Excellent, knowledgeable, friendly service

Home mobile servicing was excellent, no travelling, no collection, the RAC mechanic was very good, thorough and helpful.

Shame it rained on him but he just carried on regardless.

Keegan visited today and was....just brilliant! A new, quality battery installed within minutes and then the car's software updated to match the battery with the vehicle electronic management suite. All done in less than half an hour, a way better experience than the one I had back in January with an 'accredited' online 'specialist' whose only skill was extracting the maximum amount of cash for a poor quality product and service. I would be more than happy to use and recommend RAC Mobile Mechanics again.

1 Star — Very disappointing experience with RAC Mobile Mechanics
I have been a longstanding RAC breakdown-service member and trusted RAC for years. This was my first time using RAC for a vehicle service, and unfortunately it has been an extremely disappointing experience.

I booked a major service for my Jaguar XF expecting the mobile mechanic to work on my driveway. Instead, I was told the work could not be carried out there and, despite my explanation that the neighbours' drives could be kept clear, my car was taken to a Tesco car park. The trainee involved even told me, in substance, that if it were up to him, he would have done the work on my driveway.

The trainee drove my car to Tesco and back and told me he personally carried out the oil and oil-filter change.

Immediately after the car was returned, I noticed a very loud rattling noise from underneath the bonnet that had not been there before the service.

RAC subsequently reattended. Their own report records:

“Rattling noise coming from underneath the bonnet after vehicle was serviced. Noise was not there before.”

Despite this, RAC concluded the issue was unrelated to their work because the noise could not be reproduced during the reattendance. No convincing technical explanation has been provided for that conclusion.

There were also other concerns: the original service record showed 0000 mileage, the service recommended replacing all discs and pads without providing measurements or supporting evidence, and RAC has not provided the exact manufacturers/part numbers for the oil and filters used.

I raised all of these issues formally. RAC's final response largely repeated conclusions rather than answering the specific questions or providing the evidence requested.

For a company I have trusted for years, this was a very disappointing first experience of using RAC for servicing. I expected much better from RAC.

Really lovely guy who came out to diagnose the problem with car - he explained everything and options. Made a quick diagnosis and was really quick to arrive. Same with the guy who fitted my battery. Both were really lovely, polite, efficient and when you are stressed over a car issue- the tonic you need to see everything was going to be fine and easily sorted. It made the whole experience so much better .

Very efficient and timely

My very first time trying this out and it looks more like fun to me. The Technician explained in detail what he wants to do in a calm and professional manner. After the servicing, I took my car for a short test drive and I enjoyed it. Will use RAC again whenever.

He was on time, efficient, worked hard, pleasant to talk to and solved the issue.

Very friendly service, got the job done quickly and knew what they were talking about.
It's really nice to not have to leave your car at a garage for a whole day.
