We wanted to give a HUGE vote of thanks to the Purley branch of Rowland Brothers.
We had the funeral yesterday for my 92 year old mother who had spent her last 15 years (with dementia) in Signature, Purley (which is an excellent home).
Jan in the shop was truly amazing, very helpful, kind and compassionate in all our conversations.
She was also helpful with the administration issues and general assistance with all our bereavement requirements.
Neil Athron is truly amazing guy and a 'Master of Ceremonies' for this special event. He is a consumate professional and a ‘Beacon of Excellence’ for Rowland Brothers.
We have sadly lost a number of our family over the last couple of years and have used R.Bros for every funeral.
Have to say their business model is excellent and they have wonderful people facilitating families needs in a very professional way and at a very difficult time.
Truly a ‘6 Star’ experience.

Having made several phone calls to local Funeral Directors as soon as I had spoken to Jan at Rowland Brothers (Purley) my mind was made up.

Rowland Brothers (Purley) recently handled the funeral of my late brother-in-law. This being the first funeral I have had to organise and the emotional time for the family nothing was too much trouble.

Our questions, concerns and thoughts were all handled with the upmost care and attention.

On the emotional day of the funeral Scott and his team offered a professional, supporting and guiding hand.

I would not hesitate to recommend or use Rowland Brothers (Purley) again.

When I die I would like Rowlands to handle my funeral and I’m not even local! Everything was done with the utmost care and understanding. Jan and Scott make the most wonderful team. Nothing was too much trouble, from being able to attend the chapel of rest out of hours to being able to sit in the hearse and even carry the coffin. To be offered such warmth at such a difficult time was a kindness I’ll not forget. Whilst I’ve luckily only had one other experience of funeral homes this surpassed my expectations from the moment I called to make enquiries. Jan was so helpful and even told me that should I decide to go elsewhere to just call her back if any advise was needed. You just don’t get customer service on that level these days. The chapel is restful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating even down to introducing me to Scott who was to be in charge on the day of the funeral so that there was a feeling of continuity. Thank you both so very much.

Rowland brothers were kind, respectful, professional, supportive and the only people I would ever trust to look after my angel baby girl. We have used them for all my grandparents funerals but most recently for my baby girl. We struggled to communicate our wishes at first because of our grief and they still helped us arrange everything exactly as we needed it. I would never use anyone else, I know my family would always be looked after with them. A special thank you to Joe from Rowland brothers for everything he has done for my family past and present and for always putting up with my hundreds of questions, never once making it seem as if I’m bothering him.

Regret the day we used this company. Nearly a whole year trying to arrange a stone for my in laws and been told lie after lie and on top of us grieving we got quote for wrong stone and tried to charge us V.A.T on the stone which already had it included in price. Communication is diabolical.

My mother had used Rowlands some years before for my father's and brother's funeral and both were fine, so we used them for my mother's funeral on the 20th July 2021 and that was a mistake.
Firstly Rowlands men asked my elder sister's permission if I could have the butterfly wreath I had made for my mum put on her coffin in front of me it was disgusting. This funeral was being paid for by the four children so why were they asking one sibling for permission.
The Friday before Rowland's had not asked her permission to accept the £1208.80 from my husband for my part payment of my mother's funeral cost.
Secondly Rowland's left the house too early so we arrived at the church much too early and everyone were left hanging around outside the church for ages which was not nice as people including myself were very upset. Finally we went into the church and the cerermony was fine.
On leaving the church Rowland's left the mourners standing outside the church again for over 25 minutes as again they informed us that the timing was wrong and we were to early to go the the cementry.
When we finally went to the cementry they stopped the cars at a grave they were digging with the digger and started to take out the wreaths and lay them on the ground the vicar also got out at this grave. My husband had to inform Rowlands men and the vicar that this was the wrong grave. To see them digging out this grave was very upsetting.
My husband had to get out of the funeral car and walk up the road with the vicar to show Rowland's men where to drive the mourner's cars to for the correct grave where my dad was buried for my mum to be laid to rest with him.
When we got to the right grave we were comfronted by a digger that we had to stand by left right near to the grave obviously waiting to fill our mum's grave in as soon as we had left, seeing this digger was very distressing. The digger could easily have been left by the cementry fence out of site not something mourners wanted to see, just people being too lazy to move it. This was something I feel Rowlands should have made sure did not happen. However, I should not have been surprised after all firstly Rowland's took us to the wrong grave that they were still digging and then they did not even know where the correct grave was until my husband showed them where my mum was to be buried.
Rowland's charged almost £5,000 for this funeral despite the fact we already had the grave as my dad was already buried their and for this amount of money MY MUM DESERVED BETTER.

We, as a family cannot thank Carly and Joe at Rowlands enough.

They both dealt with everything with great respect, compassion and knowledge.

The send off we gave my dad couldn’t have been any better and both Carly and Joe went above and beyond to ensure everything was as we asked.

Can you imagine the mammoth task of trying to repatriate the body of a loved one from Scotland to tiny Botswana in Africa, in the midst of COVID-19?? It seemed at first, an impossible task. We searched the internet for days, read several reviews, sort through several quotations, and eventually settled on Rowland Brothers International for their great reviews. I am not sure i can adequately express in words what this company did for us. First of all, their rates were very competitive compared to the ridiculous amounts we were being quoted by their competitors from the UK. Their service was excellent, Maurizio kept us informed every step of the way from the time we authorized them to take possession of our Aunt's body in Edinburgh. The body arrived well preserved and i am so happy to report that we were able to bury our Aunt in the tiny village of Mathangwane in Botswana, over the weekend, as per her wish. We would like to thank Maurizio and his team from the bottom of our hearts for the stellar job they did in repatriating our Aunt's body home. We are eternally grateful!!!!!!!!!!!

My experience with this business was positive and a very good one. They handled my mothers funeral 12 years ago professionally and when my father passed away this year they handled all the funeral arrangements with professional dignity. Staff are considerate and sensitive and had no problems with viewing and arrangements. Very professional company and staff.

Carly was brilliant in assisting me with an order of service where the actual funeral for my dearest uncle was being held out of London. Very professional standard and outstanding quantity of workmanship. All done in plenty of time for the funeral. Brilliant!

My mother past away recently and we requested a viewing at the chapel of rest but it took over a week and 5 phone calls to get the details of when and where this was going to happen they eventually gave me the info two days before, and we also requested her ashes split into two urns which cost £60 but they couldn't even get that correct, her ashes were in one bag and no urns that we had paid for. I think they are a very poorly organized company with very bad communication.

So, so impressed with how you helped in the organisation of our dad (Cecil Reid's) funeral from start to finish. Even down to ensuring that the house was safe when we leave. Can't believe how easy you made it for our family. Tracy (Taylor) you were amazing. Nothing was too small or great. What professionalism! We are so appreciative. As a result of your help and support, the day ran smoothly. The gentlemen who were present on the day were equally supportive. Our mum, especially, was treated like the queen, being waited upon at every turn. Thank you. Absolutely nothing was missed. We are happy. So glad we chose Rowland Brothers and would encourage others to do the same.
