I purchased Sendy expecting a modern email campaign tool that I could integrate into my workflow. Nowhere was it made clear that the entire system is PHP-based and requires self-hosting with a very specific server setup. I work in Python, and this was completely incompatible with my tech stack.
After realizing this, I tried contacting their support multiple times to request a refund, but I received no response at all. For a paid product, that’s unacceptable.
I understand digital products often come with no-refund policies, but when the product is not clearly described and becomes unusable for technical reasons that weren’t made obvious up front, a refund should be the ethical course of action.
Sadly, I can’t recommend Sendy unless you are comfortable working with PHP, managing your own server, and are okay with limited or no support.
I purchased their product along with 2 or 3 custom domains. Couldn't get the custom domains working at all.. Tried to work with their support team, even offered to pay for them to fix it for me. ...eventually they just stopped replying to my emails. Horrible customer service. Do not buy from them.
Once your payment is completed, it’s non-refundable. Support is lacking, and the setup process can be complicated. Attempting to contact them is futile, as they do not respond.
Started the service under the false notion on their website that a full refund would be issues should the service not be useful. After 2 days it because apparent that AWS was nothing going to let the account out of their 'sandbox' rendering the product completely useless. Although they refunded $69 for the product they refused to refund $79 they charged to setup a product that was never useable. Just a heads up beware of this company.
After using Sendy for more than 10 years, we gave up on the platform due to the terrible/nonexistent customer service. Their latest update would not work on our platform which is hosted by Go Daddy and Sendy made absolutely no effort to help us in any way. Apparently they are located in Singapore and their IP addresses are blocked by GoDaddy and they basically did nothing to help us get there platform working. Extremely disappointed in the customer service, terrible customer service!
Saves me a lot of money and works well for me. I have been using it for well over a year. It requires a little bit of technical knowledge to operate this product, but if you are good at that, you can't find a cheaper solution for sending marketing campaigns.
The product is good on the whole and does what it should. But the support is terrible. My post about a bug was not published in the forum. I did not receive a reply to my message to the developer and the email to the support was not answered either.
i tried sendy a few years ago, and it does as advertised and provides a mailing list solution for sending mails as cheaply as possible through amazon SES. So if this is all you care about, then sendy is probably a great product for you.
The main let down is the email/template editor, which is very very basic and lacking in features, it certainly does not compare to the likes of mailerlite, mailchimp etc. So you do need to be fairly techy in order to work around these limitations and it takes a lot more effort to create a nice email template and to test it.
It even lacks one very basic features that just about every other newsletter manager or indeed any kind of editor out there provides, which is a basic file manager and the ability to browse and insert images.
Sendy doesn't have this most basic features, or didn't last time I used it, all it allows you to do is upload an image and use it once.
So if you want to use that image again, you have to upload it again or go and copy/paste it from another newsletter. Very clunky.
I did not see any mention of this feature being added in any of the recent releases, so I contacted the developer to ask him, no reply, so I contacted him again and again and again, in fact I emailed him 7 times over the period of a month to ask if this feature had by any chance been added yet, but I received no response.
So ZERO for customer service i'm afraid.
If it had a better editor then I would definitely be more inclined to use it.
I bought the program, but literally 30 minutes later realized it wasn't the right program for me (mail lists only cost you if you have a subscriber list of over 2,000, and I was just starting to build my mailing list so would not need the program).
On the same day of purchase I sent an email asking for a refund. They never responded, and I never got a refund :(
I am going to try again, but am worried that they will use the excuse that because I'm asking again after the 30 days, they won't refund it...even though the first time I asked was on the same day of purchase.
I feel sad because it is a lot of money that just went to them even though I have never used their program, and they didn't bother to reply to my request for a refund :(
Sendy seems to be understaffed. You won't be able to get a support agent on the line and they only send generic email responses. Unfortunately, we are leaving Sendy due to the non-existent support.
No refund! No Answer!
We were unable to get amazon access and requested refund 4 days after purchase via e-mail, it been 15 days and no one responding!
Sendy has literally saved me tens of thousands in email marketing over the past year. Constant updates by Ben and could not be more grateful. Thanks a bunch.
I've been using Sendy for more than 5 years. Basic, but gets the job done with no fuss.
One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. There is no customer service or tutorials. Their forum has information they refer you to that is 6 years old. When trying to ask for help you either get no response or get an email that does't provide any real help. Definitely would NOT recommend this company to anyone.
This company is very manipulative and sneaky when it come to recruiting people and forcing free labor upon unsuspecting people. Others should beware of Sendy for employment
Made me pay for a required upgrade again even though I paid initially with a promised "One Lifetime Fee". Also support was rude and not too helpful.
Great Tool. One of the best self hosted tool for Email Marketing.
In summary, it looks to be a great product and I am very disappointed that the owner has effectively blocked my use with no explanation or reponse and blocked acccess to the user forum, by not allowing new legitimate posts through moderation.
Prior to purchase I had alot of questions about the product and the support agent / owner responded promptly, politely and with patience, so I decided after alot of deliberation to purchase the product.
On the 24th August @ 17:57 I went ahead and purchased the product.
25th August at 21.25 I registed on their forum and was excited about configuring my purchase I asked some basic questions about Content Security Policy (CSP) which serves as a strong mitigation against cross-site scripting attacks as well as fail2ban which blocks unwanted repeated logins.
Those first posts needed moderation which is supposed to take a maximum of 48hrs for approval, it is 13 days and counting with no approval.
Over the next days I sent emails to @Ben in order to understand why my posts still had not been released.
To date I have had no reply....13 days...no explanation or reply
After still no response to my emails I requested a refund under the 30 days return policy.
Now after a few more days I have had no reply.
To try to understand if this was a small business and they were just busy, we had others email for a sales enquiry.
We had a response from @Ben within 2 hours.
Overall the product looks great but the actions of the owner amount to locking me out of a purchased product support, as I get no emails and no way of getting that promised 30 day refund.
I truly wanted to like this product but the actions of the owner have left me only distrust them and feel the need to warn others that may be in the same situation as myself.
