Ordered a set of Katarna's from this company and told they would be delivered from their UK warehouse. Once I received them it turned out they had sent me the wrong set of blades. After speaking to them via email which takes a few days to receive a response each time they advised me to return the items to them for a refund. HOWEVER, they wanted the items returning to an address in JAPAN. This would involve customs and excessive postage costs, why could I not return them to the UK warehouse they supposedly came from?
After speaking to them a few time they decided to send me the correct Saya's for the blades but I've still; yet to receive them after 11 days so far and it's been 5 weeks over since my original order.

I raised a case with Paypal regarding this and the company has advised Paypal that if I return the blades at MY costs, they will refund me, but this time they want the blades returning to an address in the USA. Again it will cost alot and have to deal with customs to return an item at my cost because this company sent me the wrong items.

Also the quality of the blades if nothing special and you could probably get similar from AliExpress or Amazon. Don't waste your time with this company, if you have any issues, you'll regret it!

I honestly couldn’t be more disappointed with my experience with Masamune Swords.

I ordered a Handmade Japanese Samurai Sword Red Folded Steel Katana Sword, spending nearly £200, expecting to receive the item I had actually paid for. Instead, I received a completely different sword that wasn’t even remotely similar to the one I ordered, including a different colour. To make matters worse, the blade arrived with rust on it and was blunt.

Mistakes can happen, but it’s how a company handles them that really matters. Unfortunately, the customer service has been absolutely shocking. When I contacted them to resolve the issue and request a refund, the only solution offered was to send me a free whetstone. Seriously? I’ve spent nearly £200 on an item that isn’t what I ordered, and a free whetstone is supposed to make everything right?

Now, I’m being ignored, with no proper resolution, no refund, and stuck with a sword I never wanted in the first place.

The fact that I paid nearly £200 for an item that arrived in this condition, was completely different from the product advertised, and has been followed by such appalling customer service is unacceptable.

Thankfully, I bought it at a discounted price, but that doesn’t excuse the way this has been handled. A discount doesn’t mean a customer should receive the wrong product and then struggle to get any meaningful help when things go wrong.

Based on my personal experience, I would seriously think twice before ordering from Masamune Swords. The product itself was disappointing enough, but the lack of customer support when trying to resolve the issue has made the whole experience considerably worse.

I paid for a specific sword, not a completely different one, and I expected far better service for my money. Avoiding a problem in the first place is ideal, but dealing with it properly when it happens is the bare minimum.

Terrible company. Rip off customers and never reply to emails. Now facing trading standards and fraud charges

I would like to say after 3 months of emails I finally got an email saying it was with DPD UK so I rang them up and it was there as they said the reason why I did not receive my sword they put the wrong postcode on my address DPD corrected this for me and I'm waiting for my package to be delivered in 2 days also as a sorry for the trouble they also give me a free gift with my refund. I think they need more help with there customer service department but I am thankful for the free stand and money bk

After ordering I was told it was out of stock. I waited as they requested. They claim that they ship from UK depot and that they are legal under UK law. After many emails and excuses, I asked for my money back. I then received a letter from Customs saying that a sword with my address delivered from China! has been intercepted and that legal proceedings are in action with a 10 year prison term possible. I have since had Police call at my home in conection with this matter. DO Not trust these people.

Excellent sword, razor sharp full tang, good for wielding or just for show, took just over a week to arrive, I had to message to get the tracking but response was fast. Very happy customer

Just taken delivery of Katana, eleven days from placing order, it’s exactly as advertised and I’m very happy with it.
Only worry was lack of communication, tracking did not work hence only four stars.

I purchased a Katana from swordforsale (Masamune) I ordered it on the 20th of March it was delivered today 27th of March. Wow what a beautiful sword far exceeded my expectations, Amazing. It was well packaged even came with a cloth bag to keep it in, the blade was lightly oiled. Highly recommend this company. I must admit I was dubious after reading some of the reviews, totally unfounded.

