Fraud of a Company - do not book with them

Dear OYO, why do you lie and confirm to people you have refunded them. It is now day 14 working days and still no sight of a refund. Please explain ??

Avoid like the plague and report this business to the CCPC

Such a stupid booking service. you can’t modify the booking, there is no customer service to help you out, app is equally useless, everything is just so stressful from the start. Seriously, do not book from here. From the get go the confirmation email doesn’t look legit at all, price is too good to be true in comparison to other booking sites, but now it makes sense because it is a scammy website. One star rating is already generous. This app deserves to be dumped to the bin.

It’s a shame you have to select a star…

It’s a shame you have to select a star at all. I’m sorry to say this is by far the worst service I have ever experienced. Made a booking that I am currently trying to cancel. Verified I no longer wish to stay with them and I do not wish to be charged. Tried to cancel myself online OTP doesn’t work, called and finally got my details across to the operator and I got cut off no one attempted to call me back. I am now communicating through WhatsApp texts not being given any information. Now frustrated that cancelling a hotel room is taking all day! I am then told my request is under review and may take 7-14 days to complete. I’m sorry but what a load of bullshit. AVOID if you would like to keep your sanity intact. If this transaction goes through I’m out €200 I’m not happy

KEEP AWAY!!! SCAM!!

We booked one night stay at Llyndir Hotel Wrexham. On arrival, after 8 hours journey, we found this hotel had been closed since 2020. Obviously a scam being ran by Oyo. We were lucky enough to find another hotel. The reviews, comments and photographs shown on Llyndir Hotel website are false with the photographs being from pre 2020.

Another middleman taking money for doing nothing

Booked Hotel346, a hotel associated with OYO although I booked and paid through booking.com. On arrival I found that the hotel was fenced off and clearly no longer trading. The place is still bookable on both booking.com and OYO sites which to me is little more than a scam. So far I have failed to get my payment refunded.

Do not book with the company

Do not book with the company. I didnt realise that booking through expedia that this was a Oyo hotel, avoid like the plague - I have been trying to make a complaint about the noise at the hotel and I am not getting through to anyone or getting a response. So please email or call me . I have emailed the email address I was given and your online chat doesnt work and no one picks up the call

Sadly one star is the only option…

Sadly one star is the only option as zero stars do not exist. Big scam, booked a property which was in the end not available. They take immediately your money from the creditcard and are afterwards, when the shit hits the fan, not available or willing to resolve the matter. Stay away from this scam from India!

Scamming company, avoid.

Booked a hotel with this company for an overnight stay. I booked through Booking.com and opted to pay on arrival, with a credit card holding deposit, normal stuff.

Arrived at the “hotel” and it was horrific, seemingly an actual halfway house for addicts that rented out rooms on the side. The proprietor told us that if we stayed we would likely be mugged and our vehicle would be stolen. They refused to let us stay and said they’d cancel the booking.

I then got notified that Oyo was not going to cancel and they tried to take money off of my credit card anyway. Their phone number and online chat is also totally unusable. Seems like a common scam with this company. Avoid.

fees added and deducted but not stated anywhere

Cost of room displayed as £52, but they charged £56. It does not tell you there is a service charge at any point in the process. This is unacceptable as you get charged without knowledge until the credit card payment is processed.

The 100% refund is a lie too. I cancelled the following day, obviously within free refund period. Yet £10 has been deducted from my refund - it stated I was outside the refund period!

Got reply to send details of booking number. No further information several days later. Chat bot says there’s no booking with the reference, yet it was on my confirmation and entered correctly!

Stressful Cancellation Process

I booked the Belvilla Crewe City Centre hotel for 2 nights, but my plans changed due to circumstances out of my control. I tried multiple times to cancel my booking on the website and app, but had issues with not receiving a one time passcode to authenticate it. On the rare occasion I did receive a code, the website crashed or nothing happened. I tried to email them with my issue, but both email addresses I tried gave me a bounce back email saying it was undeliverable.

Their cancellation policy on their website states cancellation is free until 9am the day before, after that I’d either need to pay for 1 night or pay the full amount if I didn’t show up. It seems like a trap since it’s almost impossible to contact them. The whole situation has been increasingly stressful and frustrating. I will not be booking with OYO in the future.

I have had to externally escalate my case to try and resolve it. It’s something that could be resolved within 5 minutes by them, but they appear to be doing anything to drag it out as long as possible, such a disgusting way to treat customers. I would strongly recommend to avoid at all costs.

Update: They have since cancelled my booking, the lengths I’ve had to go to in order for it to happen has been shocking and very unnecessary.

Something so simple made very difficult.

When I booked I made a request for early check-in as I'm travelling for a wedding. I was told I would need to contact the hotel directly.
The number given was invalid. I went back to OYO a number of times and each got given the same number repeatedly. I finally got through to a call centre who again gave me the invalid number and told me that's the only one they have. They advised me to make my request when I check-in and ended the call saying there was nothing else they could do.
I sent another email and got more numbers and a random email address, numbers were not in use or just rang continuously with no answer, regardless of the time.
I can't believe that they didn't have the contact details for the hotel I booked at. When I asked to complain they contradicted everything that was said in previous emails.
Even the link sent to make a complaint didn't work. I cancelled my reservation and booked somewhere else. An absolute waste of time.
Edit: Following reply from OYO my booking ref was 5720649460 and proposed stay was for 1st Aug at The White Horse, Ripon.
Further edit: My booking was through a 3rd party so there was no money paid to refund at this stage. This is just a bog standard response. Terrible.

