Restricted access to storage unit

When I got there I couldn't fit my items into the unit because there was a low hanging light block. I requested to change my unit and I paid for a bigger space but they would not honour the initial offer which is ridiculous. Instead they took money out of my account without me agreeing to it. There were also rats running around everywhere which was nasty. When I spoke to someone they didn't want to listen and said a manager would call me back. They never did and instead took money from my account.

Also a huge shout out for the team who i spoke to on the phone who was able to assist me last minute i am truly grateful. It has been a amazing and easy process to get into a unit from start to finish the paperwork is very simple if you provide what has been requested and the ladies at the Harrow branch are very proficient, i would highly recommend these locations.

The website was easy to use, the site was clean and tidy. Our unit was ready with the requested padlock when we went to use it.

Great deal on a temp storage unit whilst we undertake a house clearance. Easy access. Only shortcoming would be that the unit is at high level meaning use of a moveable staircase required to access which also means boxes etc have to be lugged up said stairs. I don’t think I had option to select ground floor unit but possibly missed that option.

Great facilities once found - lack of directions to storage room within the building. Office never seems to be open.

Staff communication and helpfulness is one of the reasons I choose Shurgard.
I also like the look of their storage facilities.
Their units, floors and buildings are clean.

Asked me vacate in 48 hours as their units had vermin. I did manage to vacate with great difficulty. But did not return my advance rent paid. Instead another £50 charge sent through debt collector. I must paid them more them £10000 over the last 2 years But absolute fraudsters at their back office, won't return my advance rent paid and now sent debt collection notice for £50 . I will report to authorities but worst experience by fraudsters they employ in the back office. I must admit people in front office at the location were polite and helpful but their back office on telephone so rude, abusive. And committed fraud to keep my advance rent paid when I already vacated when asked. Avoid these rude and abusive, thieves and fraudsters at any cost . No shortage of storage space, All the money they spend on advertising but don't care their back office in UK is full fraudsters, thieves and liars.

Good easy access to storage unit but insuring the contents was quite inconvenient as I chose my own cover (a one off payment of £14 with Surewise rather than £18 per month with Shurgard's own cover). In order to opt out of Shurgard's cover, I had to go into the Harrow branch to sign papers and request a refund as they don't offer the option to opt out of their own cover on website when signing up for the storage unit. This could definitely be avoided by a simple change on the website. Also, initial email instructions directing me to the unit were incorrect, telling me to go to the wrong floor level in the building.

On arriving at branch I had the pleasure in meeting Samuel he was so professional and generally a really helpful human being went out of his way to show and help me get the most out of my storage unit the unit was clean and at first I thought it was an error on my part and a little small but he said it would be fine and it was so easy to use and access rates are very reasonable so very pleased that I booked the unit highly recommended shut guard for your storage needs will be using them at every opportunity now

Sam was Amazing! He explained everything we needed to know and answered every question we asked. Absolutely 💯 Customer Service. Great prices with quality storage for our belongings. Would recommend to anyone.

When we arrived at the location in Bushey, a guy called Sam greeted us! Very refreshing to speak to such a friendly guy who put me at ease and let me upgrade to a bigger unit with no issues! Thanks Sam you are awesome!

Really helpful and hassle free

If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely useless. Booked a 50sq ft unit but it absolutely isn’t that big (length and width) and is 3ft shorter than advertised. No one to speak to at store yesterday to resolve (even though email signature says they have office hours on Sundays). Called customer services and was advised to not put anything in unit until resolved and that someone would call me first thing today. They didn’t, so I called them. Told there’s a 70sq ft unit that’s similar price and to drive down and manager will transfer me over. Drove down and now told there is no 70, but there’s an 80sq ft for £50-60 a month more. Manager gave me a generic email to complain but no guarantee that they’ll call back. I called main number yet again and now I’ve been told to take another unit for a month then move all my stuff again into a different unit, for still much more than planned per month. So I’m still totally stuck. Taken day off work to resolve this. Given loads of conflicting and misinformation. I need to get my stuff moved ASAP but have nowhere suitable to move it to. Left me totally stranded, just awful.

I only usually write reviews when I have really good or really bad experiences with companies ect. My experience here was outstanding. I was in real urgent need of storage for my business as my office was closing. Sam at Shurgard really broke down my options clearly and understood the fact that I was in a rush to resolve my issue. He really went above and beyond to help and I am eternally grateful for how useful, polite and knowledgeable he was. Customer service 10/10!
