I was satisfied with the quality of the overall product, my debut children's book is lovely. However, I feel Tellwell perhaps oversells the quality of their services.

Editing was cumbersome, all done through a back-and-forth of a pdf with no actual way to talk to the illustrator or copy editor. Therefore, I made some minor manuscript decisions that looked messy at the end product and had to use a search engine to figure out the correct formatting.

Communication with my project manager was NOT convenient. I assume he lives abroad and options for phone calls were late at night only and that honestly just didn't work for me. I work all day at a regular job, I didn't want to be handling editing and technical questions on the phone at 10:30pm.

My publishing package said it included "Market Access Fees" and "Account Management". But almost 3 months after my book was released it's still not available on Amazon Canada.

It is available on Amazon US as well as with other international online book retailers. But I'm a Canadian author who paid a "Canadian" company to get my book to market, and yet, Amazon Canada is apparently out of their reach.

When I first emailed my project manager about it he suggested directing people to order from Indigo or pay an extra $260+tax to have the issue rectified.

I responded and questioned why the "market access fees" weren't covering the basic task of getting my book on Amazon Canada. I was told he would look into it, yet nothing has changed with my Amazon Canada listing, it still says "Not Available".

Amazon is the world's largest and most popular book retailer...most people that I know pay for Amazon Prime to take advantage of fast delivery and free shipping. Sending them to Indigo isn't going to improve book sales, and paying more money to access Amazon Canada feels like a bait and switch.

I realize Tellwell is a vanity publisher and there are drawbacks and hurdles to getting a self-published book to market. But I paid a lot of money with the understanding that Tellwell would take care of these logistics on my behalf. I've had a number of people tell me they went to Amazon to order, the book wasn't available, and they did not bother to order from Indigo...real sales lost.

I'm not complaining about the quality of the finished book. But it was a tedious task that resulted in me spending almost $6,000 to have my book still be unavailable on Amazon Canada, with no real answers and no way to address the problem myself.

Do your due diligence. If you have the funds to keep paying to get your book properly listed then you might have no issues. Personally, I won't be using Tellwell again.

I struggled with the software as I'm not majorly computer literate but they were very kind and helpful. They got me through it and the book was completed

I am very happy and pleased I got in touch with TellWell and gave me the chance to publish my book "Leidenhesse Uncle Ladislav" pleasing my entire families in Europe and Russia, and when my other book will be finish I will submit to TellWell to publish my second book.

Tell well it is one of the WORST experiences of publishing a book anyone could experience.
From the promising of publishing a book to terminating a contract, DO NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone. Waisted: energy, budget, patience it is a true disgrace. Make sure to read reviews, upon deciding to publish with this company.

I’m a new author. I had no idea how to go about publishing my novel. I contacted quite a few publishers. Some ignored me, others tried to sign me up by offering ridiculous discounts if I paid by a certain date, usually 24 hours.

Then I found Tellwell. They were and still are very helpful and professional. Trust them. They are good people.

Tellwell's system and good communication made my project flow smoothly. Their management app, Octavo, kept them, and me, up to date on the work flow and who was responsible for doing what. I strongly recommend Tellwell.

Being a novice to writing i didn't quite know what to expect. Having no computer literacy whatsoever was problematic. I was met with understanding and helpfulness from my project manager whose patience i tested. So to all budding authors it's a no brainer. It's easy to tell on Tellwell and their professionalism.

I had written a book but knew nothing about how to publish it. Tellwell took care of this for me and edited my story making it a lot more professional. I was guided through the publishing process and given the opportunity to provide input where necessary, e.g. cover design.

I read the testimonials of previous Tellwell clients before opting to publish my book, 'Tilly's Tails- a dog on a mission' through them. I found them informative, friendly and very helpful. I found the editing difficult until I grasped the process, then it was easy.
I think perhaps it would have been helpful to understand the financial rewards better before undertaking the whole process as i think expectations were too high and it was quite a let down to find out what the actual royalties boiled down to. However as I was just keen to publish the book for my grandchildren the royalties were not a priority.
Similarly, I opted to pay by direct debit instalments which was great except when the book was complete and I were informed that the book could only be printed once the finance was complete. Quite understandable but perhaps I should have known at the beginning.
I would definitely recommend Tellwell. Their video webinars were interesting and informative and every person I had dealings with were enthusiastic and helpful.

As a second time self-publisher, Tellwell could not have been more helpful in publishing my book The Personal Love Letter Everyone Needs To Read

From my project manager, assisting me at every step, my manuscript editor being very knowledgeable and prompting me to markedly improve my manuscript. The cover was designed to be eye catching and the distribution was extremely wide spread.
