We are sorry that the insurance conditions caused you concern during the rental. We would therefore like to clarify that all our vehicles are comprehensively insured as standard, including coverage for accidental damage, theft, vandalism and other insured events.

The amount discussed during collection was not the cost of uninsured damage, but the applicable deductible—the renter’s maximum financial responsibility in the event of a covered claim. A deductible under comprehensive motor insurance is standard practice in the Czech Republic.

A reduced or zero deductible is an optional additional protection product and is not automatically included in the standard rental price. We understand that insurance terminology can be interpreted differently, particularly because the meaning of “fully comprehensive insurance” varies between countries. In this case, it appears that comprehensive insurance was understood to mean insurance with no deductible. These are, however, two separate matters: our vehicles are comprehensively insured, while reducing or removing the deductible requires optional additional protection.

This structure is intended to avoid automatically charging every customer for deductible protection they may not need. Most customers already have separate deductible reimbursement coverage through their travel insurance, credit card or another third-party policy. Our standard deductible is only CZK 10,000, which is relatively low and falls within the limits of most such policies, depending on their individual terms and exclusions. This allows customers who already have suitable coverage to avoid paying twice for the same protection and therefore save a considerable amount on their rental.

We regret that this distinction was not sufficiently clear to you before the rental. We will take your feedback into account and review how we can explain the difference between comprehensive insurance and optional deductible reduction even more clearly to international customers.

Agradecemos sus comentarios. Aunque siempre lamentamos que un cliente quede insatisfecho, debemos rechazar categóricamente la afirmación de que esta situación se deba a una falta de transparencia o a una práctica abusiva.

La transparencia y la equidad son los pilares de nuestro servicio. Por ello, le proporcionamos pruebas fotográficas exhaustivas con fecha y hora, tomadas inmediatamente antes de su alquiler y justo a la devolución. Usted alquiló un vehículo Škoda Karoq prácticamente nuevo, con solo 5,000 km en el odómetro. El daño en cuestión no era un "microrrayado cosmético", sino tres hendiduras profundas en el parachoques que requieren un repintado completo de toda la pieza para devolver el vehículo a su estado original.

Queremos destacar que el coste oficial de dicha reparación, según el presupuesto documentado que le hemos enviado, asciende a 16 000 CZK. A pesar de que el daño real supera con creces esa cantidad, nosotros le cobramos estrictamente la franquicia pactada contractualmente (spoluúčast) de 10,000 CZK (aprox. 410 €) que usted misma eligió al alquilar, sin añadir ningún tipo de coste administrativo adicional.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. While we always regret when a customer leaves dissatisfied, we must firmly reject the claim that this situation was a "scam."

Transparency and fairness are core pillars of our service, which is why we provided you with comprehensive, time-stamped photographic evidence of the vehicle both immediately before your rental and directly upon return. You rented a brand-new Škoda Karoq with only 5,000 km on the odometer. The damage in question was not a "minor scratch," but three deep, distinct gouges requiring a complete repaint of the entire bumper to restore this new vehicle to its original condition.

While many car rental companies in the Czech Republic might use such an incident to charge numerous additional fees and maximize the cost, we strictly charged you only the contractually agreed deductible (spoluúčast) that you chose when renting, and absolutely nothing more.

We always stand by our transparent terms and professional approach, and we remain fully available if you wish to review the contractual terms or the photographic evidence once again.

We are sorry that you were not satisfied with the damage settlement. However, we must respectfully clarify that the vehicle was returned with new damage to the lower edge of the front bumper, which was not present at the time of handover.

The vehicle was inspected and documented before and after the rental. After receiving your objection, we also carried out an additional internal review of the case. Based on the documentation, the location and the length of the damage, we confirm that the charge was calculated correctly, fairly and in accordance with the agreed rental terms.

The damage was located on the lower edge of the front bumper and was not just a tiny cosmetic mark. Its character and position correspond to damage caused during the use of the vehicle, typically by contact with a kerb, ramp, parking barrier or similar obstacle.

