing food waste. What is not to love!?! Who doesn’t love freebies?! Download the app you will not be disappointed. It has saved our family heaps on our food bill. Give it a go!!

App is great! If you need anything for a meal, for free or a cheap price, this is the app for you! The people on this app is friendly, and always like to help. Would recommend!

Lots of Olio heros close to me and I have been able to help them all by sharing items I pick up with friends and neighbours.

Great Idea but the links to Instagram, Facebook etc don't work.
Would certainly like to volunteer as an ambassador

Olio are trying to block negative reviews. They are a scam, trying to block people helping their community. These people are wrong! They keep trying to cancel out negative reviews

Good but as I remember when pick up is chosen as arranged & no show doesn’t let you opt for re available.

They had a great idea and they've executed it brilliantly. It's easy to get involved and easy to use. Everybody should be using Olio.

Olio app and the actual charity that it creates is by and for the people who need it most I am very grateful to be part of the community and a food waste hero

Olio is great. I do it to help reduce food waste! I wish more people would pick up as there is so much .

Very efficient service. And great to avoid food waste. Very easy to use with regular updates about collection. We should all be using this. 😊

A man created another profile to harass me and the olio staff did absolutely nothing.
It's not a safe platform for women nor are the owners or staff competent because they gladly take the perpetrators side!
Avoid this ad riddled app and buy in date food instead as it's bread bread bread 🍞

Used to be a oilio food Champion when it was first set up circa 2016

However @ that time, they hid the fact they charge supermarkets a fee for volunteers to collect surplud products. Be clear They are NOT a charity its also my view, their #DEI is not in place, & who knows what these fees are used for. Their CEOs are on some serious coin, the recycled food industry is worth millions & then there is the write offs for insurance purposes.
Managers & staff in leadership postitions are of a certain demograph .....
It is the view of some that any company profiteering from poverty should be avoided. Companies should consider only donating to Transparent ,FoodBanks Not Community Shops , Churches, & Fath organisation whom operate #Dignity Principles
