Awful experience.

Awful experience, zero stars needed. I purchased a wardrobe and selected the date of April 17th at checkout. I arranged for someone to be at my property all day and for the old one to be dismantled. The item never arrived.

I contacted the company via email and they responded Monday, they kept saying the courier company had a back log and my item was on the way. I in turn called FedEx personally and they told me they were awaiting my shipment. Will personally assured me my delivery would arrive on the 21st, and said the company isn’t responsible for the delay due to using a third party. This is false, when you buy a product and select a date your contract for that resides completely with the company you ordered from.

When i checked the tracking on the evening of the 20th I saw the item still said “label created” and that it was still not shipped. On the morning of the 21st I contacted FedEx and they said they were still awaiting the package. I then emailed my cancellation of this product and contacted my bank to initiate the refund process.

The company sent the package hours after this and Katie emailed me to tell me it was on the way and that if I refused the package I’d be charged £55. This is false information used to scare people into accepting a delivery. Under the consumer rights act once a company breaks the delivery contract you can cancel your item. You can also refuse the item at the door especially if they send it after you have cancelled.

The driver turned up and I simply told him this item is to be returned. He took the item and left. Katie then emailed me to tell me I would receive my full refund.

I will never recommend this company nor make any further purchases from them. Please learn your consumer rights if you’re planning on ordering from here. Or take your money to a reputable seller like Amazon or Argos.

We do rely on third-party couriers for fulfilment, and unfortunately, there are occasions where delays occur that are outside of our direct control, despite our best efforts to monitor and chase these on our customers’ behalf.

As the item had been dispatched, any return would normally incur a charge to cover courier and handling costs. This is outlined in our terms and conditions, which are agreed to at the point of order, and is in line with the Consumer Rights Act.

That said, in this instance, once you advised us of your cancellation and refusal of delivery, we did ensure that no return charge was applied and a full refund was processed for you.

Will never buy from them again

Will never buy from them again. Bought a wardrobe and paid £199. It arrived ok but it had so many parts and pieces were not correct size and it said no drilling needed but we had to drill 50%. By the time we realised we were too far in to dismantle and return.

Very disappointing experience from…

Very disappointing experience from start to finish. Our bed arrived with missing boxes, damaged parts and incomplete hardware, which meant we couldn’t assemble it. Over the following weeks we were repeatedly promised urgent replacements and next-day deliveries, but these either didn’t arrive or more parts turned out to be missing. This resulted in multiple handyman visits and extra costs, while our daughter was left sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

Communication was polite but ultimately ineffective — lots of apologies, but very little actually resolved. Each time we thought the issue was fixed, another problem appeared, including missing structural parts and even the wardrobe pole. After weeks of delays and inconvenience, we requested either a goodwill gesture or a return. This was refused, and we were told the item could not be returned because it had been assembled — despite us only assembling it after repeated delays to avoid further charges.

Overall, this has been a stressful and frustrating experience with poor quality control, slow resolution times and no meaningful customer care. I would not recommend based on this experience.

I wouldn’t even rate 1 star but I have no option but to click that.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. I ordered a wardrobe worth over £250 which was marked as “delivered”, however when I returned home from work, it was nowhere to be found.

I contacted the company immediately, but instead of helping resolve the issue, they repeatedly asked me to provide a crime reference number. I reported this as requested, only to be told by the crime team that this situation is a civil matter under the Consumer Rights Act, not a police issue meaning they cannot issue a crime reference number.

I passed this information back to the company, yet they continue to ignore what I’ve provided and keep asking for the same thing, rather than taking responsibility or offering a resolution. I’ve now been left out of pocket with no product and no refund.

As a result, I’ve had to purchase a replacement wardrobe elsewhere, where the service, delivery, and communication were all handled professionally something this company has completely failed at.

Very poor customer service, lack of accountability, and no effort to resolve a genuine issue. I would strongly advise others to avoid.

As the parcel was shown as delivered by the courier, and you reported it could not be located on your property, the courier classed this as a potential theft once delivery had been confirmed. In these circumstances, they require a crime reference number as part of their standard investigation process, which is the procedure they follow for parcels reported missing after being marked as delivered.

We fully understand your comments regarding the advice you received from the crime team. From our side, we are required to work within both courier procedures and the Consumer Rights Act, which sets out responsibility once goods are confirmed as delivered to the address provided.

I phoned to make sure the cabinet I wanted was in stock and was assured it was. I ordered and paid. Received a confirmation e mail but after 5 days still no information about delivery. During this time I phoned the store and was assured delivery would be by the end of the week or beginning of next week. During this time I sent an online message on your site (no reply) also, an e mail (no reply). Today 3rd phone call I was told the one cabinet at the warehouse was damaged and it would be 7_8 weeks before one was back in. Dreadful customer service. I would not use them again.

Save your time and money

You need to stop using fedx have had no update and still wait bring back shops sick of companie take money then thinking your time means nothing easy to phob you off on line was going to buy the matching waredorbe not now ivery poor next day means next day not when you feel like and it all someone else fault would give you 0 star

Excellent service from this company, from placing the order to delivery. I was kept up to date by email and knew exactly when to expect my furniture. 100% customer service

I ordered a wardrobe that was scratched upon arrival. I contacted customer service and Katie went above and beyond to get me a partial refund for the damage or a replacement of the parts that were damaged. Fast and efficient

From ordering to delivery of my goods my experience with Own furniture was extremely fast and efficient. Even although I had a problem with one of my chairs it was sorted out in no time. The emails I received were very courteous and pleasant and at no time did I feel as if I was a bother. Avoid Own Furniture – terrible quality, robot-like customer service, and dangerous delivery

I bought a cupboard from Own Furniture, and it broke during normal assembly. I contacted them expecting a straightforward solution, but instead I got endless generic replies blaming me and refusing a refund or replacement. They claimed the damage wasn’t their fault, despite the product clearly being faulty. Their emails repeat themselves constantly, just like the scripted responses I’ve seen them post on negative reviews — they sound like robots reading from a script.

The delivery was another nightmare. They said they would call 30 minutes before delivery, but never did. They left 96 kg boxes blocking the entrance door, so no one could get in or out of the building — completely unsafe and unacceptable.

No matter how many times I explained the situation, they kept repeating the same defensive lines and offered no real resolution. They even told me I could escalate to outside authorities, as if I hadn’t already tried being reasonable. I just want my money back to buy a proper cupboard, but their rigid, frustrating approach makes it nearly impossible.

Do not buy from Own Furniture. Poor quality products, robotic customer service, dangerous delivery practices — this company will drive you crazy. Save yourself the time, stress, and money.

Overall an absolutely fantastic…

Overall an absolutely fantastic experience. Products exceeded expectations, flat packed furniture is rarely good quality or easy to assemble, but to my surprise these items were both excellent quality and easy to assemble. Items arrived quickly and were delivered with due care and attention (Fedex), although one item was incorrect, Own Furniture resolved this and arranged a collection and exchange within 48 hours. Customer Service absolutely brilliant (Katie is a superstar). I have no hesitation in recommending this business and its products.
