When your life insurance policy is paid out, it would normally go through probate and, if it goes into you legal estate, may be subject to inheritance tax. By putting your life insurance policy into trust, the money will be paid directly to the beneficiaries which usually avoids the probate process and IHT calculation.

Pushy sales and refusal to cancel
Horrendous service - took out a policy with them wasn't given alternative options so the monthly payment was increased without my say, only found when my direct debit went out. Phoned to cancel, was on the phone for 15 minutes to someone trying to sell me a new policy which I wasn't interested in.
The following day I then received another call from them trying to sell me further cover. I advised to the agent I wasn't happy with the level of service and have found another policy far cheaper. They were refusing to take no for an answer and kept hounding me. Wouldn't recommend

We’d like to clarify that the increase to your premium was due to an indexation option that was selected when the policy was taken out in 2022. This option allows your cover to grow in line with inflation, and while the feature itself is free, any increase in cover will naturally adjust the premium. You should have received prior notification from the insurer (Vitality) before this change took effect, with the option to decline the increase and keep your policy as it was.
We’ve been trying to speak with you to better understand what went wrong and explore a suitable alternative if helpful. I’ve now sent a link requesting further details so we can investigate this thoroughly and ensure any concerns are addressed.
Apologies again if this wasn’t fully explained at the time. We genuinely want to resolve this and improve from your feedback.
