It's SCAM! I ended up paying £541 for opening the door lock and install new key instead of £45.
Initially when I was talking on the phone, the staff said the cost is about £45.
Then the engineer came to us, as soon as he saw my door, this is high security one so it costs more like £265, but it turned out that the invoice was £541 total. I paid it because he was big scary
looking man also I was in panic, couldn't
make the normal decision.
The engineer was here only lest than 30mins, it was quick job. The item in the invoice it says lock set with 3 keys but he didn't create any keys from scratch, just handed 3 keys attached with the lock. Please please avoid this locksmiths , they are absolute SCAM!!!

In hindsight, I would never have accepted their recommendations. A little search on YouTube would show you that they don't need to drill out your lock (they just get way more money doing it this way). They were not clear on the costs either, quoting me and then adding VAT on top. This is not a Business transaction, VAT should be included in the quote. All in, it cost me £460 to have the lock replaced. I would stay away from them, and be wary of any others to quickly jump to 'need to replace the lock'!

My 86 year old mother was charged in excess of £600 for a lock barrel change, the parts would've been less than £30 to buy and the chap was on site for a very short time. These people clearly feed of of the elderly.
I have spoken with the locksmiths association and in spite of the fact that they use their logo.
I will be taking this further through legal means and would ask anyone else that has had problems with the to do the same; they should not be allowed to prey on people in this way

Can only underscore what previous posters have listed. DO NOT CONTACT THEM. My wife was locked out of our house and they quoted £40 over the phone. When the tech arrived he charged her £180 after being there less than 10 minutes. When I called to ask for details and register a complaint I was hung up on repeatedly. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE.

A simple call out during business hours to either pick the lock on the door or drill it out and replace a new barrel… locksmith said he could drill it out faster than picking it hence saving time and money… 20 minutes from start to finish… £845. PLUS VAT … these guys are the biggest scam within the locksmith business… they operate under several different companies… beware of ProUK Locksmith, Cheap Locksmith, Jonathan & Son Locksmith… SCAM SCAM SCAM BEWARE !!!

In their favour they turned up promptly and fixed the locks, hence the 2 stars. The property in question was my elderly mother in law’s flat. She was returning home from hospital but her carer decided for some inexplicable reason to leave a key on the inside of the door while she was being treated. When the locksmith turned up he said the initial work would be £125 plus the cost of the new barrel/keys. After the lock was drilled out he then showed me two options for a new barrel, one for £230 and another for over £400 (the average cost to buy from Screwfix etc is less than £50). The prices quoted excluded VAT. The total came to £426. I have since requested numerous times an amended invoice stating the reason for the repair so I can make a claim from the carers company but they are not interested in replying now they have my money. I know I should have checked their fees beforehand but it was an urgent request. I didn’t expect it to be cheap but something half the price for less than an hours work would have been reasonable. Use Checkatrade or Trust a Trader and gets prices beforehand, including the prices for new barrels and/or locks.
