I had never heard of this before but decided to try it with my first reservation at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island since I knew that the May weather could be iffy. And it was. The insurance came through. The quickness and ease of the payout totally surprised me. I was getting emails about the weather during the day and finally it came through. I have told all my friends about it. Reasonably priced and a good thing to have.

Sensible weather was a great way to ensure that we either had good weather to embark on outdoor activities during our vacation or we saved some of the cost. Adding this to ur campsite reservations was super easy too!

We booked our trip to New Orleans and it offered us the weather guarantee but we declined it. Then we got to looking at the weather and decided to go back and get it because the weather for the week was looking pretty poor. Best decision! I recommend getting the protection when you book your trips. It will be worth the investment. It paid 2 days of our trip and we used the funds to go out a couple extra nights for dinner. Great service offering! Proactive following of the weather and determining when the weather impacted our travel. We were so impressed! Excellent customer service.

I would not recommend this company.
1) They say they give you peace of mind. They do not pay the nightly rate at a KOA campground. They give you a prorated rate, 30% less than the nightly rate. My nightly rate was 51.00 and they offered me 21.00. Then up it to 42. Again, less than I paid. I paid 26.00 for the 171.00 3-night bill - almost 20%
2) They do not credit you back on the credit card you paid on; they want your bank account number or PayPal. Paypal has many fraud issues, and why would you give them acess to your bank account info.

They do not care, and it is a rip off.

The product wasn't utilized, but it excelled in delivering daily updates. Having it provided reassurance that financial losses due to weather interference would be reimbursed. It proved to be a worthwhile investment, and I would consider utilizing it again.

Liked the insurance of being able to camp without the worry of rain.

Waste of money. It literally rained all day and 50 degrees. The 1.5mm of rain isn't total. It has to rain for 5 plus hours and 1.5mm per hour. Over a 1/2 inch a rain an hour. Enjoy my money...scammers.

We will never use this again and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know it’s a scam! We had heavy rain showers for most of our trip and were stuck inside. We were able to enjoy 3 total hours outside of our camper. One of which was in the dark. I checked the USGS website and they showed over 3.2 inches of rain in less than 48 hours but because some of those hours were heavy (over 0.06 inches) and some were slightly less we didn’t qualify. Most of that rain was in the 8a-8p window. Save your money, people and buy a board game to use while you’re stuck inside instead!

Update 5/27/26. Sensible Weather reached out to me and reviewed my case. They did provide a pay-out for the day that seemed to qualify. I'm upgrading to 3 stars due to their fair-minded customer service.

My earlier review:
We camped at Natural Bridge KOA from May 22–25 and experienced rain on multiple days. According to Weather.com, there was rain throughout much of May 22, 23, and 25. To be fair, there were occasional breaks in the weather, but it was still surprising that the conditions apparently did not meet the minimum rainfall threshold for reimbursement.

My takeaway is that this coverage seems designed more for severe weather events than for ordinary rainy camping trips. I would only recommend purchasing it if you’re traveling during a season or in an area where major storms are likely.

So glad we had this coverage. They checked weather conditions every day . We had one very rainy and snowy day which was very disappointing. Sensible Weather took care of us, it was an easy process.

Loved the consistent updates to the weather. Turned out weather was great so didn't "use" the service.

First, I didn’t know Sensible Weather was available when I booked my last stay so I signed up for it and received daily notifications of weather forecast and was for reimbursed for 2 rain days. I would highly recommend using sensible weather for your next camping excursion.

My experience with Sensible Weather was outstanding! While on vacation, one of the days qualified for reimbursement and I had a text message and email with reimbursement link before I even woke up. Sensible Weather upheld their standards and couldn’t have made the compensation any easier. In the future, anytime I am given the opportunity to purchase Sensible Weather insurance, I will do it every time.