I put in an order for parts a month and half ago at the time of this review and have yet to receive an email with a tracking number. I would give 0 stars if I could, Completely unprofessional. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY ITS A SCAM.

i ordered my sword on 21 nov 2025 it came on 4th dec 25 , then read reviews so got worried so about a week i emailed them i got a reply which said dly 7 to 10 days , it actually came a few days early sword is great really pleased it would give piece of mind if they gave tracking numbers but i would by from this supplier again

I ordered 2 swords without reading any reviews. After some thought I decided to check them out and was horrified and immediately worried I may have been scammed.
Then I was very pleasantly surprised when both swords turned up within 5 days of me ordering, bearing in mind I ordered on a Saturday night. I opened up the well packaged swords and I am very pleased with the quality and condition on both pieces.
There was not much in the way of shipping updates but ultimately I am verry happy with my new swords and the timeframe for delivery was much better than expected.
I would definitely recommend this company and will use them again.

As other reviews have said, you receive zero communications back from this company. I ordered a sword from them a couple of years ago with no hassle and quality is amazing.
I decided to order another two for display but only one arrived and was shipped from France.
Quality is lower than my original and no sigh of the second or any communication from this company.
I will be contacting my credit card company for a refund.

Hi.So definitely not a scam. Yes the tracking number doesn't work, yes they don't communicate with you but after 9 business days the product arrived (and it's amazing->big demon slayer fan and orderer Sanemi Shinazugawa sword ).

I ordered my sword on the 03/04/25. The tracking info through the "shop" app was a little sketchy stating my item had been delivered when it hadn't. This had me a little concerned. I started sending emails to both addresses asking about my order...no response to anything, as stated in multiple reviews on here! Then I looked up the company on trustpilot and a barrage of bad reviews confirmed my worst fears...Scammers alert!! I immediately contact paypal to raise a dispute...dispute raised and sent of to the company. Just as I clicked send, the door bell goes!!....courier stood at the door with my sword!! Exactly 8 days after ordering it. ..Doh!! It is a magnificent looking item just as in the picture and as described... more than happy. Apologies sent and dispute closed. I would have given 5 stars if they responded...even a courteous automated response! Communication lets them down!!

I received my Katana today, but there are a few issues, the Katana/Saya do not exactly match the photos.

1. The Hamon is much smaller than shown, but it is there in the light at angles.
2. The Saya has a tree and a bird, not the Dragon as shown in the one on the website.
3. The brass fitting on the blade is different, its the blacked out web style one, not a plain one as in photo.
4. The Iron handguard is glossy and not gold brushed and matte like in the photos.

The blade looks really nice, but the tip has a slight bend on the very very end and there are TWO small chips in the blade near the tip. this should not have passed QC for £300

Not only this their communication is almost non existent with only one reply to the many emails over the past 1-2 weeks, they really need to have someone full time work on customer support...

Absolutely disgusted with this fake company, bought a sword months ago to make sure it arrived in time as a birthday present I emailed constantly to see where my order was but never got a reply so found a phone number which surprise surprise was fake! I’ve continued to email with no joy at all. The sword cost me £150 in total I can’t believe I’ve wasted that much money on these idiots! My advice would be don’t waste your money on these fraudulent idiots!

I am extremely dissatisfied with my recent purchase. The sword I received significantly deviates from the product I viewed and purchased online. The sheath/Saya is grossly oversized for the blade, resulting in poor fit and an unsettling rattling noise with every movement. This constitutes a complete failure and a severe disappointment. I will not consider purchasing from your company again. Most dishearteningly, this experience has irrevocably tarnished the romantic ideal of the honor associated with Japanese swordsmithing, which I held dear.

This place is legit i just got mine the day and its more than i expect well happy with it.thanls guys and keep up the good work

Not UK legal !
Do not buy from here in the UK. They say there swords are hand made but I have a forensic police report saying they are not.
I sent this report to them twice and they never emailed back. They know they are lying to you and you would not believe the trouble you could be in if your found with one of there swords

A beautiful sword arrived well packaged and in good time. Terrible communication though and no tracking info. I don't think this is a scam or a dodgy company, just a 'not very competent one' they can and do make beautiful samurai swords though
