I did a background check through care.com. When it came to the Motor Vehicle one, it came back "unperformable". The wrong last name was used after I was asked to send a copy of my DL. I had to get my own Motor Vehicle abstract. Bad experience.
Pathetic service
Pathetic service . I have never seen such website where they assume that you submit document which is never asked and once you make payment, they will fail your BGC for the document which was never asked . How can some organisation be so pathetic. Their should be option of negative rating for these kind of bin .

I am the person that will give Sterling answers to the verification on employees. Sterling hires people from other countries that speak very poor English. I value my time but it wasted while I have to listen to a message 10 times or more to try and understand it. Please, if you are a company requesting employment verification find an American based company or call yourself!
Job offer rescinded due to Sterling background check delay
I completed my background information on Feb 9th, it is now Mar 9th and my report still isn't completed. The job for which I have applied has rescinded the offer and I have a clean background.

Got charged a $540.00 maintenance fee for what? We have not ever been charged that in the past and just paid for services rendered. Now they have disabled my account, and I have no access to previously paid for services.
On top of that, when you call the barely able to speak English, customer service they transfer you back and forth between departments until you hang up. Absolutely horrible service!!!!!

So upon receiving an email from my employer I went ahead to complete my background check, I've uploaded my passport and then it asked me for a face scan which I attempted 3 times. My passport photo is identical to how I look now but the system failed so then my background check was put on a hold. It's been in hold for over a week and I've attempted to contact Sterling (first advantage) and also my employer to sort it out and issue a new background check OR reset my current one. They keep trying to pass the blame and saying it's been escalated but nothing has been done and I'll be put offline and unable to work tomorrow if this is not fixed or resolved. Utterly useless
Avoid this company
They fail my background check because right ID not given at the time. they could have asked me but they send the report order to client for ID not verify. How unbother and unresponsible this company is.
Horrible business
Horrible business! They took over 2 months to run my report and NO ONE is based in the USA. All overseas people who can barely speak any english at all. Totally disorganized and a shady business. Shame on this place! I would highly stay away from here. They are horrid and a nightmare to deal with.

1 star. I experienced an extremely prolonged and mishandled background check process that lasted months, with repeated timeline extensions and inconsistent communication. I was repeatedly told the delay was due to a court records check, even though the Virginia State Police confirmed multiple times that everything was complete. The lack of urgency and accountability caused significant financial hardship and ultimately contributed to the loss of the job opportunity. This process was unacceptable.
Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Sterling Backcheck
This company was horrible, coming back to me multiple times for info that every single other background check service did in the background.
Worst part? They said my background check failed "on the client's end" like that means something. I've NEVER failed a background check before, and checking Reddit, there's plenty of people coming out to say this company is a NIGHTMARE.
I'm exercising my FACT Act rights and receiving my completed background check for myself ((you have to ask the AI (!) chatbot for it)) but these people are the worst bunch of mishandling idiots in the background checking world. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. you SUCK, SHANKARA
Worst service ever!
I have turned 18 not too long ago, and all the dbs checks are hard to do at this time meaning I need the support. When I called the support line the worker was very very rude and wanted to end the conversation as soon as possible and she was not patient with me. The worker also couldn’t understand the words I am saying and showing signs of not wanting to speak or even work. Did not get help with my issue and did not get any assistance what so ever!
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Paid the money and then they told me they could not complete my application and I needed to go to police station and get a list of convictions and report and get them the info . lol so they can give it back to me.

FADV unable to complete timely background check for State of Ohio
While attempting to complete a background check, FirstAdvantage-Sterling has taken over a month to complete their investigation for the State of Ohio and Butler County, OH.
After numerous attempts to get background check escalated, I had to do the leg work (via phone) to provide them with phone numbers to Butler County and its Municipalities.
Once that was sent to them via email; they then turned around and said they couldn’t complete the State of Ohio.
The result of their delay has caused me to experience eviction from my residence because I was unable to give a reliable answer as to when I would begin work due to their inability to conduct/complete their background investigation.

I would give 0 stars if I could. This is the second time I’ve had to deal with this nightmare company, first time was early this year and I lost a job because of them. I was offered a job at a national company in a call center, Sterling background check took 34 days to complete. By the time the check came back the company had rescinded the offer and wrote me off basically. Now fast forward to November of this year, filled out paperwork for a background check on the 10th, now at 38 days with no response, called them today and they tell me January 2nd now, like 56 days or so to complete. I’m sure this offer will be rescinded also. For comparison, I also work part time for an airline, had to have 3 separate background checks (airline, airport, and TSA (FBI background)) and those all were back within a week. Sterling is a horrible company and should be shut down, First Advantage should have never bought them!

That was exasperated by banking and being a victim of online fraud plus being hung up on by sterling for ko reason and no call back from them .they was racist to me to .To close my account on these circumstances is a violation . I wish to rise as a complaint because I feel this is discrimination. I have the mental age of a teenager as explained to me by doctors. Your additional support was way to inadequate. I should not be punished for your failling s or short fall s . So this is a fresh complaint. I am deeply sorry for what I said but I was having an episode along with a mental breakdown. To say you support people struggling with mental health is a big lie

Services are slower than every other service provider in the industry. Customer service are just call centers with limited information. Cannot reach anyone with any real information. IF A COMPANY HAS THIS AS THEIR SERVICE PROVIDER RUN! These people are not the way to go!
