I have been trying all the OCR Music demo's for some time and after seeing Soundslice purchased a years Licence. It is in my opinion the best on the market. The real clincher for me was its ability to read the Old Style Bass C Clef (Not the Viola style) which it did with no issues. As with all the OCR Music scanning the image is vital but this software coped with a variety of different Scans / JPegs. While some editing was required I found that fairly intuitive and with the help of the Google search engine's A.I. capability could quickly find solutions for questions without trudging through a help section or manual. With a few more pieces of Music I am sure I will speed up the process once the shortcuts have been learned.
As with many comments on here I have to disagree with customer service criticisms as I got a response withing 15 minutes and all was sorted (I may have been lucky of course)
Regarding other criticisms from a few years ago they may be justified at that point in time but the ongoing improvements to the software in my opinion have made it first choice especially considering the fair pricing. I just hope they don't get greedy and start getting people over a barrel, but if they do that I will review costs annually as other companies may well catch up with the technology and give consumers a wider chose. At this point in time I would highly recommend giving Soundslice a try. It's certainly worked for me.

These guys have zero customer service skills, and have caused a massive amount of wasted time for thousands of people.

They make it look like you will be able to try their app and be able to upload the music you want transcribed, but after convincing you to create an account to do this, you are notified that you need to upgrade before you can upload music. There are no countries in existence where that will be deemed a free trial.

I had difficulty learning how to use the Soundslice programme, which I had just bought. I sent in my query and instead of "your questions has been received, we will reply with 24 hours", received an immediate reply and found that my problem was down to my own operator error. Excellent! I have now achieved my goal of getting my computer to accurately playback sheet music I had scanned.

I have a paid yearly subscription since two or three years and can say, that I'm extremely happy with reliability, functionality and support ever since. Some of the negative comments here seem to originate from people who didn't bother to learn how to use the app. One user, who appears to be a professional musician suggests an alternative application, which I can't argue - I'm not a professional, but have 55 uninterrupted years of instrument experience and for me Soundslice is perfect.

The only good part is how many instruments they have.
The actual software is annoying, if you want to play a note you have to press a key letter (Like if I want to play an E, I have to press the 'e' key on my keyboard), which it will just place in a random spot of that letter (If I wanted it to be a E4 it might put it as an E5 or E6, making you have to press the keys down the scale until you get the note you want). And sometimes it will just delete your progress! And you might think saving will help? no! It just auto-resaves it. and if you want to undo the mistake you cant unless you pay for one of the premium options! And if you like to spend time making long compositions, then it will happen a lot! And its mentally draining!

I spent hours composing music and have to manually save it (you have to pay in order to auto-save) just for all of my hard work to disappear. I tried undoing it/redoing it, I tried everything to get all the composition I did back, and I was still unable to get it back. Such a waste of my time. I’m very upset.

Despite their claims, this doesn’t work AT ALL on ipad/Safari. Can’t comment on other devices/browsers… but they claim it works on anything via a browser. Clearly it does not. As soon as you try and use it, up pops an error message “sorry you encountered an editor bug, please reload the page“. What a waste of time. Glad I didn’t waste money upgrading it to the paid version!!!

So far I have been happy with it. Great to create a practice charts for my music students. And there are a lot of free resources on the page for music students as well as for advanced players.

There is no 24/7 chat, only email. Few hours or 1-2 days until they write. In this the lack of chat makes this company 0%. The support is abusive and too emotional.

The sound quality is absolutely poor, the sound samples are very weak.

Verdict

MusicXML is an old problem that Soundslice has not solved to date.

Now I have a pedal, but it doesn't sound when playing and it's difficult to enter the pedal signal.

PDF export is horribly weak, no options for any kind of settings.

Sound quality is terrible.

Reporting has problems with LOOP.

For notes, the software cannot display the octave number.

Problems in the score when changing the modifier sign.

Expensive, no talk of free or cheap package.

Soundslice is for hobbyists who can't read music. Because the software is bad, it does not help beginners, but rather hinders them. I do not recommend the Soundslice software at all, because it teaches the wrong things.
