Andy and Ian did a great job on my old battered windows and were careful not to create too much disruption during the work. I now have 3 beautifully functioning restored sash windows.

We did a lot of research and had other quotes before we asked Andy Hiley (Sliding Sash Windows) to carry out what we knew was quite an undertaking; virtually every sash and casement window in the house and several doors were in various states of disrepair. Our home is Grade 2 listed an in a Conservation Area so we were anxious to find someone who was used to working with traditional buildings to restore wherever possible and replace only where absolutely necessary. The level of detail Andy provided in his quote was such that we knew he was the man for the job and we were proved right.

We were here all the time the work was being carried out so were able to see how Andy and his colleague, Rob, operated. Their work ethic is impressive and it was clear they had real knowledge and, importantly, respect for the centuries’ old windows. For example, when Andy uncovered a particularly unusual joint the original craftsman has made, he stopped work so he could show it to us before going on to fashion an exact replica. Whilst this demonstrates his level of craftsmanship, what we found more remarkable was that he took the trouble to do this even though, once reassembled, it wouldn’t be seen.

In addition, the materials used were superior to anything we’ve had before so this time we have the luxury of knowing the repairs will last.

I was sorry not to have written this review directly after the work was complete but this oversight has allowed me to comment on their after sales service. We had a problem with a door suddenly sticking after some months and, knowing how much work they have on at any given time, we were genuinely surprised (and, of course, pleased) when Rob came to fix it in just two days after we emailed.

This leads into literally the only thing that we could find to criticize. Andy would always respond to emails but sometimes, due to pressure of work, would take a while to do so. He is always so busy – a victim of his own success! Don’t let this put you off; Andy and Rob (and on one occasion a third colleague) are genuinely nice people and it was a pleasure to have them around.

Andy Hiley’s name was passed on to us by friends who were extremely pleased with his work on their listed property and now it gives us great pleasure in recommending him to others.

Sliding Sash Solutions replaced the sashes on my listed property in a conservation area in Brighton. Fitting double-glazed panes within the parameters set down by my application didn't make the job straightforward. Andy and his team delivered within the quoted price, on time, and to a high standard. My tenant has reported that the flat is now a much nicer place to live, draft-free, with reduced exterior noise. I'm sure that energy bills will reduce accordingly.

SSS were very good to work with - Sam did a wonderful job on the windows, and went the extra mile ordering a bespoke fitting to be couriered to him in order to complete the work on time. Despite it being a messy job, they worked very tidily, and we appreciated their thoughtfulness.

The work that was completed was to a high standard and we are extremely happy - we have now also booked for the rest of our windows to be repaired also...

What a pleasure to have real professionals. Not only did Sam and Aaron do a brilliant job on my severely neglected sash windows but their customer service is also great and that is hard to find. The windows look fantastic and actually open and close easily. Would highly recommend them.

I contacted Sliding Sash Solutions after receiving a flyer through the door. The communication from initial contact through to completion of the replacement of 7 Victorian sash windows cannot be faulted. The work that Sam and Aaron completed was done swiftly, cleanly and with minimum disruption (as we work from home so had to work around us!) Sam provided us with advice throughout the process and helped to quickly resolve an issue with one of the windows to ensure we had the best quality product. Can’t thank them enough for the excellent work they’ve done on making our house so much warmer and quieter!

Another excellent job by Sam Warne. Large bay windows, with unusually shaped frames were replicated and fit perfectly.

The guys came as promised. They completed the work when they said they would. They worked cleanly and efficiently without disturbing us. The job was completed to a very high standard and I couldn’t be happier with the finished job.

Highly experienced craftsman evaluated windows in our Grade 1 listed farmhouse. Excellent advice given and options discussed. Then he repaired and replaced neglected sash windows which were in very poor condition. We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend his work. We look forward to him returning to work on the rest of the windows.