We understand that the damage may appear minor from a client’s perspective, but rental vehicle damage cannot be assessed only by assuming that it can be fixed with a touch-up pen. The assessment must reflect the actual extent and location of the damage, the required repair process, and the impact on the vehicle’s value and further rental use.

We also want to clarify that the insurance conditions and deductibles were part of the rental terms accepted before the vehicle was handed over.

Our goal is never to charge clients unfairly. At the same time, we must apply the same documented and transparent process when a vehicle is returned with new damage.

Dear Mrs. Kavounovski,
we are sorry that you perceive the situation this way, but we must respectfully disagree with your statement.

In your case, the vehicle was returned with three damaged alloy wheels and without the agreed fuel level, even though it was handed over to you with a full tank. The condition of the vehicle was properly documented, compared with the handover records, and the calculation was made according to our standard damage and rental terms.

This was not a matter of minor standard wear and tear. Three damaged alloy wheels represent documented and material damage that cannot simply be ignored or forgiven. At the same time, we charged only the lowest possible amount in order to resolve the matter fairly and reasonably.

To put this into perspective, many rental companies would charge substantially more for this type and extent of damage, and in many cases the amount could easily be around double. We deliberately chose a significantly more moderate approach as our goal is only to cover costs, despite the fact that the legal amount could have been higher.

We understand that any deduction from a deposit is unpleasant. However, we cannot ignore newly documented damage or missing fuel, as the same rules must apply fairly to every client. Deposits are not withheld arbitrarily; they are used only when there is a real and documented reason based on the condition of the returned vehicle.

Dear Mr Edlund,
thank you for your feedback, although we regret that you were not satisfied with our services. Allow us to clarify the facts regarding your rental.

On June 26, you collected a nearly new Škoda Karoq (only 8,879 km) from us at Prague Airport outside office hours. Upon return, damage to the front bumper was discovered. We would like to explain the context:

Airport handover: We have an office at the Regus building opposite Terminal 1, open until 16:30. After hours, to make things easier for customers, we deliver vehicles to the short-term car park in front of the terminal. This procedure is generally rated positively by clients, as it allows them to get the car quickly after a long flight. You are actually the first client this year who did not find this convenient, and we handle 5–10 rentals per day at the airport this way.

Vehicle inspection: Our staff always check the vehicle with the client at handover, and the condition is recorded in the protocol attached to the rental agreement. In addition, we take full photos of each car so we can document the condition before and after the rental. If we could not prove that the damage occurred during your rental, we would not have charged you anything. If you needed more time, our colleagues would have gladly waited and explained the car’s features.

Payments: We do not charge any “hidden” fees. When you order additional services, you are informed in advance, and the price is exactly as shown in the online calculator and booking confirmation. We offer three payment options – card, bank transfer, or cash (in CZK, EUR, and USD) – so clients can avoid unfavorable exchange rates or bank charges. This applies both to the rental and the deposit.

Damage handling: In cases of damage, we proceed according to the rental contract, but always individually. In your case, the damage was clearly provable. According to the contract, we could have charged 6,050 CZK. However, our service department determined it could be repaired more cheaply, so we only charged 3,075 CZK, fully documented with photos. Many Czech rental companies also charge “loss of use” fees during repair based on § 2951 of the Civil Code. We do not, and we did not charge you anything of this kind.

Pricing policy: Our prices are transparent and reflect the quality of our modern fleet, full insurance, and the services we provide. Like in the hotel industry, there are hostels and hotels of different categories. You can find cheaper companies offering older or less equipped cars, sometimes without full insurance. However, the difference in quality and the risk of something going wrong is significant.

We understand that not every situation is ideal, but we always act fairly, transparently, and according to clear rules. We regret that we could not accommodate you more, but we must handle damages in line with the contract in order to maintain high-quality services for other clients.
