Have been in contact with James Petts re Richard Bloomfield taking on my case. Told to send over paperwork- explained too much to do electronically so will post.
Reply from James - Bloomfield would not be able to take on the case!! So already knowing my case why tell me to send papers? Just wasted my time. Then I see recent revue of Broomfield!!! Lucky escape

Enduring thanks to John Hudson. He stepped in to assist several times in my finance matter when the going was tough. I greatly valued how at ease he put me with his calm, reassuring manner, genuine interest, and willingness to listen. He is clearly a barrister who cares. He is the most excellent communicator, naturally detecting how I needed to communicate. He gave so generously of time and expertise, going way beyond. I can’t thank him enough for all he did and for the consequent positive impact at court and on me.

I contracted barrister Richard Bloomfield of Quartz Barristers via the My Barrister web site to prepare a Judicial Review application against my local councils for me.

I paid him the entire fee in advance; big mistake. I found and believe his work to have been poor, it did not contain what I needed and was likely to fail; I have done my best without any further help from him to make it better (he declined, even though I paid for a completed job).

In particular, besides disagreeing with him regarding whether the Human Rights Act is applicable (I have found plenty of evidence that says it is), Richard Bloomfield failed to include any provision for damages (or even advise me if they would be admissible later / could be claimed in a separate civil process), any judicial Declaration or Mandatory Order as I wanted. He never read / understood my needs which I believe were abundantly clear to see in what I sent him, nor once asked me nor discussed what I wanted the Judicial Review to say / achieve in lieu.

Further, he twice made statements on key aspects of evidence which show, IMHO, he did not fully read / consider what he was sent and thereby was instructed by me; for me he lectures / presumes, not listens / asks.

I had never been inside a courtroom prior to my divorce, so been a Litigant in Person at RCJ was quite daunting. At the first FDR, I did my best against the Applicant's intimidating Barrister demanding 85% of equity, that FDR luckily was adjourned.
John Hudson of Quartz Barristers was recommended by two of his former clients. At the second FDR, the Judge listened to John's cogent argument about equality. The word 'equality' was used severally in his statements to the Judge. The Judge finally decided on 50/50 split and also said if anyone needed more equity it would be the Respondent. I'll definitely recommend John to the next person needing financial settlement.

Excellent service great knowledge and professional ability

Having always wanted to avoid going to court to deal with divorce matters, my ex-wife left me with no choice but to do so. After several bad experiences with solicitors and barristers (from different firms), I approached James Pett & John Hudson who were not only knowledgeable and intelligent in their fields, they were both very kind and understanding. Whilst others made it clear that I was just another paying client number to them, John was the complete opposite. He made me feel secure in the sense that he understood my position, whilst executing a skillful art of being laid back & wise whilst being transparent & having a no-nonsense attitude. He won't tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to. His anticipation of what the judge may say or the direction the hearing/other party may take was amazing! I was impressed by the things John picked up on, like a hawk that was locked on to his target with absolute focus and intent to fight for me.
Divorce is never going to be easy for anyone. But John's approach made it bearable. At one point my ex tried to omit exhibits from our bundle. These exhibits were (in my humble opinion) vital to the case matters as they provided evidence on many things like how my ex and her father tried to manipulate the court and hide money, as well as portrait a misleading and negative image of me. John was calm and collected and knew exactly what game my ex was trying to play and how to deal with it. In the end my exhibits ended up on the judge's desk who took 45 minutes to read through it - all because John knew how to deal with the matter in a fast and professional manner!
I was able to talk with John about my matters and most importantly, I felt comfortable enough to ask questions. Even on the day of my final financial hearing, I found myself having a conversation and laughing with John which I now understand was John's way of helping me be more relaxed and confident on an otherwise stressful day.
If you're thinking of approaching John for your own matters, please don't hesitate. You won't regret it. My only regret is I didn't approach him sooner.

Like many people going through divorce and facing FDR, this can be one of the most awful experiences of your life. John guided me through with kindness and integrity. I felt so looked after and supported and John's professional wisdom and knowledge meant that I had a very positive outcome - better than I had hoped for.

James Petts from Quartz Barrister booked in Claire Litchfield to deal with child custody and so far I’m very happy with Claire’s professionalism, knowledge and understanding. I do recommend Claire and I will use her services again.

Mr Hudson was my barrister in August 2022 for the FDR. I do not have yet the results of the Judge but I could say that you can absolutely count on Mr Johnson for the most complicated divorce. He has a lot of experience , he has the updated knowledge about the divorce law. very intelligent, he has clever advises. kind and honest and really takes care of the client’s problems. He is a real human and I am very happy to find him by this website, trustpilot. He is respectful and respects the other side as well. He spent enough time to read my files and my background and even sent all missing files and bundles to the court the day of the court ( my solicitor’s assistant has been an irresponsible person who could not transfer properly the files ). He came from far to Oxford for my court without charging me more. He spent 8 hours in the court and again no more charges ( he had supposed that it could take the whole day ). I recommend you Mr John Hudson and wish you the best in your divorce procedures.

I was recently represented by Claire Litchfield for a family court hearing and I cannot praise her highly enough. She took the time to understand my case and I felt reassured throughout that she was striving to obtain the best outcome for me. John has taken me on after my previous solicitor messed up so badly o was at risk of my ex taking everything.
In one hearing he was able to change my situation and elevate stress. His clerk is also absolute amazing, supportive and I don’t know what o would have done without them! I just wish I went with them from the beginning.

I was a litigant in person and had no experience of working with a barrister directly. However, from the initial inquiry to the actual hearing date John listened and gave considered advice about how to proceed in detail. All this was done in a very friendly and personable way which alleviated many of my fears leading up to the hearing.

OMG so we all know the whole process of divorce is far from pleasant and something i hope no one ever has to experience, I had represented myself on the first couple of meetings but it was clear that neither parties would ever be able to agree so i had no choice but to engage assistance. I reach out and spoke to John Hudson via Quartz Barristers who gave me a free 30 min consultation (actually it was longer than than) but John listened and gained a good insight to the history and also asked various questions to ensure he had a clear understanding of the issue.

The problem i had was my hearing was in 7 days, so John had to get up top speed and prepare documents before and also highlighted to myself a couple of issues i had not addressed to his liking, John want us to be fully prepared.

The day of the case as i was represented that meant that i was not allowed to speak, John of course very experienced handled the matter in a very calm and non emotional way and he delivered my side of the issue and he had already provide the Judge with a Skelton history of the case and also referred to previous cases in Law as to why we was stating various facts etc ….

Without John i don’t feel a conclusion would have been made on the day, But John allowed for this to be completed.

For me this has been going on for a few years, So much pain and hurt has been caused by both sides and lets be honest in a divorce you are never going to walk away with both sides being happy, All along i just wanted a fair resolution but the other party had other views.

But lets hope time is a great healer and moving forward both sides can rebuild there lives, But we Johns assistance that means we can start now and not in perhaps another 6 months or 2 years so a massive thank you.
