Poor communication, weak delivery and not worth the money
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise other small business owners not to sign up for the fully managed service.
As a small business, budget and time are tight and I had been burnt before by poor marketing support. I was very clear about that from the start. Gemma assured me this would not happen with her. Unfortunately, it did.
The service started off okay, but it rapidly went downhill in the second month. Communication dropped off, the ads were not actively managed or optimised and I was left feeling like I had to chase for basic input on work I was paying to have handled properly.
I paid for Meta ads management and Klaviyo email flow setup and management and the experience ended up being deeply disappointing and a waste of money.
The Meta ads did not feel actively managed, tested or optimised as promised. There was very little proactive strategy, very little creative testing and no clear sense that the account was being properly monitored or improved. For a paid ads management service, I was promised active optimisation, testing of different creatives, feedback on what was working and a clear plan for improving performance. That simply was not my experience.
Communication was poor. I sent messages raising concerns about the ad setup, performance and an ad error I needed help with and those messages were completely ignored.
The Klaviyo setup was another issue. I moved from Shopify Email to Klaviyo on Gemma’s recommendation, as Klaviyo is the platform she works in. I paid for a Klaviyo email flow setup and reasonably expected the emails to be built in a practical, editable way inside Klaviyo.
Instead, key sections of the welcome flow were created as static image/screengrab blocks from Canva rather than properly editable Klaviyo content blocks. That means I could not easily edit copy, swap sections, change product tiles or optimise the flow going forward without rebuilding it myself.
When I raised this, the response was that I had approved the emails. Approving a visual design is not the same as knowingly approving a poor technical build. I reviewed the look of the emails; I did not sign off on key sections being built in a way that made them impossible to edit and use properly.
I requested a partial refund for the Klaviyo/email setup element because I now have to spend my own time rebuilding work I had already paid to have set up properly. This was refused.
Overall, I paid for a managed service and felt like an afterthought. That is what really frustrates me. Gemma is clearly capable of showing up when she is selling her own services. I wish even half of that effort had gone into my Meta ads and Klaviyo setup.
As a small business, I do not have endless money or time to waste on work that then has to be chased, questioned, corrected or rebuilt. I trusted Gemma to help take pressure off my plate. Instead, she added to it.
