I had a case running with them for 2 years now. They have gone into administration but i don't know if they have received my payment and not told me. I don't know where to go now.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with them for three months now, and it’s an absolute dead end. Every time you call, you get routed to a third-party answering service that takes your details and claims to raise a ticket. Those tickets go nowhere. Emails are completely ignored. The director, Sean Swimby, has been using the excuse that he’s off sick and apparently running a firm with zero backup staff to handle client work in the meantime. If you need a reliable service that actually communicates, look elsewhere. This has been a complete waste of time.

Very disappointing experience – refund still unresolved

I submitted a stamp duty refund claim on 12 January 2025 for approximately £14,835. I have been extremely disappointed with how this matter has been handled.

I understand that HMRC has processed the refund and that the money has been received by the company, yet the funds have still not been paid to me. I have been trying to get a clear explanation as to what has happened to the money and why it has not been remitted.

Given the amount involved and the length of time that has now passed, I find the situation extremely concerning. I have asked for a clear breakdown of the refund, confirmation of when the funds were received, where they are being held, and an explanation as to why I have not received the money.

I am now having to formally escalate the matter and consider referring my concerns to HMRC and seeking independent legal advice.

I would strongly recommend that anyone considering using this company carries out thorough due diligence and makes sure they fully understand how and when any refund will be paid to them.

I hope the company resolves this matter promptly and provides a satisfactory explanation.

I have had the same experience as some of the recent reviews. I made the claim with them 20 months ago. they advised that the claim would take up to 6 months. This time has passed and despite chasing them by email and telephone (waste of time no one ever answers) I have had no contact from them what so ever. I even wrote to their CEO and still no contact from them. Very disappointing

They've kept my money refunded by HMRC since June 2025 BUT KEPT QUIET ABOUT IT. In April 2026 HMRC rejected the claim of overpaid SDLT they made on my behalf, requested me to return the money and that was when I came to know SCA has received and kept this money. SCA know they need to return the money to HMRC but they don't intent to do so judging by their actions of no actiond so I am taking them to court. DON'T TRUST THEIR WORDS EVEN IN WRITING. Don't engage in business with SCA Ltd or SCA GROUP HOLDINGS LTD. They are owned by the same people SEAN SWIMBY & MARK CARROLL.

My experience with SCA Tax has been extremely disappointing.

My claim has already been processed, but I have still not received payment. Over the past several weeks I have repeatedly tried to contact the company by telephone and email to find out what is happening.
The only number I can reach is an answering service, which repeatedly tells me that my message will be passed on. Despite leaving multiple messages and sending emails, I have received no response whatsoever.
The lack of communication is unacceptable, especially when my claim has already been processed. Being ignored while waiting for payment has caused unnecessary frustration and concern.

I hope this review encourages SCA Tax to contact me promptly, explain the delay, and pay the outstanding amount that is owed.

SCA submitted a Stamp Duty Land Tax claim for one of my clients. HMRC paid out c.£12,000 to SCA initially, however subsequently HMRC reviewed the application and turned it down. My client is now being chased by HMRC for the £12,000 plus interest and SCA will not pay them the money which they received from HMRC. SCA and Mark Carroll have not replied to their emails and are still sitting on the £12,000 that rightfully belongs to HMRC. I would think very carefully before engaging with this company and Mark Carroll.

The team at SCA tax have been excellent. Great communication, professional and helpful. They did everything to keep everyone aligned in order to deliver a successful outcome.
I would highly recommend.