Complete scammers

Booking ref T7AY9579
Complete scammers. Cancelled my booking with less than an hour until check in due to “issues at the guesthouse” (something I now see is a common excuse to cancel bookings and keep people’s money). Full refund was offered and was told it would be in my account in 5-7 working days.
No working email address, app sends you in circles and “guesthouse reception” is a mobile number that is never answered.
I will be pursuing legal action as this cowboy company have fraudulently obtained money for a service not provided.
UPDATE 14/5/2026 - they tried to get this review removed from Trust Pilot! Evidence provided so reinstated but refund still not received
UPDATE 15/5 - indeed an email has been sent to confirm refund will be processed but until it is received, this matter is still ongoing
UPDATE 21/5 - email sent and no response as full refund has not been processed, only partial. I await a response via email and the full refund as per email communication

Almost impossible to cancel a booking, the 'cancel booking' button takes to you a chat bot, the chat function on the website just takes you in circles that always ends up at a phone number that won't connect. The customer page has an error message where bookings should be. Eventually got hold of an agent through a number I found for the hotel on Google. Spent 10 minutes trying to cancel the booking, confirming that I did want to cancel it, giving a reason why, agreeing AGAIN that yes, I actually do want to cancel it! Can't believe it took an hour to do such a simple thing. Never using them again.

No way to contact OYO to cancel booking

I made a booking through OYO it clearly stated cancellation available. I wanted to cancel my booking. They did not send any email confirmation so i have no booking ID. Called 6 different numbers which all said not in service. Called the hotel who hady booing but said they could not canel it. Sent me a copy if the booking saying non refundable which is not what the OYO said. They were very unhelpful and gave me a number - didn't work. This is a scam to get people to book who think they can cancel then no confirmation sent and the hotel will not help as booked through OYO. No way to contact them. Following communications with OYO I have now received a full refund

Tried to cancel through the app and the…

Booking no. TKX98311. Tried to cancel multiple times but they don't send a OTP to do so. Phone number they gave me doesn't work. No way of cancelling the rooms. Utterly shocking service. Complete scam. Avoid at all costs!!!

Update 1 Following their response, still not able to cancel. Will be reporting them. And claiming off my credit card company. Do not use this site.

Update 2. They have my booking no. so how difficult is it to process. Also still unable to cancel online. Asks for code sent to phone but no code gets sent. Have raised dispute/s75 with credit card company. Anyone using this company must be mad.

Update 3. Complete fraudsters. Still not been refunded. It takes 10 secs to book hotel so why has it taken 5 days and still not cancelled.

Update 4. Still not been refunded after a week. Still impossible to cancel. My credit card company taking on the case. Contacting trading standards. The company should be banned.

My mistake - I never looked at reviews before I booked.
The manager at Great Yarmouth has no place in the service industry.
Appalled.
Update - Don't listen to their standard reply. Impossible to contact. Avoid. I've had to add another update - they don't answer emails. They say your booking is cancelled when it was never cancelled. They may even add they have a water leak. It's all excuses. Avoid at all costs. I've had to add another update because I'm dealing with a company who don't care. Look at their reviews on Trustpilot - it's the same story. Go away. I won't be dealing with you anymore.
But I don't want you to help me. I arrived on 1st of May for my booking and the manager said my booking was cancelled because I booked with a 3rd party - he lied. I then spoke to Richard - he said there was a leak. He lied. Hotels.com then tried to contact you - no answer. Stop bothering me. You want this review deleted - it's not going to happen. I will not be sharing my details with you. If you keep harassing me I will contact the police.

Booked and paid in full

Booked and paid in full. Called Oyo to cancel booking days ago. No response, no refund, no email. Torturous process trying to get through to Oyo on the phone. Update: After 21 days of posting here, still no refund. From a tech company. Yet Oyo reply here daily with bland AI responses that you’ll see in all reviews of everyone who, like me have been scammed. Update: Oyo have emailed and sent SMS messages saying they have ‘initiated’ a refund. I wait to see 1. If this actually happens and 2. If this update triggers another AI response.

Beware of using OYO to book hotels

This whole set up appears to be an elaborate sham. I needed to cancel a booking, and have tried emailing them and the email just bounces back as undeliverable. I have tried several different phone numbers and as soon as you mention that you want to cancel the line is cut off. Their on line log in doesn't actually work with the OTP's they provide.
Finally I gave up and have reported it to my card company as a fraudulent transaction.

OYO responded to my review but quite frankly after having already wasted a couple of hours trying to elicit a response via the usual channels and having seen lots of other similar reviews, I am not inclined to correspond with them via this channel.

2nd Update
My booking reference is 076P5211. You will have all my details from that. I will expect to hear from you directly by 5 p.m. UK time today.

3rd Update
I have given them the booking reference that they gave me and now they are asking for my contact details. I am not prepared to share those on a public forum. However I will share this - the booking was for 2 rooms for 1 night on 11/05/2026 at the Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. You can surely trace the booking from the reference that YOU supplied, and from these additional details. When I managed to get through on the phone you recognised my booking number from my phone number, so it must work they other way around. Please contact me directly using the contact details you must already have. I will not enter into any further correspondence via this forum.

Avoid - cannot cancel, when booked a rate with free cancellation

Edit - no one has contacted me, following this review but I have managed to cancel my booking by calling 020 388 70032.

Booking number - CH478134

Due to a change in travel plans, needed to cancel room, which was within my rights.
Link to cancel room, on original email, takes you to a chatbot that is supposed to send an OTP, in order to cancel room. But no OTP comes through.
Rang hotel directly and they said they would email Head Office to get room cancelled.
Also sent multiple emails and had no response.
Room still not cancelled.
Will have to ask credit card to do a chargeback.
Never had such poor experience from a hotel booking site.
